What is Technoculture?
 Techno + culture
 As per oxford dictionary it is, “A culture as informed or
defined by its technological activity, especially a
culture characterized by a high level of technological
development; (also) the practices, attitudes, etc.,
characteristic of those proficient in the use of
information technology.

Risk society by Ulrich Beck
 Ulrich Beck, a German sociologist who talks
about ‘Risk society’ in his work “Risk Society:
Towards a New Modernity.”
 Beck says, risks are not real, it is about
becoming real, and as soon as risks become
real, it becoms disasters.
 Here we are looking at risks in technoculture
society.

Beck’s Solution
 Politics must be about being able to communicate between the system.
 There should be transparency.
 The representatives of the people are no more accountable to people.
 They refer only to each other in debates that are increasingly disconnected from
the opinions/criticisms/demands of the people.

We are living in the world of technoculture and
in this world there is infinite chain of problems
– solutions – problems, and we all are keep
living with the hanging sword on our head.
