1. Mission Statement
The name of the magazine is ‘iQ’, aimed at all sixth form
students at our school, male and female, years 12 and 13.
The design of iQ magazine manages to create a perfect
puree of formality and intrigue; the fonts used will be
solid, eyecatching and easy to read, but neither trivial or
dull. The fonts will also be backed up by the general
white, red and blue colour combination which manages to
maintain all the aforementioned attributes to make an
unpretentious yet sophisticated magazine. iQ magazine
will appeal to all sixth form students not only due to its
accessible but stimulating mode of address, but also
because of the vast array of relatable topics covered. For
example, the magazine will contain articles concerning
revision tips, social tips and job vacancies, which can
interest any sixth former. In addition to this, iQ will
feature gender specific articles such as hair and makeup
tips for girls, and sport articles for boys. The sole
purposes of iQ magazine will be to interest and inform; to
quite simply be a quirky, original and helpful read for all
sixth formers. iQ will be distributed on a monthly basis
from the sixth form office.
2. Target Audience Profile
iQ magazine will be for males and females aged 16-18,
who are burdened by the boredom of full time education.
Their parents fit into the ABC1 bracket, and thanks to
that, so do they. Due to being in sixth form, the target
audience are clearly devoted and motivated workers that
have done well in previous education to be where they
are; they have strong values and high standards.
iQ magazine would suit a myriad of ranging personalities,
from football loving, Nando’s fuelled ‘lads’ to secondhand clothing obsessed hipster girls. However, despite
the differing personalities, they all have certain things in
common; they all love being with their friends, they all
thrive for the feeling of success and they enjoy life.
iQ magazine will act as a guide to the target audience in
order to help them use their potential and be the person
they wish to be. From revision tips and advice on free
period utilization, to teacher interviews and free
curricular gifts, iQ will hold the educational ladder steady
as the target audience climb.
Also, due to their age, the target audience will be
thinking about a whole range of different things in life,
from university, to driving, to relationships, and luckily
for them, iQ is here to help them; they can use iQ to help
them decide on university courses, help them pick the
right car and give advice on how to fix what may be an
uneasy relationship.
