7. Please read before continuing!
Some of the work at the end of this project has
been moved to my production reflection
document. It might seem a bit disorganised
and that’s because it is. You can treat areas of
this powerpoint as production, sorry
9. Understanding the Project
Here I want you to understand that I'm
viewing my areas of production as one entity.
The Brand will be cross platform, irrespective
of the platform. Having a constant theme
across all platforms will keep that constant
look which audiences will recognise. This is
the same technique used by the organisation
is researched: The Race & Autosport. I want to
go a step further and include brand design
into many aspects of my production.
Subconsciously referencing back to my brand
design.
Plenty of logos in many different
areas. Comparatively, Autosport
have a lot less branding in all
possible areas compared to The
Race.
10. Understanding the Project
I've had a look at some more YouTube channels
outside of racing, so I can understand further
usage of brand designs, colours and styles.
TLDR News on
YouTube https://www.youtube.com/c/TLDRNews
/videos is a fantastic example of where I want to
take my consistent theming. Their brand is
cross platform and there is no divide of
entity anywhere.
Compared to Autosport and the Race, TLDR
News makes use of all the resources available to
them. Continuously interconnecting their
branding.
Main focus:

11. Understanding the Project
During my experimentation document, I was
already thinking about branding and designs.
I had come up with a few potential ideas
which I drew up on a notepad. Mainly I
wanted to go with the point design anyway,
but also experimenting with other names and
designs don’t hurt.
For Gap, the
centre line
would be the
object which I
based the brand
around
Point's focus is
on the Cross X
or 'point' it
creates
Motion would play
with the arrows.
Different sizes and
shapes of arrows I
had in mind were

document
12. Understanding the Project
Over the last weeks , I have been noting down my ideas as I'm
drifting off to sleep. The quality is poor because it was screen
shotted on my phone with a free drawing app.
Even though the images are in crude form, they are still
documented ideas I want to bring forward with my brand
design, and I will be testing the best ones during production
to see how well they suit my brand. Please bear in mind that
this is the base line of my idea, only taking me a few seconds
to document my ideas before I go to sleep.
My point with this segment, is the amount of inclusion of the
X in all areas. Even though the lines are not properly
measured and angled, the concept remains.

13. Initial Brand Concept Designs
I notice myself always trying to continue the X Point logo
scheme I've been thinking of. Here are just some examples of
me trying to expand the option I have when it comes to
displaying this logo in a few different ways.
As a logo, I included many straight and fixed lines. I found that
subconsciously straight lines are masculine and curves are
feminine. This article:
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MasculineLinesF
eminineCurves (26/02/2021) explains that "It's very common for
(human) male and female characters to be clearly differentiated
with exaggerated straight-line." this thought process can be
bring forward to my logo design and become linked to my
audience based on the subject I'm covering. Tommo's channel
had a 94% male-based viewership, and so I will have a similar
target audience. This is down to racing as I have explain being
a male dominated sport. The logo only compounds on top of the
current male orientated market surrounding racing
entertainment.
14. Brand concept designs
Beginning my logo design, I'm going to currently use the
experimentation document from earlier.
I'm thinking of continuing the Black on white static
design for my base logo. I do however want to play
around with the area between each shape. Where can I
put colours in for meaning? if needed.
The primary colour I'm using in this logo is Black. I fully
represents the Strong emotions with formality and
elegance. I personally view racing with the same mindset
so the colour represents my viewpoint on the subject.
Reflecting my emotions to the sport is key for audience
connection between my narration and the gameplay
itself. People watching and reading must know that I
toughly enjoy the sport.
15. Brand concept designs
As a colour, black is very easy to work with. It doesn’t
clash like other colours would such as a green and yellow
example. Allowing for flexibility which in the colour
department which I'm going to exploit, by not limiting my
secondary colour to anything. This flexability can be used
to change emotions for specific subject. Like a secondary
red for anger/outrage, as an example.
16. Brand concept designs
What allowing the usage of all colours mean for me,
is inclusivity. In 2020, the rise of diversity was
reflected across all teams. With one even changed
the livery of their entire car for the season to
promote the Black Lives Matter movement.
The consistent theme of black squares at a 45-
degree angle is the representation for the brand.
Imagine it to be extremally recognizable from a
distance and while being next to other brands.
Simulating TLDR News' standard as they appear
defined while next to other people's content.
17. Brand concept designs
Here I'm going to use a few techniques I used
to incorporate colours into my brand design. I also don’t want to
limit my secondary style to anything, it could change from
subject to subject. Variety is something I notice myself looking
for on YouTube and entertainment in general.
