1. Director, Operations
Summary:
This position is responsible and accountable for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the Operations activities of the
company in the EPC, nuclear and electrical sectors. This includes site management, scheduling, estimating and training. The Director,
Operations is a member of the senior management team and participates in developing and implementing company goals and
strategies to achieve profitability.
Responsibilities:
Promotes and leads safety culture in all activities; actively promotes Human Performance tools
Develops strategic business plans to achieve objectives; develops and manages departmental budgets
Identifies, develops and successfully pursues new business opportunities
Ensures all Operations activities, including those undertaken by contractors, are carried out with full regard to any licence
requirements and statutory regulations, as well as any company, customer and location requirements, directives, procedures
and safety rules
Implements safety, quality and environmental programs, standards, procedures, policies, and performance standards within
area of responsibility
Directs the preparation and maintenance of safety certifications
Ensures all company staff and company objectives comply with customer and regulatory requirements
Responsible for overall safety and quality of work performed by company staff
Develops business processes that ensure effective and efficient operations through standardization, improvement,
simplification, discontinuance, or other methods
Directs training and service programs to educate customers and staff
Responsible for the negotiation and execution of service agreements
Successfully defines work flows and jobs to obtain optimum effectiveness
Leads workforce planning and scheduling, and determines organizational structures for areas of responsibility
Ensures that there is an adequate supply of personnel, supervisory staff, equipment, material, and resources to maintain
operational efficiency and budgets
Encourages an environment of continuous improvement
Promotes the organization in industry or trade associations
Job Qualifications:
10 + years of experience in a construction environment in the EPC, nuclear and/or electrical sectors
P.Eng. designation and member of APEO preferred
Experience managing large, complex projects; PMP designation is an asset
5+ years senior management experience
Experience supervising technical, supervisory and administrative personnel
Strong union relationships and labour relations experience required
Field experience and trade knowledge essential
Experience working in an ISO 9001, CSA-N286, CSA-Z299, CSA-N285, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001 environment
preferred
Proven analytical, planning, prioritizing and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to establish excellent working relationships with both internal and
external contacts at all levels
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Significant overnight travel required
