1. Reconnaissance
The image for the DPS in my magazine will be set in a nearby forest, as the
location is accessible, visually appealing and follows the anomalous conventions of
alternative magazines, where many artists happen to find themselves in forests for
whatever reason. One possibility is due to the mystique and eeriness of forests,
which correlates with much of the themes found in the music of alternative
artists. The vast room in the area will allow for a wide shot to be used, giving
ample amounts of room for bodies of text in the spread.
For the image used in the contents page, I will be using a local coffee lounge.
Many fans of alternative music enjoy spending time in coffee lounges due to their
appreciation of the beverage and the relaxed atmospheres present, allowing them
to kick back, relax, and enjoy some good drink and even better music. hence
making it an appropriate location to feature in a magazine, in the hope that it’ll
present the reader with the same relaxed vibe that you’d get in a Seattle coffee
lounge.
