1. Digipak inspiration
In order to get inspired for the creation of my digipak cover I carried out my primary research by
analysing album covers and general layout of several musicians and celebrities that are similar to
Amy; either in their genre or fan base.
Christina Aguilera is just one of many artists I took ideas from. Her
album covers are notorious for fresh, innovative ideas and looks. In
the album cover for ‘Your Body’ I think the effect of black and white is
largely aesthetically pleasing.
This made me consider the use of a black and white shot of Amy.
Although different in its imagery, I believe that it has a similar effect.
Ke$ha is one of the most unique mainstream pop artists that exist
today. Her song “Crazy Kids” where this shot is from tagrets the same
audience “With A Smile” would; 10-17 year old girls.
I think this silhouette shot is fascinating and really thought-provoking.
It can be interpreted as coming out of a dark place
through the following shot.
These shots inspired me to think this shot might be a good album cover.