Here you can see the consistency of the logo with the flexibility
of colours. I used my experimentation document over a masked
layer. I positioned each square another 35 pixels to their
relative direction to keep a white layer in the back and have a
35 pixel gap for the colour layer. The defining factor of this logo
is the solid black and the solid white. Areas where there are
whites and black on the secondary colour layers are seen to
visually interact with these areas and change the initially
straight lines into more dynamic and create the illusion of being
non-linear, changing the gaps between the logo. and other areas
with strong colours become defined and ridged. Thew bottom
left example, you can clearly see where the clipping mask
occurs.
18. Brand concept designs
Building upon this, I can take this document to Premiere to see what
effect changing the position of the clipped layer does.
However, what I found, is that when I import the file direct from
photoshop, it saves the position of the image on the clipping mask, not
allowing me to scroll the image like I want. So I import the image and
shapes necessary instead.
So far, the shapes imported properly, and I can edit each individual
shape's with the effects control.
To get just the images, I import the files whit the clipping mask
released on the images.
Because I imported it from the same file the x in the middle remained.
So I imported it directly from the experimentation file I got the images
from, where I never touched the clipping of the images. My problem
more clearly, was that when I imported the photoshoot file to premiere,
it was changing the layers, by putting a massive X over the colour
layer, making this layer useless. I need it without any element over it.
So I import the layer itself directly from photoshoot, by itself.
19. Brand concept designs
Now that I had the images I use the "Track Matte Key"
key on the image. However, the layer I imported was not
being registered as a matte layer. I would be layer 2. So I
watched this
video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XG6etSFEDw
where the person talking just did the same process as
myself (or I thought) , so I need to find what is different.
20. Brand concept designs
He saved this shape file as a .png. I will do the same to
see if this changes my result. Initially, it changed
nothing, however I put the mask layer above the image
layer and then I was able to mask the image to the
clipping layer.
However, whenever I changed the positing of the image
layer, the X still moved with the layer. As if it was burned
into it and could not be removed.
I could counteract the movement of the mask by setting
the position of the mask to animate in the opposite
direction, but I know that I can mask this shape, so I
want to find that technique to not have more problems in
the future. Because this process would be possible, but
tedious and time consuming.
21. Brand concept designs
I'm fairly certain it is not working because the
frame of the shape layer I'm clip making is not the
same size as the frame of my Premiere sequence.
When I opened up the sequence in photoshop, I
found that the sequence was not in 1920x1080p and
was actually at 1280x1080, streching the PNG
X shape into a rectangle and not square. So I
created a new sequence and called it Main Working
sequence for all future reference, the settings being
1920x1080 at 59.94fps.
Admittedly this should have been the first thing I
should have done.
22. Brand concept designs
I got a new 1920x1080p canvas from the copy
sequence size in Premiere and opened it into
photoshop. Exporting it as a .PNG file.
This still moved the clipping mask.
I had another idea: create a new timeline and
animate the background and export the file. Then
bring it back to my main working sequence. So all I
did was increase the scale of the secondary colour
image to allow for position change, then change the
motion to be animated from left to right. This
worked with the clipping mask layer, so finally I
had found the technique.
23. Brand concept designs
Now I can import the other shapes back to see the
result.
I exported the video https://youtu.be/dEVBFezj5n8.
It took a bit of time but eventually I found out how
to achieve the result I was looking for. Please bare
in mind that this was just a quick test of how I will
achieve this, and will apply the same technique to
my content and other areas.
https://youtu.be/dEVBFezj5n8
24. Brand concept designs
I had a few problems with the output:
• Low quality clipped image
• Because the image was at a scale of 200%, it began
to pixilate. I didn’t even use the whole image, so
next time I wont go above 120-130% at avoided
these artifacts.
• Movement was too fast
• The length of the clip was 5 seconds, to achieve a
cleaner look I'm going to move the image a small
distance compared to the amount I rendered this
time.
• Couldn’t properly line up black shapes
• The black shapes around the secondary colours
wouldn’t properly line up with the middle of the
frame, I measured the shapes correctly, however it
I still had to lower the shapes position by 10
to combat the off-center look it began with.
https://youtu.be/dEVBFezj5n8
25. Brand concept designs
Here are 2 more examples of me just refining the
technique, these looked a lot better than the first
attempt.
https://youtu.be/i1xqXTMvQ48
https://youtu.be/8i3QdSM8ZXo
They took significantly less time and I'm planning
to use this style for introductions and outros of
videos as a little engaging ending for viewers
because it doesn’t draw much attention, while
promoting the brand.
