The document discusses the equipment and software used to create a magazine project. It describes using a Canon EOS 60D camera with an 18-135mm lens to take soft, blurry background photos suited for featuring the subject. White LED lights were used to improve exposure and make the subject stand out from backgrounds. Adobe InDesign software was chosen because it is commonly used by professionals to lay out magazines, and it has useful tools for image and shape insertion. Photoshop was utilized to edit photos through tools like burn and sharpen, such as darkening backgrounds and enhancing the foreground subject for the magazine's front cover image.
2. Camera used
Basic Specifications
Full model name: Canon EOS 60D

Kit Lens: 7.50x zoom 18-135mm (29-216mm eq.)
3. How did my camera choice help the
project?
The lense which I used with the DSLR gave the pictures a soft look which I wanted
for my images. Furthermore the lense is easily focusable to blur the background
and bring the background forwards a perfect technique for image in which my
star needed to dominate the image.
The DSLR also offers a quality HD feeling to the images, not only perfect for when
the magazine is printed onto A4 but also to add the quality sealing to my
magazine.
5. How did my lighting help the project?
The white LED lights allowed me to bring my star forwards from the background,
furthermore as the exposure on my original shots were poor as seen below:
For this reason it was essential for the quality of the shots that lights were brought
in. The star must be easily accessible and look good for the magazine to have a
bigger pull.
6. Magazine Creation Software
Adobe InDesign is a desktop publishing software application
produced by Adobe Systems. It can be used to create works
such as posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers, and
books. InDesign can also publish content suitable for tablet
devices in conjunction with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.
7. How did InDesign help my project?
After conducting research on how the professionals create magazines I found that
the main software used was that of InDesign. In order to give my own magazine
the highest quality sealing possible I therefore used the software used by the
professionals.
InDesign offers a range of tools, one of the ones I found most helpful was the ease
at which images and shapes could be inserted. This helped with the changing
drafts of my magazine making changes easy and helping fulfil the needed
changes suggested.
8. Photo editing software
The real power of Photoshop is in working with existing
images. Typical tasks include treating and manipulation,
compositing, converting to different formats, printing, etc.
Photoshop is very strong in the world of printed media and
is popular with newspapers and other publishers.
9. How did Photoshop help with my project?
Photoshop offered the perfect base for editing my photo shoot and manipulating
my photos to the state I wanted them to be in. The prime and most obvious
example of this is seen in my front cover image.
Here the burn and sharpen tool worked perfectly to darken and reduce the impact
of the background and pull BEX into the foreground, essential as the magazine
was entirely focussed around her.
