Community College vs University Essay examples
Compare and Contrast Essay
Community College vs. Universities
Choosing a college means going to a new, unfamiliar world of immense possibilities. One of the hardest decisions a high school graduate face is the
choice between attending a Community College or a University. Although Universities and CommunityCollege serve the same purpose, each has its
differences and similarities in their learning such as the admission requirements, expenses, size, and student life. Community College are the most
common type of two–year College that prepares you to continue your education, are often an affordable and convenient option. Universities you can
earn Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees which is more expensive. At a University, you can...show more content...
Students attending private universities pay an average tuition of $35,374. Those who attend a community college for the first two year of their
education save $8,000 or more. Since most of the same financial aid including Pell grants and Stafford loans is available for any institution choice,
students in the lowest income brackets can expect a larger financial aid refund from a community college than a university. Those who need a
university education to meet their career goals may be able to attend a community college part time while they work and save up. Then, when they
transfer to a university for their final two years, they may have saved enough that with financial aid, they can pursue their four–year degree.
Community Colleges tend to have fewer students per class, which means more attention from teacher to student. This is good for students who like
access to their instructors so they can ask questions and avoid getting lost in the course material. Universities are bigger than community colleges and it
takes a little longer to find your way around campus. Most teenagers graduate from high school eager to leave their parents house and do grown up
things. The benefit of attending a University is living on campus instead of your parent's home. Not all universities have dorms, but the majority of
them do. Which you have to pay for parking, fitness center, laundry and other fees included. Both university and community colleges sponsor

College: Is It Worth It? Essay
We are told to "go to college" by family, media, and teachers, but we are never given an explanation on why it's important for us to get a higher
education. The importance of higher education is so we can obtain a career that can support our needs and wants. It's also important because it gives
you an advantage when trying to get a job. Employers require a higher form of education, which is necessary for our society to advance. There aren't
many jobs that accept people with a high school diploma as their highest form of education. Employers want people that know what they're doing, and
so does our society. In order for people to go into the career field they want, they need to go to college to learn everything that comes with that career.

What we get out of the college experience, we use in our day to day lives. Even the things we think aren't important or useful end up becoming
helpful. The material we learn in college is fundamental when it comes jobs and life in general. We are taught to make choices. We are taught
how the real world works, and how to turn our education into our way of life. "...the really significant education in thinking that we're supposed to
get in a place like this isn't really about the capacity to think, but rather about the choice of what to think about." (Wallace 199). Not only do we get
a lot out of getting a college degree in what we want to do, but so does our society. There are requirements for every job for a reason. Jobs need
people that specialize in just that career field. They want us to be passionate about what we do and more importantly know exactly what we are
doing. For example, hospitals have no room for mistakes because not only may it cost a life, it can also costs them money. We feel safer knowing
people know how to do their jobs right. College education is necessary whenever there is a shortage in certain careers. It's important to have higher
education so there can be growth and competition in our society. It takes money to make money. It does cost a lot to pay for college, but in the end
it's worth it. By the end of the college process, we can have a college degree and could be getting

Essay on Returning to College as an Adult
Returning to College as an Adult Coming to college as an adult, we have many expectations and preconceptions of what college will or will not be.
The expectations we have can influence our college life for the better or the worse. My experience since starting college has been an interesting one.
People have misconceptions about college because they do not know what to expect. After doing some research, I have concluded that there are three
major factors that are often misunderstood about college life. The first is the financial aspect of college. Second, is the relationship between the
professors and students. Third is time management. These three factors play an important role in why people are afraid to go down the path to college.