26. Font for Branding
The font I'm planning to use will be as closely
associated to the logo design as possible. I stumbled
upon a design during experimentation of font
creation which suits the "Point" style and emotions
included the 45-degree theme.
Because I want to continue using this font style, I'm
going to create a separate document to clean up and
re-upload this font to Calligraphr.
However, I won't need to update this until I need
these letters. For now, I have all the letters
necessary for POINT.
28. Content Influences – Written and Video
Racing as a sport I have covered as being full of heighted
emotions as people push themselves to the limit to output the
best result possible.
Emotions and behaviors such as tension, competition,
concentration and excitement as all key factors of
entertainment value when watching categories like F1, GTE,
GT3 and others around the globe. People watch the sport
because of the amount of money, time and effort on the line.
Each race is a story in of itself. Following the emotions when
losing or gaining positions. The channel SuperGT has a set
storyline and explanations which I would like to follow myself.
The perspective of races are from his own experience, which
allows the audience to understand the viewpoint of one
individual within a race. A drivers perspective is more
entertaining compared to a narrated casting perspective in my
opinion. F1 tries to bridge the gap between audience and driver
by having driver insights like team radios and tire predictions,
but nothing compares to the actual narration of a driver
narrating his own race.

29. Content Influences – Video
YouTube and Twitch are platforms of personalities.
Channels like Shroud, Dr Disrespect, PewDiePie and
even TLDR news all have an audience for the subjects
they covers along with the appearance of personalities in
front of the camera.
Personalities are linked to their own brand identities.
Therefore, an audience will watch a brand for the
personality.
In regard to my own channel, I view my camera
appearances in the same way. Complementing the
emotions of the video with my own personality is taking
inspiration from these channels which are already
established on the platform. People watching my channel
will want to watch for the subjects I'm covering and for
the personality on camera.
31. Written Content
The Written content that I'm going to produce will be placed on a
website which I'm creating for the point brand. Like The Race and
Autosport, it is to diversify my target audience, branching out to an
older male target audience who prefers to read as opposed to
watching a video. I will be focusing theoretically 30-40% of my
attention towards this area.
To create the platform, I'm going to use Wix as I have tested to
layout a website which falls into the same style as my YouTube and
social medias.
Written content allows me to write Indepth articles which can
become personalized and opinionated. I have no ground to stand on
to make actual judgements about a subject like F1, however I want
to put my passion and love for racing into words and a website will
be a great place for people to read about what I have been doing in
the sport.
I do have a limitation being dyslexic, but I want to overcome this
hurdle as I said, with passion and determination. The more work
and time I put into this content, the better I will get over the course
of production.
32. Written content – Production schedule
I laid out how I will be writing content for my website, all the
processes I will go through from idea generation to finished
product:
1 – Subject generation – when it comes to subject generation, I
want to generate as many ideas as possible to allow myself to pick
ones which will be fun for myself to create and fun for my audience
to read. Many ideas will fail at this stage, I'm thinking of maybe 1
in 5 ideas making it part this stage. If I don’t go ahead with an idea
immediately, I can always come back to it.
2 – Suitable content - Out of the ideas I produce, decide suitable
content surrounding that subject. If I were to write about Go-
Karting, then where can I go to take photos? How will they be
relevant to the article?
3 – Location scouting – once I have decided a location to visit, I will
use google maps to access the location for possible photos/other
content. This stage will also be the time I write my up my
contingency plan, theorizing the equipment I will need for that
areas: like if it were to rain, I would need waterproof protection for
myself and my equipment.
33. Written content – Production schedule
4 – Planning written content – if the photoshoot location is possible
to visit, I can begin to plan my written content before I go out to
take photos at the location. Here I can plan images I want to take
and where they would be placed in relation to the text on the page.
This part of production will be vetoed and returned to stage 1 if it is
not possible to find a suitable location for the photoshoot. Also
researching the subject to understand the subject I'm covering.
5 – Writing the article – assuming stage 4 has been fully planned, I
can begin to write my article based on the subject and image
choices I have for the photoshoot. I plan to have this stage of
written work to be compilated before I go out for the photoshoot.
This will allow me to divert attention to other areas while I wait for
the day I go out to take photos. Potentially, I could have 2/3 articles
lined up ready for photos.
