Education and Qualifications
09/2010-07/2013 University of Nottingham BA Joint Honours Philosophy and Theology
Second Upper Class Honours [2:1]
The key skills learnt and honed in my university studies, are a higher level of organisation skills,
independency in learning, the ability to seek and take advice to gain a greater understanding of an
area of study. Through these two subjects, I have developed and demonstrated the skill of critical
analysis of primary and secondary readings. This could be historical or modern texts, and I had to
learn the importance of scrutinizing documents to gain key information. High value was placed in
learning the skill of problem solving, from developing an argumentation to inconsistency within a
formation of ideas. These attributes have not only helped me in an educational capacity but have
also enabled resolutions in a professional and business context to work more productively in a team.
My University experiences also enabled me to learn key communications skills in order to present
my work and myself in an effective manner.

Work History
01/2016-present Scott Fowler LLP Conveyancing Assistant/Case Handler
Working at Scott Fowler, I have progressed during the year from a conveyancing assistant within the
local residential team to handling my own case files in the local residential area up to nationwide
development conveyancing. Alongside this role, I am also the assistant to the Head of Technical in
the residential department. My workload requires exceptional management of time and a
professional manner when faced with work place targets and deadlines. Working on the case
management system has enabled me to develop a professional telephone manner, a high level of
computer skills and an ability to diarise and arrange departmental meetings; all of which are
essential to both my roles. I am well trained on working on files that adhere to the Help to Buy
Government Schemes for first time buyers, and I independently manage these schemes from the
application process to completion of the scheme. In addition, I see all residential files from initial fee
estimate quotation, to working on the file throughout the transaction irrespective of purchase or
sale to the completion of registration. This has allowed me to develop my understanding of the
whole role required within the conveyancing process.
04/2015- 01/2016 Shoosmiths LLP Administrative Assistant
I previously was trained within the Birmingham property litigation team; I was responsible for the
administration of a team of 11. The role encompasses case file management, organising diaries,
regular email checks when out of the office and any other ad hoc administrative duties the team
require. I have also been given the responsibility for completing dictations that are put forward by
2. the partners. This requires a quick and accurate typing skill, leading to copy typing which is expected
from time to time. Live and historical archiving are a regular day to day activity, I am required to
close the file and transfer or bill any finances, log the matter on the Shoosmiths data base and print
out the relevant barcodes for archive and send this to the central Shoosmiths archive warehouse. A
polite and professional telephone manner is essential and an ability to take accurate and detailed
phone messages to pass onto the relevant team member. These day-to-day and ad hoc activities
require a level of accuracy, professionalism and attention to detail, which I have become a key skill
asset.
08/2014-04/2015 OCee Design Limited Internal Account Manager
I was in control of my own accounts with customers based in the East Midlands. I have come to
understand the significance of knowing when to work independently, but also the value of
communication to the external OCee representative in the East Midlands so we both work along
similar thought processes. Prioritising workloads is essential to keep to deadlines and allows me to
apply my time management skills learnt at university. This comes into practice when a customer
comes into difficulty; I hold the responsibility to prioritise there query and find a quick and effective
solution that meets their requirements. Confidence is not only gained in my ability but in OCee
Design. On occasions, customers do visit the Northampton showroom. It is my role to host and be
prepared for their visit and to have a substantial knowledge of products and ranges, new and old, to
answer any queries or questions.
05/2014-08/2014 OCee Design Limited Junior Internal Account Manager
A junior internal account manager is responsible for learning a range of accounts within the
company. I have had the opportunity to manage the spending of my customers’ credit limits and to
work alongside an external representative of the company. The key skills needed within this role are
patience, good team worker and confidence, which I believe I have developed. Under the junior
account manager role, I was asked to undertake some research projects. This exemplified my ability
to manage my own time, juggle workloads, and display professionalism in representing the company
within research meetings, and exemplifies dedication to manage the project through to completion.
09/2013-05/2014 OCee Design Limited Sales Administrator
The main feature of a sales administrator is to be efficient and highly organised to assist the Internal
Account Managers. This role requires good teamwork and a supportive attitude, as well as a key
attention to detail. I was required to support the Managing Director and external sales
representatives to book trips, hotels, and organise meetings. I learnt to be the first point of call with
any office matters, gaining the trust to complete general office tasks, from stationary ordering to
photocopying of private or general documents. A major part of this position was to develop
excellent telephone skills, which include screening calls so as to not disrupt my colleagues. It was
also essential that I learnt to be proficient in using the ‘Global’ database system used within OCee
Design to record clients’ details and sales figures. I have also gained broad knowledge in all Microsoft
programmes and have excellent keyboard skills. I have a helpful manner, which enhances my
customer skills when they are in difficulty and require assistance, whether that is on the phone or
within meetings.
04/2012- 08/2012 Peterborough Diocese, Bouverie Court Legal/Administrative Assistant
This placement was to assist the Diocesan Legal Advisor in seeking out the Deeds to land and
property which belonging to the Diocesan church schools. I had to be in regular contact with the
Northamptonshire County Council and the Land Registry to find and receive documentation, which
3. gave me experience in liaising and negotiating between large organisations. My other duties were to
file and keep an organised record of all the information gathered for meetings. I was also
responsible for taking notes and researching areas of relevance to the Trusts and Trustees.
09/2011-03/2013 The University of Nottingham Open Day guide and buddy scheme
Both of the above roles helped to expand my people skills and professionalism in representing an
institution. As an open day guide, my responsibility was to be an ambassador to present the
University well and to share my experiences in a realistic and appropriate manner. This increased my
skill to respond quickly and resourcefully to a wide range of questions, and to build quick
relationships with a wide range of different people. The buddy scheme was designed for the new
students who may feel daunted at their first time living away from home. My role was to help
organise study timetables, and be a confidant out-going person. I found this deepened my ability to
collaborate with others, and build on not only my own confidence, but that of others.
