1. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of
constructing this project?
Skills developed by doing this project
The skills I have developed from this project vary. I have been able to use new programmes
like Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. Both have enabled me to take deeper consideration
into my editing. This is because they both allow more in-depth editing for example making
images more vibrant, increasing brightness, or changing the conditioning etc. This has
allowed me to complete my magazine and make it look more professional as these skills
allow it to conform to conventions well but also make it look realistic and make it look like a
real magazine
Adobe Photoshop
I learnt on Photoshop how to edit images in depth. Photoshop allowed me to further see
into what editing can do in terms of either following conventions or just overall making your
image more quality and making it a more professional image/magazine. The editing ranged
from either cropping my phot to make it a proper and good size to make it conform to
conventions in my magazine or to change the brightness to allow a consistent theme of
colour and overall mood throughout the magazine allowing it to relate to RnB i.e. the
brightness of the urban background to make it look as though it’s in the actual location (the
streets).
Adobe InDesign
InDesign enabled me to learn how to completely put a magazine together. It has enabled
me to also create a full double page spread and with that allow me to follow more
conventions in regards to allowing the text to go from left to right as that’s where the eye
line starts and finishes. Therefore overall, InDesign has gave me the experience and skills to
know how to create the text side of a magazine and also how to construct one fully; putting
the pages in order and in the right spaces and aspects to size. Overall InDesign was one of
the better learning experiences for me as it showed me the more information side to
creating a magazine; text size, layout and how to professionally lay it all out together to
make a realistic looking magazine.