6 – Acquiring photos – Stage 3 will have already prepared a date
where I go out to take photos because I cannot just rack up to a
business and expect a photoshoot. I will have to prepare in advance
to organize a date when it would be appropriate to visit. I will also
take photos as close as possible to my plan. But I will allow for
variation.
34. Written content – Production schedule
7 – Editing and implementing photos – Once I have gathered
the photos for the subject, I will Edit and implement them as
planned. At this stage of production, I will have the article in its
final stages so I won't want to deviate much from what I
planned.
8 – Edit any changes to text – I will have planned where to
place the images on the page, but it will be hard to 100% stick
to the plan, so I will need to change the areas of conflict
between the text and the images so they work together.
9 – Preparing advertising posts – using images and titles from
the article, I can form a post to advertise the content on social
media platforms. Generating awareness for those following the
account. I know that my website would be the hardest to attract
readers to.
10 – Publishing article and advertisements – Once the work is
finalized, I will post the article first then all the advertisements
on the social media accounts. It will be hard for people to find
the work otherwise.
35. Written content – Production schedule
11 – finalizing the post – once the advertisements and story
are posted, I will check compatibility on other devices like
my phone and my brother's laptop, to see if it came out as
planned as it might come out as different on another
device.
Finish
I'm treating this project if I was to earn an income from this
content creation. This means that not all subjects will make
it to the end of production. I want to be ruthless with
content choice. At any stage, if I don’t feel like a subject
suits my brand, then I will sideline it for a possible later
date. As if it is quality over quantity.
36. Written content – Production schedule
Here I'm just going to list all the base equipment I will need
for any written article, specific subjects where I visit certain
areas will require their own equipment which I will list in
my contingency plan:
Hardware
PC – For writing, editing and uploading the work.
DSLR camera – For photography
Separate device (laptop/phone) - for testing the upload
Software
Wix.com - my website specifically will be the location where
I publish this work.
Photoshop – For image editing
Microsoft office (Word/PowerPoint) – Planning, research
and writing
37. Written content – Production schedule
Because the location at which I'm taking
images is far down south in Hereford; I'm only
going to get one chance to gather images for
this production.
Being an on-location photoshoot with other
public members and staff, I will have to stick to
Covid-19 guidelines. Businesses don’t open till
the 12th of April with the lifting of the 3rd
government lockdown: which is halfway into my
production schedule.
This means, the earliest I can begin to work on
this written work will be the weekend after the
lockdown.
38. Written content – Production schedule
My schedule for written work will be:
Early April to April 11th: primary location
scouting. Contacting businesses on location,
organizing the day of the photoshoot.
Contacting the location, I will be staying at to
arrange a place to sleep for the days I'm there.
In the meantime I will prepare the possible
article I could create; with Subject generation,
suitable content, location scouting, planning
the article will all be done in this time.
39. Written content – Production schedule
April 12th-16th: Preparing to travel and
secondary location scouting while checking the
local weather for the day of the photoshoot.
Forecasts are usually only accurate to 3 days
into the future.
April 17th: Travel by train, from York to
Leominster, where I will be staying. This travel
will cost £50 with a railcard, there and back.
Because college is on the 16th I have to wait till
the weekend to travel.
40. Written content – Production schedule
April 18th: Day of the photoshoot. Here, the photos will
be acquired.
I must have a signature sheet prepared for the public
which are in my images. Clarifying that the use of the
images is for personal use in this project.
I also must stick to covid guidelines, remaining 6 feet at
all times from anyone else, apart from people in
my bubble.
April 19th: return to York intime for college which is the
next day.
April 20th-27th: with the images acquired, I can
effectively write the article while also editing the images
to suit. In this time, I will complete: Writing the article
while also editing and implementing the photos. This will
be completed in preparation for posting on the website.
41. Written content – Production schedule
April 28th-30th: I will publish the article on my wix
website, testing the condition of the layout on a separate
device to see if I need to change anything.
With the compilation of the article, I can use the main
images on a promotional post which will appear on my
social medias. This won't take more than a day to
completed. Once the article has been completed, all social
medias posts prepared, I will publish the article while
also posting the promotional posts on my social medias.
Finish
For future post, I will work through the same process,
adapting necessary areas to suit the specific context. For
example, if the photoshoot was near Leeds, I would scout
the location and prepare travel to that location instead.
The process would work relatively similar to the one
down in Herefordshire.
42. Video Content – Production schedule
Video content will be the focus of this project. I'm
creating a channel under the point branding where
all this content will be placed. I have plenty of years
on the platform, so I have a decent understanding of
what not to do when it comes to misrepresenting my
content.
