Map consumer data
California consumers may ask how you are collecting data. It is essential that you are able to answer.
You can do this by gathering answers to the following questions:
• What personal data do you currently collect?
• What are your methods for data collection?
• Where and how do you store this data?
• Do you share/sell the data you collect? If so, with whom?
Provide a disclosure at or before the point of data collection
Be sure to mention:
• Which information is collected
• The purposes you intend to use the information for
• The types of third parties that you share the information with
Decide how to handle customer requests
• These requests must be processed free of charge and within 45 days
• Your website should develop appropriate procedures for processing customer requests
Allow customers to opt-out
Do so by creating a privacy link on your home page that's clearly titled "Do Not Sell My Information."
Visitors must be able to click the link and go to a different landing page, where they can request to
be exempt from this process.
Update software and systems ASAP

• By becoming CCPA Compliant, a website will have to add some sort of interstitial
• Intrusive Interstitials can lead to poor user experience
• Now that Google is focused on Mobile First Indexing, interstitials can easily affect
rankings
• Google is punishing sites containing interstitials that make content less accessible
• These are the “intrusive interstitials” a website should avoid:
• Pop-ups that cover content on the page
• Pop-ups that force users to close the pop-up in order to read the page
• Standalone interstitials that show up before the user can access content
• Pages where the layout makes the upper portion look like an interstitial
LevLane Recommends selecting a banner format, that way the interstitial is
only covering a small portion of the website, rather than covering a large
portion of content.Avoid these types of interstitial
