• Serve as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer and manage annual operating and capital budget of
approximately $115 million, primarily supported by government grants and endowment funds.
• Advise Director, Management Group and Executive Committee on fiscal, budgetary, and business matters.
• Lead annual budgeting process, ensuring that operating and capital budgets meet strategic plan.
• Solve problems regarding financial difficulties, challenges and opportunities if they arise.
• Provide leadership to staff responsible for budgeting, identifying and allocating resources.
• Supervise 25 employees within Finance, Contracts and Grants, Procurement and Human Resources.
• Recruit, select, evaluate, manage performance, train and mentor direct reports.
• Develop and implement work processes that emphasize use of technology to improve efficiency.
• Provide subject matter expertise on management best practices, and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Represent Lamont on University committees, including Enterprise Resource Planning project which led to
an integrated, real time technology solution for management and financial information.
• Serve as chief liaison with Columbia University Senior Business Officers.
• Collaborate with external auditors and Controller’s Office to coordinate annual audit process.