Video will be more personalized, emotional and
dramatic compared to my written content. For an
audience which is of a younger age.
Video will be my main area of focus as it will be
much easier and less time consuming to produce.
43. Video Content – Production schedule
The steps of production of videos will be:
1 – Subject generation – Titles/subjects which would
be suitable for streaming platforms like YouTube
will be interactive and visually entertaining.
2 – decide what subject to use – like my written
work, not every subject will deserve its own video. I
will need to pick and choose the most suitable to
create and produce for my channel.
44. Video Content – Production schedule
3 – theorize the resources necessary for
production – Each video will require different areas
of production. Such as, do I need a camera? Is a
game going to be recorded? i will try to organize
resource I need prior to script writing, so I know
what and when I need a piece of equipment. To
reduce time lost to disorganization.
4 – plan, structure and research video subject – I
will always plan the script and structure of any
video, so that I can grasp the time it will take to
create. Research won't be necessary for all video
subjects, only for explanatory videos such as "setup
guides" about racing, where I will need to know the
facts.
45. Video Content – Production schedule
5 – Gathering the Content – once I understand
what program I'm going to record using OBS and
what shots I want to take, I can gather the content
using mine and my brother's computer. This stage
shouldn't take more than a few hours. Also, some
parts will include both camera and OBS recorded
footage.
6 – Edit the video – once the footage is acquired I
can take it to my pc to edit to be as planned using
Premiere.
46. Video Content – Production schedule
7 – Static secondaries – produce other materials such as
Thumbnails and social media advertising in photoshop for the
video, making it ready for uploading.
8 – uploading the content – Post video on YouTube and
advertisements on social media platforms.
Finish
I shouldn’t need to test compatibility of the video and
advertisement because anyone outside my circle should have
access to this public information.
In my areas of focus tree, I explained how some subjects could
be transferrable between written and video content. This would
reduce the production average, allowing me to produce 2
separate pieces of content for less time. Channels like The Race
and Autosport commonly follow this doctrine of an article and a
video for 1 subject.
47. Video Content – Production schedule
Base resources I will need to produce Video content will be:
Hardware
PC – Recording, editing and publishing of videos will be done on
my pc.
DSLR camera – To record live and post video footage.
Brothers PC – For recording at a higher frame rate. I tested the
capabilities and his seter was better than my own. So I will use
his PC if my own isn't capable of recording 60 frames per
second continuously.
Other accessories – like a hard drive and data cables to transfer
data from one device to another.
Software
OBS – To record applications
Canon Webcam utility – the software to capture my camera
footage
Premiere – Video editing software
Photoshop – For the secondary static elements like the
thumbnails and advertising posts.
48. Video Content – Graphical elements
To increase my workflow, I'm creating my transitions to have
the ability to re-use them across edits. Essentially, my work
here will be:
• Introduction template
• Transition templates
• Graphical element templates
• Outro templates
The aim of creating them now, is so instead of creating new
ones for each video. This will increase my output obviously as I
will spend less time recreating work for each video, therefore I
can focus on content.
I'm creating these in premiere using the same 1920x1080
pixels 59.94 frames per second sequence being used for all my
videos.
49. Video Content – Graphical elements
Production of videos is simpler than the
production of written articles. Being in one place.
March 9th-16th: elements like the introduction
card, transitions, outro card can all be made in
this time in premiere pro.
Other elements like the video itself can be
recorded on my brother's PC ready to implement
into the timeline.
Other elements will begin production like the
music behind the video, which is being made by
my peer from Harrogate.
This stage is different, in relation to the fact that I
will re-use the produced elements.
50. Video Content – Graphical elements
Production of videos is simpler than the
production of written articles. Being in one place.
March 17th-23rd: By this time, I would want to
have completed the production necessary to allow
myself to begin creating individual videos.
Recording footage, I want to use creating a story of
the race for entertainment. Preparing a script to
read off/from will also be prepared in this
time. Once the footage is acquired, I will edit the
timeline of the race.
51. Video Content – Graphical elements
The music should be completed and published by
my peer by this time, I could give him longer, but
it would delay my video production.
There are two more phases the video production
will now go through: DSLR recording with a
narration of the race. Incorporating the created
music with music video-esk style of editing which I
want to include in 3 phases during the video. At
the beginning, middle and end. Using a minuet of
the music for each segment.
