Veterans Service Representative (Certified)/Claim Adjudicator (GS -0996-11) | July 2007 – Present
The U.S department of veteran’s affairs operates the nation's largest integrated health care system with more than 1,700 hospitals,
clinics, community living centers, domiciliaries, readjustment counselling centers, and other facilities. I assist Veterans with obtaining
health compensation benefits, along with developing and adjudicating their claims. Most importantly, I serve as a subject matter
expert of disability compensation programs administered by the Veteran’s Benefits Administration
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain confidentiality and protect the integrity of Veterans Benefit programs.
Manage higher-level claims and help colleagues troubleshoot complex issues.
Teach training various work training courses, including training on PTSD, workload management and administrative decisions
Examine complex issues for eligibility, entitlements, and veterans dependent on disability compensation benefits.
Counsel and advocate for VA claimants thereby providing information about a broad range of benefits and services.
Gather requisite evidence from medical, military, community, and other sources to support benefit determinations.
