Salix Homes manages around 10,500 council-owned properties across Central Salford in Greater
Manchester. They are an Arms Length Management Organisation. They are responsible for
housing management and renewal services.
Role: I have worked within the sphere of social housing for in excess of eighteen years. I
currently work as a Project Officer, initially for New Prospect and recently at Salix Homes. My role
has a wide remit, and I have experience in:
• Tenant Liaison working on Decent Homes Schemes supporting and communicating with
and dealing with any issues for customers and vulnerable customers while maintenance
work is undertaken.
• Sending brochures and sending out other communication to tenants such as notification
letters for information regarding works to be undertaken and start dates of schemes
• Supporting and sometimes re locating vulnerable tenants and working with carers and
families if the maintenance works can be an issue for customers who have health issues
• Contractor Management ensuring contractors meet KPIs and SLAs keeping regular
communication and holding site meetings and ensuring works are of an excellent standard
• Ensuring that work is carried out in the most cost effective manner.
• Ensuring compliance with legislation / approved codes of practice for a variety of differing
disciplines
• Ensuring consistently high level of service and performance from procured contracts,
suppliers and contractors.
• Assisting in the preparation of technical briefs on projects, identifying appropriate design
standards and life cycle costing/ maintenance implications

• Providing specialist advice in respect to the condition of property and strategies for
maintenance and repairs as appropriate.
• Undertaking pre and post inspections of maintenance work to ensure compliance with
specifications or Service Level Agreements as appropriate.
• Investigating formal and informal complaints regarding maintenance issues I have been the
investigating officer and communicated both between the customers and contractors to
resolve maintenance complaints, I have issued repairs after inspecting poor quality works
and ensured the contractor revisits if the work is not up to standard
• Investigating and providing detailed technical reports for compensation claims taking
photographs and investigating and taking measurements and occasional court
appearances
2. • Liaising with tenants / clients / contractors to facilitate time and cost efficient repairs /
upgrades ensuring Best Value.

Role: My main duties included:
• Training housing office staff and call center staff on maintenance issues such as correct
diagnosis of repairs and SOR codes
• Customer service role Investigating formal and informal complaints regarding
maintenance issues
• Meeting tenants and taking statements, writing reports and taking photographic
evidence and measurements
• Ensuring our tenants were left with a great impression of the company when I was
dealing with complaints and ensuring the company’s reputation wasn’t damaged using
customer care skills and building a trusting relationship with tenants
• Undertaking maintenance inspections regarding customer complaints
• Undertaking technical reports and investigating and ensuring the correct work priorities
and schedules of rates were issued by staff to ensure staff Get it Right First Time and

Role: My main duties included:

Cresta Aluminium fabricated and installed window units to commercial and domestic properties.
Role: I worked as part of the domestic installations team, stripping out the previous windows and
installing the new units.
Personal Details
I enjoy Rugby League and have a season ticket to both Salford RLFC and I also support
Salford City FC, I play over 40s football and I enjoy fishing, I am involved with local groups
in Salford which help local people who have difficulties with health care. I have also
organised Fun days in the Salford area and brought on board local organisation such as
Sure Start, Sparky, Salford Council Health advisement team, Greater Manchester Police,
and other groups and this has helped local communities to be involved and not to feel
isolated from access to these services.