52. Video Content – Graphical elements
March 24th-27th: Next on the list is recording and
implementing the narration. For this I will set up
my DSLR camera as tested and use
my microphone to record audio. The narration will
be roughly planned, so as to carry through some
emotion, otherwise it would sound robotic.
Leaving enough time to carry out the recording
and editing is key for this phase. I already ran
into plenty of issues, so 3 days per segment will be
plenty of time to have a smooth ride for the edit of
the video.
53. Video Content – Graphical elements
March 28th – April 4th: the final part of editing is
incorporating the music in 3 segments as I listed. I
want it to provide as a break for the viewer,
otherwise it would be relatively unentertaining,
just a guy constantly narrating over some
gameplay. The music video part is to add emotion
and tensions towards the video.
The last parts of editing will be polishing up the
video, making sure that everything fits together,
ready for uploading.
54. Video Content – Graphical elements
This is also the stage where I prepare the
promotional elements like the thumbnail and
social media posts. I will use the same image for
the social media posts as the thumbnail, so as to
not create any confusion.
Once the video, thumbnail and social media posts
are ready, I can publish the video on YouTube and
release the promotional posts on my social media
account.
55. Video Content – Graphical elements
I will repeat the process for each video.
Specifically, the last video had included a format
which I have planned prior, music video elements
but primarily being a video which includes
narration over gameplay.
I would presume that this video format would be
the most time consuming and highest effort to
create, with all the hurdles I have to cross
through. To reduce the time taken to produce a
video, I could cut the length down and do a simple
subject, like a review.
56. Video Content – Graphical elements
If I wanted to create a second video I would have
to incorporate my written and video planned
timeline. I don’t want the two to clash, therefore
overwhelming my workload. The written piece is
planned to be finished around the 27th of April.
Any time after that I can dedicate to more videos,
which will be one more week of college.
I could produce a shorter video, but not to the
same extent as the first one, I just wouldn’t have
the time.
57. Video Content – Recording and
gathering content
Setting up recordings, ill be using the settings which I found
during experimentation.
Recording camera output
To capture the camera output, I'm changing the way I record.
Instead of recording with the camera itself, I'm taking its
output and recording the displays output with OBS. To do this
I'm taking the output of the display out with a USB-mini 5 pin
connecter to a USB A which then outputs to OBS. The recording
outputs to the same file location as my saved races so I can
know what saved race belongs to what camera video. This
technique won't fill my camera's SD cards allowing me to use it
only for images.
OBS settings:
1080p resolution
59.94 FPS
Video bitrate – 12000 kbps – won't lose frames from
performance loss.
58. Video Content – Camera Video
My camera is just off center to the left of my perspective, this
allows me to get my wheel and myself into frame. Its on a stand
my dad gave me which is set up in a location of my room which
I don’t use much so as to not have any tripping hazard.
Camera settings:
1080p resolution
59.94 Fps
Auto-white balance
Autofocus – Face Tracking
Auto-ISO (max 12800)
Shutter speed – 100
Aperture – 4
File – MP4
These are the settings which I will record all video with. The
resolution, framerate and output file matches the sequence
settings I'm editing in with premiere.
59. Video Content – Camera Video
Auto settings (Autofocus-Face Tracking, Auto-ISO and Auto-
White balance) allows the camera to correct for different
weather conditions. My room will get brighter and darker
depending on the time of day. These settings mitigate the
different maintaining the same colours of the focused areas
which will be my face. The autofocus also allows for flexibility of
movement, I don’t have to remain at a certain distance to keep
in focus, I can move about and still know that the camera is
still focused correctly.
The Shutter speed matches the frequency which UK mains run
at, which is 50Hz. This will completely stop any flickering off
lights in my room shining onto me. I initially set the shutter
speed to 120, and that’s when I decided to change it to 100 to
stop the flickers.
60. Video Content – Recording ACC
Recording races on my brother's pc (organized Friday 5/03/2021,
where he will move his pc setup into my room while for
recording)
I'm using the same OBS settings which records my camera to
record applications (Specifically ACC) so as to have the same
files, resolution and framerates. This won't provide me any
drama when editing the footage.
Ive already gone through the process of saving and recording
the footage.
62. Written production influences
Influences on my written production will primarily be down
to the photoshoot location accessibility. My photoshoots will
always be outdoors and on location, and the current places I
have picked area 400 miles south of my current home.
I will have to bear in mind:
Date – I will have to organize a photoshoot days/weeks
before actually going on location, so as to let the business I
am visiting know of my presence on sight.