There are many options available from low–tuition state universities, financial aid, employer tuition reimbursement. In some cases, you can be
eligible for various types of grants. Being a single mother or just shopping at a certain supermarket can make you eligible. There is a
misconception about the professors (sometimes called instructors). Questions arise such as; will they make time for me when I need the extra help?
How large will the class be? Will they understand that this may not be as easy for me as it is for others? These questions enter our minds and may
seem discouraging at times. Through my personal experiences I have found that classroom atmospheres may not always be for everyone. However,
that does not mean college life is not for everyone. You can take many alternative routes. You can take advantage of telecourses, online courses,
accelerated courses and many other options that may be more suitable. My professors have been great. They come in earlier to help and return e–mails
and/or phone calls promptly. You also expect to be able to accomplish your work quickly and with minimal stress, leaving more time to work and
spend with your family. You expect to be able to do what you did in high school and still pass. However college, by far, is nowhere as easy as most
anticipate. You have to study, unlike high school, where you could float on by with A's by seldomly attending class. College is harder than high school

Essay Growing Up
When I Grow Up..
"Being 'grown up' isn't as fun as the idea of growing up."
–AmberGrace Seguin
Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do 'grownup' things? We spent our whole childhood
thinking of what we would do when we finally 'grew up', and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven't made up our mind of what it
is we will do when we grow up. We've painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it'll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it
finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into action, it's not nearly as fun as creating the painting.

"The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult; the day he forgives
himself, he becomes wise." –Alden Nowlan As we continue to grow up, we learn that being grown up is not as we imagined it. We once convinced
ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we
think back at our youth and laugh because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than ever, we crave
for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was
simple and we could imagine it any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it.
"A grownup is a child with layers on." –Woody

Reflective Essay on College Writing
Reflective Essay on College Writing
This semester was my very first semester as a college student. Being the first, it was probably the semester I would learn the most in. I learned the
expectations for writing that I will have to live up to for the next four years of my college career. Though my high school teachers were usually
demanding because I was in the Honors English section throughout high school, writing in college has still ?raised the bar? for me. Also, in high
school, we would have weeks to pick a topic, create a thesis, outline the paper, write the paper, and then revise the paper. In college, the timerestraints
are not quite as lenient. I?ve had to learn to manage my time and be more productive with what free moments I...show more content...
I definitely learned a great deal from our discussions about this book. I really did not like it at all until the class sat down and analyzed the many
levels Conrad addressed in his story. I thought the endless paradoxes in the book, once brought to light, were actually very interesting. My
favorite section, however, was the poetry unit. I really enjoyed the poem ?The Blues? by Billy Collins the most because of my respect for music. I
think Collins really makes a point in his poem about just how important music is and how it allows people who are very different to connect on
many levels. I also loved ?Love Calls Us to the Things of This World? by Richard Wilbur. The imagery in this poem was absolutely amazing, and I
adored how he made the ordinary things seem mystical with his words. I loved how the laundry became angels. If only we could look at the world
from that point of view more often, it would be a much happier place.
The criticisms in college have even been somewhat enjoyable and interesting to read. I think I began to like the stories and poems we read in class
more and more as we discussed them and looked at different authorities? opinions. I found a lot of the information in the databases very useful. For the
Antigone research project, the JSTORS database gave me hundreds of articles dealing with my topic. I could narrow down what I was looking for and

High School vs. College Essay examples
High School vs. College A very important part of life is education. In order to acquire a satisfying education, one should complete high school prior to
college. College and high school have two different levels of education, but both are trying to further student's knowledge. As recent high school
graduates and college freshman's many can clarify similarities and differences between the two. Some obvious similarities are that both have
assignments, classrooms, and students. Although college and high school have many differences three of the main ones are the teachers, classes, and
responsibilities. Teachers and college professors are one main difference. Teachers in high school often write notes on an overhead and tell you the

Classes are the second main reason high school differs from college. Classes in high school generally consist of no more that 25 students.
Counselors usually arrange your schedule the way they think is best for you. You are not responsible for knowing what it takes to graduate. Usually
the school year is 26 weeks long; classes may have to be taken the whole year in order to get credit for them. You are graded on most assignments done
in class. In college some classes may have from 75–100 students. It is your responsibility to enroll in the classes that are required for your major, plus
a week for final exams. The year is divided into two 14 week semesters; most classes need to be taken the complete semester in order to get credit.
College professors tend to grade students on tests and major papers. Responsibility has a lot to do when it comes to high school and college. When
you attend high school you are provided textbooks for each class. Your time is usually structured by others (parents and/or teachers). Many parents
are there to wake you up in the morning before school starts. In high school you are required to go to school everyday. You often read or hear
presentations once in order to learn what you need to know. Students are expected to read short stories at home which will be re–taught in class. When
in college you must pay for each textbook necessary for class.

