How does your media product
represent particular social groups?
Many people believed the
typical age for an acoustic
magazine lover are the ages
‘15-20’ as you can see by my
chart
Most of the time,Teenagers are portrayed as wild and care free and often rather rude and loud. I wanted to
subvert this stereotype by having smartly dressed and kind looking teens for my models.
I believed that the audience for an acoustic magazine would be a female one. I
believed this due to the fact that my research had mainly female models that were the most
commonly used such as…
Interestingly…
During the creation of my rough cut I created
a survey monkey as the results were rather
interesting as only 1/69 thought females
would be the target audience and 6/69 for an
all male audience.
Ethnicity
• To all ethnicity's, But I couldn’t find a model to
represent this. However, stereotypically, Black people
are RnB linked.
What type of
media
institution
might
distribute
your media
product &
why?
This company is a multinational media company founded
in Hamburg. The company’s value is over 2 billion euros
and operate in 16 country’s worldwide. It launched in 1987
but became the UK’s most successful distributor in 2008.
They own MOJP,Q and Kerrang (my most researched
magazines.
IPC Media, publisher of magazines including Marie Claire,
NME andWhat’s onTV. It publishes in magazine form and
digitally in the United Kingdom selling 350 million copy's
worldwide.
They target a women audience mainly by creating a mass
market for women.
What type of
media
institution
might
distribute
your media
product &
why?
Overall
• Personally, I would choose Bauer media over IPC media
as the magazines Bauer media distribute are, in fact
those that I have researched and have all the
conventions I need for a distributor.
Who would be the audience for your
media product?
A male & female audience in the 15’s to 20’s would be my
audience. Here are some examples!
Name- Claire Murray
Favourite artist-
Callabro
Age- 16
Name- Amelia Parker
Favourite artist-
Taylor swift
Age- 16
Name- BethTaylor
Favourite artist-
Shawn Mendes
Age - 17
How did you attract or address your
audience
There are manyThings I have learned from my target audience as part of my research, these were:
• Use bland colours like grey
• Use a Duo band
• Have a solo artist
• Use white and black text
How did
you attract
or address
your
audience
This is a video
of my friend
Amelia giving
feedback on my
final media
product
How did
you attract
or address
your
audience
• During the process, the class discussed my rough cut
and discussed what they liked and disliked. As you can
see, I listened to the feed back I received
How did you attract or address your
audience
Originally, I wished to
attract my audience by
changing environments
and having a pretty
background. But I later
found out that it was
unconventional when it
came to editing.Therefore,
I change my images for my
final piece.
How did you attract or address your
audience
As you can see there is a dramatic
difference in images here
How did you attract or address your
audience
The language that I used was direct and rhetorical. This was to attract the audiences attention as it made
them think about the magazine.
Overall- I believed I attracted my target
audience well
What have you learned about technologies from the process of
constructing this product
This is a software called InDesign which
is what I used to create my final
magazine, rough draft magazine and
even my preliminary task.This software
allowed me to have access to different
tools that allowed me to be creative and
have easier access to movement unlike
publisher and paint.
This piece of software is called Photoshop
which I knew about before using it for my
magazine but never used this piece of
software before. At first, I though this was
rather difficult to do but I managed to get
the hang of the process after a few lessons
and tutorials.
What have you learned about technologies from the process of
constructing this product
In media, we used a Nikon D5100 DLSR camera, the
features I used includes:
• Shutter button
• Video switch
• Manual settings
• Zoom
• Focus
• Shutterspeed and exposure
What have you
learned about
technologies from the
process of
constructing this
product
:The rule of thirds was an option
on my camera allowing me to position my model
appropriately
The three diffusers that you see in this
image all dispense a light; or as we know
it, a flash. The white umbrella looking
diffuser is called (just as it looks) an
umbrella. The two black diffusers you see
are called 'a soft box' which also produce
a light if you need it. I used the umbrella
and one of the soft boxes rather than
using the cameras flash as it looks more
professional.
Looking back at your
preliminary task,
what do you feel you
have learnt in the
progression from it to
the full product.
Looking back at your
preliminary task,
what do you feel you
have learnt in the
progression from it to
the full product.
Thank you for listening,
any questions?