The weather – could affect the day I organize the
photoshoot. If the weather is too poor, then I will have to
photoshoot and in turn the article.
Transport – getting to the location will be difficult because I
don’t have my own personal transport. Organizing
beforehand some train/car transport will be necessary. I first
need to get to the accommodation, then I also need transport
from the accommodation to the photoshoot location.
63. Written production influences
Accomodation – I will have to organize
accommodation if I'm away from home for more
than one day. This will be my dad's place, which is
in the heart of the Hereford county.
civilian signatures – I will want signatures of
conformation from the people I take photos of. I will
make aware of the purpose of the photoshoot,
explaining my project.
College – I only have a few times which I can
organize a photoshoot because of college.

Email:
"I'm emailing in regards to your risk assessment
document. I'm organizing a photo shoot with you
guys and I just want to know what precautions I
need to take when dealing with health and safety.
If I could have any information about your upcoming
schedule for the coming months would be incredibly
useful for me, so I can plan ahead and let you guys
know.
Also, suggestions for locations on your course would
be appreciated. "
65. Organizing photoshoots
Ring: I rang the number listed on the side, and the
person on the other end explained-
"Currently private testing is occurring so no public
photoshoots allowed."
"Earliest available time for any photoshoots will be
late April/early May however this could change."
"Motorsport governing body won't allow us to open
till later in the year."
This is a long wait for images I need earlier. I will
have to scout out other locations which I could
potentially shoot at earlier. The problem might be
larger as it’s the motorsport leisure body which has
postponed the opening of this business, so it might
have postponed other similar facilities.
66. Organizing photoshoots
Primarily, Covid-19 is the reason why I cannot
organize a photoshoot at this location when I planned
to.
I haven't thought about not being able to film at
certain locations. To mitigate the chance of not
filming at a location, I will now look for more
potential locations which I could film at.
A higher range of locations will increase my chance
for a photoshoot.
Obviously, I would follow the UK Government
guidelines when it comes to a photoshoot outdoor,
wearing masks, keeping 2 meters (6 feet) away from
anyone else and remaining in my 'Bubble' with my
dad.
67. Organizing photoshoots
go-karting –
https://www.herefordshireraceway.org.uk/
Ring – I called to see the availability of the location and
they stated:
"Their facility is 100% open beond the 12th of April."
"On track photos with the public is allowed, with me
standing at the barriers."
"Shots with me on the track for extreme close ups is also
possible when staff are in the karts."
Now that I know that this facility is open during
my production face, I want to email them about their risk
assessment plan, so I know what to bring and how to
avoid health and safety risks.
68. Organizing photoshoots
Email – I wanted the risk assessment plan, so I
explained the situation with this email:
"I'm a media student at York college, currently working
on my Final. I'm planning a photoshoot with you guys
and I rang earlier today about when your facilities are
open, and Chris notified me that April the 12th and
onwards would be possible. I'll let you guys know the
exact date and time I'll be visiting closer to April.
Just asking for your risk assessment/contingency plan
you have for your facilities. It could be for your current
staff. This would just be used for my planning and Pre-
production document."
I know that this facility is possible to shoot at so I will
look for other information like past weather conditions
and possible dates.
69. Organizing photoshoots
Hereford Weather conditions in spring and early summer:
using https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/research/climate/maps-and-
data/uk-climate-averages/gcq0233j7
In April, the average temperature will be around 13.1°C so I
won't need to bring any other equipment to protect myself and
my equipment against harsh weather conditions.
Rain during the time around April and May will be my only
concern. The average rainfall for this area is 40-60mm for each
month. Hereford in the past only experiences 13 days of rainfall
during April and May, the lowest out the year. I shouldn’t need
to bring any rain protection, but ill put some in the car I'm
travelling in anyway just in case.
The locations
I am visiting
are here
70. Organizing photoshoots
Travelling is not an issue for this location. Its within a 5 minuet
drive. My dad has a car, and to confirm if he is available I rang
him and he stated: "I can drive at any time"
Because the location I'm staying at is so close to the
photoshoot. because of this, I don’t need my dad to stay on
location. I can call him at anytime to come pick me up. It will
literally take 5 minuets to drive.
Gather business code of working
The equipment I will need for a photoshoot outdoors like this
will be:
The camera + its strap
A stand
Waterproof protection
Equipment needed
Signature confirmation
Place im staying
while away from
home.
71. Organizing photoshoots
Looking at the location, I have confirmed that I
can use anywhere on the sides of the track with
the barriers to take photos on.
