of constructing this product?

2. Technologies used in the magazine
industry
Process- This is when you make the product.
In design- Is a desktop publishing service made by Adobe systems in 1999
when they made a new page layout from Adobe page maker. The software is
used to design and create publishing media products for example Posters,
Flyers, Brochures, Magazines, Newspapers and Books.
Photoshop- Is a desktop graphic editing programme made by Adobe systems
in 1989. The software is used to edit images as in photographs. Media
products used with this programmes can be anything with a image on the
front to change the look of the photograph.
Illustrator- Is a desktop vector graphic illustrator made by Adobe systems in
1987. The software is used to design type and logo designs. It can be used to
create graphic text for advertisements, 3D logos or just font titles on any
media product.
3. Technologies used in the magazine
industry
Digital media products: Vary from Film, Radio to Websites. Due
to the increasing population of the internet some newspapers
have now started to go online with there media products. This
can be an example of Rupert Murdoch and The Times newspaper
how this has had some benefits when presenting news to the
public as of new technology it allows the website designer to add
additional technology to the article for example: Podcasts, Links
to other stories of interest e.g. politics, a slideshow of images
from the topic scene, videos from news channels and various
advertisements that could be of benefit to you. They have also
created an I pad app where you can select a list from most
interested topics to the least this will enable you to access the
news of your interest more instantly.
4. Technologies I used make my product
To make my music magazine I used Photoshop to create my front cover and my contents page I chose to
use this software as I thought my main image on my front cover needed additional editing as previously it was
looking dull, I did this by using the “Brightness and Contrast” tool. I also used the wand tool to select around
my models body so that the editing of the background would not distort the image of the model I then made
the background more white as the background previously was a cream wall. I then also used the wand tool to
select around my models eyes then selected to “Colour Balance” tool to make my models eyes bright blue
rather than the natural colour of dark blue eyes.
I also used photo shop for my contents page as I needed to edit two images rather than just one my main
image on this page. The main image is of a male model jumping with an electric guitar, I then used the
“Brightness and Contrast” tool to change the look of the image I then used the “Colour Balance” tool to give
my image a green tint to the shot. I then had another image of my female model to edit previously the quality
of the shot was poor and pixelated I first used to wand tool to select around my models outline this was so I
could select the model to only edit not the background, I then used the “Brightness and Contrast” tool to
change the look of my model making it lighter but with more contrast so shadows would be evident in the shot.
I then used the “Sharpness” tool to make my image more sharp and less pixelated. I then used the wand tool
again to select around the eyes to make her have bright blue eyes like my front cover. I found then the quality
of my photograph was still slightly poor however when I shrunk the picture down to the size needed for my
contents page it then looked better quality.
For my double page spread I used In design instead of Photoshop this was because I needed to add
columns of text this differed compared to my front cover and double page spread with barely a lot of text. A
further reason why I chose to use In Design is that I had been shown how to use a drop capital and pull quote
in previous lesson this gave me more knowledge on how to use InDesign whereas I found Photoshop
challenging. For my text on my double page spread I used the “swatches” tool to change the colour of my font
its interior and exterior of my text. I also used the “stroke” tool to chose the weight- width of the outline of my
text. I also used the “Line” tool to create lines that imitated Lily Allen's Q magazine double page spread I then
used the “weight” tool to change the width of the tool.
