Introducing Lafite Rothschild toVietnam
Chateau Lafite is the most famous name in the world of wine tracing it’s origins to it’s status as a medieval fiefdom in the
14th century. Lafite gained notoriety from 1732 as the favourite wine of the British Prime Minister Robert Walpole, in
1755 it was known as the “Kings Wine” in Paris and was also a personal favourite of the US President Thomas Jefferson.
Lafite was variously described as the “Fountain of Youth”, the “Ambrosia of the gods of Olympus” and even “the finest
vineyard in the Universe”.
In 1855 a league table was produced for the best French wines for the Universal Paris Expedition and Lafite was ranked
at the top of a group of four of the best Chateau in the Bordeaux ahead of Latour, Margaux and Haut Brion. Lafite was
described as the “leader among fine wines” and remains so to this day.
Chateau Lafite was purchased by Baron James de Rothschild in 1868 and has been known as Chateau Lafite Rothschild
ever since. Today, the group’s vocation is to bring out the best of their exceptional vineyards and to look for new ones with
high potential in France and other countries such as Argentina and Chile. A key ingredient of success is the Lafite spirit,
the secret formula for success that they have taken from Bordeaux around the world producing wines with great
precision, elegance and finesse.
Elite Wines is the official distributor for Lafite in Vietnam. Chateau Lafite Rothschild is available in our portfolio however
our focus in Vietnam is around making Lafite wines accessible to Vietnamese consumers at reasonable prices. Please read
on for more details of the Bordeaux and Southern France Collection and our wines from the New World countries
including Chile and Argentina where Lafite have acquired vineyards with superb potential such as Los Vascos. We have
also chosen two other iconic wines from the Rothschild stable, Champagnes Barons de Rothschild and Rupert and
Rothschild to complete our portfolio.

Bordeaux Collection:
Lafite Legende, Reserve Special and Saga
Known throughout the world for their prestigious vineyards, the Lafite family has also, for some years, produced
a range of wines ideal for everyday drinking. The wines were initially made for close fiends and family and to
continue this spirit and tradition the “Collection” was created to offer a range of “initiation” wines to both
Bordeaux and Lafite. The wines are made under the supervision of Oenologist Diane Flamand with the same
careand attention to detail as Lafite gives to its Grand Vins.
5. South West France Collection:
Lafite Domaines D'Aussieres
One of the key components of Lafite’s vision is to seek our geographical areas or “terroirs” of exceptional potential
and marry these with their world class wine making techniques. Domaines Aussieres is a great example of this and
the Lafite family acquired this property in 1999. The Aussieres Rouge and Blanc are fantastic wines for everyday
drinking but we also have a “Grand Vin”, the Chateau D’Aussieres and a “Cuvee Excellence” the Blason
d’Aussieres which help showcase the elegant combination of the 4 key grapes of the region of Syrah, Grenache,
Mourvedre and Carignan.

Chilean Collection:
Lafite Los Vascos
Vina Los Vascos is another fantastic example of Lafite’s pioneering spirit in search of “terroirs” of exceptional
potential. Los Vascos, meaning “the Basques” in honour of its founding fathers from Spain was taken over by
Lafite in 1999. They have developed the vineyards and winery to produce highly elegant wines, which combine
Chile’s wonderful vibrant fruit with a distinctive Bordeaux finesse. Of particular interest is the flagship wine of the
estate, Le Dix, made from 70-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon vines with a touch of Syrah and Carmenere and aged
in new oak barrels for 18 months.

Argentinean Collection:
The Catena / Lafite Rothschild CARO Winery
Bodegas CARO is a beautiful collaboration between the most famous family from Bordeaux – Lafite Rothschild – and
the most famous name in Argentina – Nicholas Catena. It is also a celebration of two wines cultures with the noble grapes
of each culture, the Cabernet Sauvignon from Bordeaux and the Malbec form Mendoza coming into harmonious balance.
The winery has been producing wines since 2003 and has now launched a single varietal Malbec – Aruma for everyday
drinkers. The flagship wines are the CARO and Amancaya, delicious blends of Malbec and Cabernet with the CARO in
particular benefiting from critical acclaim and with an annual production of only 5,000 cases, is under strict allocation.

Champagnes Barons de Rothschild
Champagne Barons de Rothschild was created by the most famous name in the world of wine underpinned by the
Rothschild family values of "Harmony", "Integrity" and "Hard Work". As the best grape varietal in the champagne
“cuvee”, the chardonnay grapes for Champagnes Barons de Rothschild are sourced from “Grand Cru Villages” from the
Cotes des Blancs, renowned for producing the best champagnes with finesse and elegance. The flagship Brut style is
sophisticated and elegant, and a delightful Rose expression is also available alongside larger and gifting formats available
upon request. Champagnes Barons de Rothschild was honoured to be the official champagne of the Royal Polo Charity
Cup, the first ever Polo match held in Vietnam supported by Diva Tu Minh and HRH Prince Peter Philips.

Rupert & Rothschild
The Rupert & Rothschild partnership was formed in 1997 and is a collaboration between the Richemont Group and the
Rothschild family. The Richemont Group is one of the largest luxury brands group in the world with subsidiaries includ-
ing Dunhill, Mont Blanc, Piaget, Cartier and Van Cleef. As a result, the wines from Fredericksburg in South Africa are
produced to the very highest quality standards and production is strictly limited to ensure that only the best grapes are
used to produce wines of great elegance and balance. Our reds are classic Bordeaux blends and our white is a chardonnay
with incredible, freshness and flavor. We were delighted that Rupert & Rothschild wines were selected as the wine spon-
sor for Vietnam’s first ever TopChef on HTV 7 with endorsements from celebrities such as movie star Binh Minh and MC
Thuy Hanh.