The Dreaded English Class
The dreaded English 102. Could this be my final English course in my career as a student? I don't know for sure. I still need to decide what my
major will be in. There is something that I know for sure, that is, needing to take this class to move on. I am not certain how my time in this class
will go, but I plan to work hard to get the best grade that I can. Hence, I have decided to get this out of the way now, I look to fine–tune my writing
skills, and I expect this course to help me understand my writing style. To start, I chose this class because I knew that eventually I would need to
complete it. What better time to do it, than right now? I had recently completed a math course this past semester, so I did not want to take another
stressful class that I find to not be my strongest subject right after. My brother and some friends have mentioned that this course isn't as bad as it is
said to be. That is what pushed me to sign up and attempt to complete this course. Being a part time student and working full time is a lot to
balance on ones plate. I have learned that from experience. I formally was a full time student and worked part time, but the roles tend to reverse once
you find yourself struggling to pay bills. Seeing that this class isn't as costly as a math course, and isn't as time restraining either. This course will
give me more time at work and more time to study. This sums up the reasons I chose to complete English 102. I hope to gain more writing experience in

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and
done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the
middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my
essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I
use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing,
and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not
have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it
holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the
importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate
enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

Essay on Reasons for Returning to College
Returning back to school was a very natural decision for me. It seemed to be the next logical step in my personal and career goals. My ultimate
goal is to be happy and healthy and be a good provider and role model. With that set aside for now, my next goal is to be financially stable and able
to provide for my family in ways that my family was not able to provide for me. I definitely expect to work for what I want and earn every bit of it.
The most recent motivator was that my company was willing to contribute a huge chunk of the yearly tuition, therefore removing some financial
burden. This makes me feel like they truly care about my future and they really want to see me succeed.
I have several personal reasons for returning to school....show more content...
I am also attracted to the idea of being a life long learner. I feel there is always more to gain and learning never ends. Whether it?s in the classroom, at
home, or in social situations, everyone has something to offer to me to expand my knowledge base. At the university, I hope to learn new theories and
practices that I?ve never thought about that I can apply to my daily life. My classmates will tell of their experiences that may be forever imprinted
into my memory. My instructors have a wealth of knowledge that I am eager to absorb. I feel that knowledge and information are the most powerful
tools to possess and use in everyday situations.
At this point in my life, I am content with where I am now, but I know there is more out there. If I do not concentrate on my goals that I am mentally
and physically capable to accomplish, my self esteem tends to suffer. It is important to obtain my goals in order to be fully content in my personal life.
I thrive on a good challenge. For example, if an assigned task is too easy, I tend to get bored and undervalue myself as a whole. I wonder why this
person assigned this task to me; do they think I am not capable of a more difficult task? I expect my courses at the university to challenge me in ways
I have never been challenged before.
The last reason I am returning to school is because I want to be a role model for my son. I feel

My College Experience
Throughout my lifetime I have listened to people reflect back on their college experiences and explain how college is supposed to be "the best
experience of your life." The summer after my senior year I use to try and imagine what my first semester was going to be like based on what I had
heard people talk about in the past. After my first semester at NC State I realized that I couldn't fully understand what college was like until I

I can remember missing 8:05 classes because I stayed out too late the night before. In high school the teacher would constantly remind the students
when certain assignments were due, but this was not the case in college. I learned that the hard way my first semester. Sometimes I forgot to turn in
an assignment because I didn't properly read my syllabus and my professor never mentioned it. These were all new problems that could have easily
let escalate without taking the proper actions. For the most part I was doing fairly well but a few of my grades began to plummet. I was losing the
confidence in myself and started to wonder if going to college had been the best decision. The time had come for me to grow up and become an adult
even I didn't feel the time was right. I immediately began attending tutoring sessions, working with peers and also keeping a daily to–do list. These
factors were the eventually led to drastic improvement and success. After my first semester I learned how better manage my time, take advantage of
campus resources and also how to organize myself better. These struggles also taught me that sometimes I try and rush through things instead of
taking my time. I realized that one of my strong points is being able to really do well when my back is against the wall. Although I was unhappy
while facing obstacles I am happy I experienced them. I believe this experience was the reason for my

