The trailer is shot inside and outside my own house. The trailer starts with an establishing
shot of the house to show the conventional suburban house, the trailer then continues
inside the house till the end. This location allows me to create realism and reduces any risks
due to weather. I also can use various rooms to create different scenes and show that the
story is moving along in the trailer. This setting of a family home is also conventional for the
genre, the mise – en - scene will already be set out, and will help make my story effective.
This setting is similar to other horrors such as insidious and paranormal activity.
Props
The props that I will be using in my horror trailer are all conventional and iconic to the
genre. The main two props used throughout the trailer are candles and torches, this keeps
to the conventions in horror, and emphasises the darkness in the scenes, which helps keep
the audience on edge. I have also chosen to use a knife as a prop in the trailer, I want to use
it as from my research I has appeared that a knife is iconic prop used in all horror genres.
These props will help the audience identify that my trailer is for the horror genre, and will
also help make my trailer exciting.
Costumes
All of my characters will be wearing normal everyday clothing. The two teenage girls will
wear their age conventional clothing such as skinny jeans and fashionable top, the younger
brother will be wearing pyjamas in a light colours, which will be a connotation of his
innocence. As the trailer progresses the clothes will become ripped and dirty, this will show
the audience that there is a struggle between the antagonists and protagonists. It will also
help as a connotation of danger and help with the build-up of tension.

Chloe. Chloe is a caring and careful person and is scared easily. She is easily manipulated by

her friends and people who have bigger personalities than her. Especially her best friend
Alice. She is a nice girl and could be a conventional ‘Final girl’ according to Clover’s final girl
theory. Kathleen is a good choice for the role as she is an actress who is good at coping with
larger roles, she is also the same age of the character she is playing (18/19).
Amy Wilson, aged 18 – Alice – Amy is playing the part of Alice who is originally thought to
be an protagonist in the trailer but is later seen to be the antagonist as she is possessed by
the spirt entity. Alice is a fun, outgoing girl who likes to take risks and is the one who
suggests playing the ritual. Amy is also the same age of the character (18) and is an actress
who can play a diversity of roles, so acting possessed will not be a problem for her.
Matthew Collins, aged 13 – Matt – Matthew is playing the part of Matt who is Chloe’s
younger brother, he is easily scared and innocent. Matthew is good for the part as he is
around the same age of the character (11/12) and will be able to portray a scared young
boy.
