INTRODUCTION
My career began in 2002, when I was given the opportunity to complete an Electromechanician (Millwright)
trade with South African Port Operations. Over the years, I became more inclined to understand the
responsibility and importance of plant stability and maintaining equipment to operate at their maximum
technical capabilities. My leadership skills also developed, when I was given numerous opportunities to act in
Supervisor and Superintendent roles. The importance of safety and maintaining a safe operating plant for my
colleagues to work in became the basis in the way I lead my teams. A few of the skills and attributes that I
have acquired are as follows:
Results oriented - ensuring that deliverables are performed in a timely manner
Accountability - consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic to perform my role and the responsibilities
it entails
Performance - carrying out my responsibilities to the best of my ability and to strive to enhance my
performance by focusing on the activities most critical to my role and that of my team.
Respect - a team player and ensuring that I share my knowledge and experience where it can add value
to my colleagues. This attribute has enabled us to achieve goals as a unit.
Integrity - carrying out my responsibilities with trust and integrity, doing what I say I will.
