4. Filming a performance based video is good for
when you want to use more lighting. The lighting
adds a dramatic effect and can go well with up
beat songs. It adds a technique on camera shots
too, you have more to work with and more to film. I
got the inspiration from King for a Day/Shout, by
Green Day, the transformation from black and
white to original colour keeps the video different in
each shot, the movement of the camera makes
you feel like you’re there, this is a really good
effect. However this would be difficult to put
together to film.
Watching The Fratellis, Chelsea Dagger, music
video, you can see the excitement. Watching a
performance based video really brings out the
music. You’re watching the band perform and
seeing the crowd dancing and singing along can
really make you want to be there.

7. Narrative videos are good when you want to
portray the lyrics and show they have
meaning. Having characters helps bring out
the characters in the song. This won’t be that
difficult to do because you can find simple
locations and people to act for you. I had
the idea for using characters from When the
sun goes down, by Arctic Mon keys.
The way there is a grey tint over the scenes
through out the whole video, enhances the
meaning to the lyrics, and that is the point to
having a Narrative video. On the other
hand, you will have to write a script and
make sure the lighting is right for each
scene, this can be a lot of work and will take
more time to do.

10. Performing live music videos are similar to
performance based music videos.
However, these kind of videos have a
crowd and a stage. Videos such as Valarie
by Amy Winehouse, it is filmed far back so
you can see the crowd and the stage in
the background. Some angles are from the
stage. This shows the bands point of view.
This kind of video is good for really showing
the music because you see how the
audience enjoy listening to the band. It
can be difficult to put together, although I
think it will be worth it because this form of
music video is really exciting and
interesting.
