4. At the end of the battle, the combatant dead ,
a man approached him
And said to him:“ Don’t die;I love you so much!”
But the corpse, alas!, kept on dying.
Two more came up to him and repeated:
‘Don’t leave us! Be brave! Come back to life!’
But the corpse, alas!, kept on dying.
6. SUMMARY
In this poem , at first we see a dead soldier
whose cause is deliberately kept hidden. A
man approaches the dead man and makes
an ardent appeal to him to come back to life
and to rejoin the company of the living
multitudes. But the corpse kept on dying.
Gradually the members gathered and said
the same plea. This collective plea brought
the man into life.
7. MESSAGE
The massage that the poem conveys is
that only love , fellowship and human
solidarity can resurrect dead humanity .
