The AcademiesStudent AdvisoryCouncil helpsAcademiesStaff tomake importantprogrammatic
decisionsregardingthe 5 Academythemesof CivicEngagement,Entrepreneurship,GlobalPerspective,
ResearchExploration,andSustainability.The overarchinggoalsof all programswill be tohelpstudents
betterunderstandthe 5 academythemes,getbetteracquaintedwithUBandthe Buffalocommunity,
buildtheirfacultynetwork,andmeetlikemindedstudents.AdvisoryCouncil memberswill alsohave the
opportunitytohelpmarket,planandfacilitate programs.Thiswill be agreatopportunitytomeetnew
people,furtherdevelopyourleadershipskills,and adda unique leadershiproletoyourresume.
Program Responsibilities

Academiestoanewstudents isnotonlyabout studiesandschool works.Itisa greatpart of the
developmentof a newstudent.Studentscaninvolve inall sortof activitiesorprogramstofully
equipthemselveswithvariousskillsandabilities.Ithinkthe Academieswill provides students
withnecessarysourceslike the big5dimensionsinAcademiestoofferstudentsopportunities
and global perspectives.
3. Why are you interestedin becomingamemberof the AcademiesStudentAdvisoryCouncil?
I wantto becominga memberof itbecause Iam so passionate aboutjoiningclubs;seekingnew
opportunitiesmeetingnew peopleandgivingnew ideastothe group.Asa presidentandVPin
those twoclubs,I learnedalotin termsof how to organize powerfuleventsandactivities;how
to betterdoingmarketingusingsocial mediaanddigital marketing.Iwanttofinda organization
that offerparticipantsopportunitiestocreate new ideasandinitiateit.
4. What was the mostbeneficialaspectof the Academiesforyouasa currentstudentand why?
I thinkisthe global perspectivepart,asan international student,Iamreallyinterestedin
involvinginall kindsof eventsandprograminvariousinternationalsituations.Iparticipatedin
global scholarshipprogramwithanongoingprocess.SoI reallylike the global perspective that
Academiesofferedtostudents.
5. What isone programyou’dlike tosee puton by the Academiesduringthe 2015-2016 Academic
yearand why?
I wouldlike toputthe “Opento Real World” part ontothat because we shouldofferstudents
more chancesto letthemengage inthe real worldwithemployers,employeesorany
occupationsinthe societysostudentscanbe openandfamiliartothe real worldthat they
won’tgetshock once theyare inthe society.
