Styles
Modernism:
Definition - The Bauhaus has had a thoughtful effect upon later
developments in art, architecture, graphic design, interior design,
industrial design, and typography.

International Style:
Definition - The International Typographic Style, also known as the
Swiss Style, is a graphic design style that started in Russia, Holland
and Germany in the 1920s. It was made well-known as it was
developed by designers in Switzerland during the 1950s.

2. Post-Modernism:
Definition – It is a late 20th
century movement in the arts,
architecture, and criticism that was an exit from modernism.
Postmodernism includes sceptical understandings of culture,
literature, art, philosophy, history, economics, architecture, fiction,
and literary criticism.

Grunge:
Definition – Grungy means "dirty". When you have a grunge style
design you often have a worn or stained look that also can look worn
out, old or rusty.
Grunge can be a stained paper that looks like you've left your coffee
cup on it, or a texture that looks like an old rusted type of metal.

3. Op-Art:
Definition - Op art is a shortened term for short for optical art. It is a
style of visual art that uses optical illusions. Op art works are
abstract, with many better known pieces created in black and white.
Typically, they give the person looking at the image the impression of
movement, hidden images, flashing and vibrating patterns, or of
swelling or warping.

Definition - Pop art is an art movement that developed in the mid-
1950s in Britain and the late 1950s in the United States.

4. Art Nouveau:
Definition – It was an artistic movement in which became very
popular between the years of 1890 and 1905. It was practiced in the
fields of art, architecture and applied art. It is a French word which
means "new art" and is characterised by organic and plant motifs as
well as other highly stylized forms.

Punk:
Definition – When Punk first exploded in the 1970s it looked like
young rebellion. In fact it was part of the Postmodernist measure
which began as a reaction to the rigid boundaries of Modernism.

5. Urban:
Definition – Urban design is the design of towns and cities, streets
and spaces.

Anime:
Definition – It is a word for a style of a Japanese comic book and
video cartoon animation which the main characters have large doe-
like eyes.

6. Kitsch:
Definition – It is a German word that means “in bad taste.” In the
arts, the word kitsch was used to describe art that is fake, rude and
displays a complete lack of difficulty.

Photo-Realist:
Definition – It is a style of painting successful in the 1970s. It is a
depicting common place scenes or ordinary people, with an exact
detail of realism, flat images, and barely visible brushwork that
suggests and often is based on or incorporates an actual photograph.

7. Futuristic:
Definition – It is a design that is inspired by people’s imagination. It’s
almost as if we extend the design to its surroundings and wonder
what else could be possible.

Cartoon:
Definition – A simple drawing showing the features of its subjects in
a fun exaggerated way, especially a mocking one in a newspaper or
magazine.

8. Genre
Factual:
Definition – It is a genre of non-fiction TV programs that forms actual
events and people. These types of programs are also described as
documentary, observational documentary, fly on the wall,
docudrama, and reality television.

Editorial – Editorial design is an attractive field that brings together
our abilities for creative typography, smart layouts and clever
compositions.

9. Lifestyle:
Definition - Books in the lifestyle non-fiction genre are about the
ways and situations in which people live.

Definition –It is an unoriginal group that recognises some pieces of
music as going to a shared tradition or set of conventions.

10. Adventure:
Definition – It is a genre of fiction in which an adventure, an exciting
task connecting risks and physical danger, forms the main storyline.

Definition – Sports films may be fictional or non- fictional; and they
are a hybrid sub-genre category, they often tend to be dramas or
comedy films and occasionally documentaries.

Definition – Fantasy is a fiction genre set in an imaginary universe,
often but not always without any locations, events, or people from
the real world. Most fantasy uses magic or other supernatural
elements as a main plot element, theme, or setting. Magic and
magical creatures are common in many of these imaginary worlds.

Science Fiction:
Definition – Science fiction (often shortened to sci-fi) is a genre of
speculative fiction, typically dealing with imaginative concepts such
as futuristic science and technology, space travel, time travel, faster
than light travel, parallel universes, and extra-terrestrial life.

Graphic Novel:
Definition – "Graphic Novel" is a format, not a genre. Graphic novels
can be fiction, non-fiction, history, fantasy, or anything in-between.
Graphic novels are similar to comic books because they use
sequential art to tell a story. Unlike comic books, graphic novels are
generally stand-alone stories with more complex plots.