For extreme closeups I can even go on track if
an instructor is driving the kart I'm taking a
photo of.
72. Organizing photoshoots
Second go-karting location:
http://go-karting-herefordshire.co.uk/
I haven't visited this location before, but it is relatively close to
where I live so it wouldn’t be a hassle for my dad to drive to.
I would take the same precautions as the first go karting track,
following their verbal and written guidelines they provide to
me.
Traveling to this location is about double the distance compared
to Herefordshire raceway. It is still close by; however I wouldn’t
want my dad to leave the facility as it is a lot further of a
distance.

73. Exporting Images
To be able to use the images in Photoshop, I need to export
them. To do this I have to first calculate the dimensions of my
document. Using a calculator
from http://www.photokaboom.com/photography/learn/printin
g/1_calculators.htm#Pixels I found a size in centimeters and
with that the Pixels Per Inch of 508 for an image which is
4000 by 6000 pixels. The same number of pixels for my 4k
images.
74. Video Production influences
Video production will only be hampered by other people
interacting with my work.
Preparing for:
Content gathering on brothers PC – I have to organize a date
and time when I want to use his PC to record. And I will try to
record as much content as possible on my PC.
Integration between Elliot and myself making music – because
I'm outsourcing the music I'm using on my channel, I need to
know its production and how long it will take to complete. The
longer the music takes to create and publish, the longer
my video will take to create. I might need to find some royalty
free music if it does take too long, but that is a last resort.
76. Audience Awareness
I'm diverting my attention towards many different
platforms so as to make my audience aware of my
content no matter the platform they are using.
In a perfect world, if people subscribed to my social
medias such as Instagram, Facebook or twitter: they
would be notified of my upload to the website and
YouTube. Say for example, one of my audience is
subscribed to my Instagram and is just scrolling through
their timeline, they will see my post about my website
upload post and use the link in the post's description to
read it. Essentially, I'm using the social media accounts
as advertisements for my main content medias.
For audience awareness, I'm going to be using:
• Instagram
• Facebook
• Twitter
77. Brand Awareness
Relatively speaking, these 3 medias will all act in the
same manner just on different platform. I recognize that
people don’t have all 3 accounts, but an audience member
only needs to be subscribed to one of them to receive
posts of my uploads.
Coming back to my colour scheme. I'm using the primary
black shapes on all the platforms, with the secondary
colours being diversified.
I find myself occasionally browsing different medias of a
channel, and I like to pick up on the different changes
across platforms. TLDR News being a good example of
following a theme yet being slightly different for each
different media.
78. Creating my Media Accounts
Because all the Pfp's and Banner file sizes are different.
What I will do is create a logo and export it at different
sizes to suit the different platforms.
Here is the base design, which I change for each account:
I then created variations for each social media, changing
the inner layer for each different account. The base
design remains.
79. Creating my Media Accounts
Here are the variations of my media brandings:
Youtube – I positioned a white banner to place the title onto. The
branding is clearly displayed in the logo and on the banner. I
continued the graphical layer which provides the colour, onto the
text layer, providing a continuous style
Facebook – the Facebook branding was the most successful out of
all the social medias. I correctly lined up the profile picture and
banner, when viewed at 100%. It reall comes together and looks
like one image as opposed to separate elements.
Instagram – the instagram branding was simple, as I only had
access to the profile picture, and no banner.
Twitter – twitter could use some work. The profile picture was fine,
however, I found it diffacult to incorporate the banner in the right
position. The image is not placed where I intended it to
80. Creating the Website
hosting my articles is the primary useage of my website.
Back in my initial branding idea generation, I decided to
continue the theming into this website.

82. Creating music for Video
My first call with Elliot my music producer I explained:
I wanted a consistent beat for each song
• The beat should change over time – Introduction, melodic
building, buildup, drop, breakdown chorus ETC. The aim is
to use 1 song for 1 video edit.
I want the ability to pick and choose parts of songs to be able to
use different parts for different emotions.
He explained how he would label areas of the song so I could
easily edit around them. For example, a drop would be a time
where I can incorporate the beat to transition on.
83. Creating music for Video
Here is the first pieces he sent me:
https://youtu.be/al7GLGI0PYg
The music here is really building upon the racing style of music.
Tension is heightening as the song progresses, easily allowing
me to make shots around.
From the last version I have asked for a harder drop and softer
drums. The point being that I want my voice to be as clear as
possible. I will while editing use the constant gain effect to tone
down the music to only have my voice audible, but it will still be
in the background.