Suicide among college students Essay example
SUICIDE AMONG COLLEGE STUDENTS
Suicide has become a critical, national problem and the extent of this is mind–boggling. Suicides have been proven to be one of the leading causes of
death among college students. According to Webters dictionary "suicide is the act killing oneself on purpose". It derived from the Latin sui, meaning
"self", and caedere, which means "to kill". But this is just a definition, because an actual suicide holds different meanings to people such as tragic,
shocking, a relief, a cry for help, a shame, heroic, the right choice, punishment, revenge, protest, anger, a mistake, desperate, hurtful and many more.
But why do people, like college students who have...show more content...
Another theory that Jamison linked to suicide is the feeling of pressure to succeed. Suicide rates are higher in colleges and universities where there
is a greater population, which causes an increase in competition for jobs, grades, getting ones desired major and in school sports. The pressure to
achieve academically can be intense when lot of money on education is on the line, when the pressure is on of performing well enough for
acceptance in certain degree programs, law school or medical school because during college years a person's potential career is at risk.
Also, in today's society, the family can be quite different from the stereotypical family of the 1950's where the father went to work and the mom
stayed at home. Today, with single parent families and families where both parents may be working full time the child is the one who is getting left
out. The thought of suicide just doesn't come when a person goes to college but it develops throughout the years and then the act itself of suicide. I
think great stress is put upon youth today starting in early childhood that contribute to strain and depression in latter years. Most enter daycare at an
early age and continue into preschool. When intermediate school starts, they are in the early–morning and after–school programs. Children left to their
own devices at an early age develop sensations of loneliness. Many go home to an empty house with no

Examples Of Academic Reflection
During the whole process of designing the IMC plan for HP Sprocket in this semester, I have earned valuable experience about teamwork, and I
have learned lessons not only from class, but also from the whole working process. First of all, I have to admit that this group is one of the best
groups I've ever had, I used to think that only failed experience helps people learn and grow. However, this time in a well–organised group, I found that
I was wrong, positive experience contributes as well. This essay will reflect what I have learned, and it will be mainly divided into two parts:
academic reflection and experiential reflection.
Academic Reflection
In an IMC plan, separate segment needs to cooperate with each other through organisational communications in order to ensure that audiences can
receive a same key message from different channels (Ots and Nyilasy 2015, 134–135). Personally, I feel it is perfectly understandable as a first–time
IMC practitioner. In this group work, because we do not have much time to discuss the "Big Idea" at the very beginning, we decided to divide the work
first and then combine them together to find out the "Big Idea". However, I found that I cannot come up with useful strategies without effectively
communicating with my teammates about our goal for this plan. After we have finished our first draft and uploaded it to Google Drive, we all agreed
that this is a weak plan, because the messages we try to deliver in each piece do not have much in common.
As Percy (2013, 2–3) pointed out, both the key and the goal of IMC planning are "to deliver a consistent message". This made me think we might be
wrong at the aiming stage. In this scenario, assigning work without figuring out the requirement of an IMC plan is the problem of our group, and I
need to learn that figuring out the main requirements and setting a clear goal are essential steps for innovative projects like an IMC plan. Because they
can improve both individual's task performance and group's working efficiency (Hoegl and Parboteeah 2003, 4). There may have certain groups that
can perform well without cooperating tightly, like a calculation group, but IMC group is definitely not one of them. Which reminds me that in the

I was determined to keep school as my top priority and put it above anything else. During high school I stayed on track with every assignment, I
studied hard for every test, and trust me when I say this I struggled at times, sometimes more on certain subjects, however I made sure I tried my
hardest to understand every subject and if I needed help I would take the time to go ask my teachers for help. Although in high school some
challenges did approach me, I did not let myself down and I was determined to do anything in my hands to accomplish getting good grades. All the
hard work and determination paid off and I ended up getting most A's and some B's.
In conclusion the main lesson I learned from this experience is that everyone deserves a second chance. I wanted to change my mentality and I wanted
to do better at school, therefore I determined myself to make these changes. Even though it did take a lot of work, the results were worth so much more.

Personal Growth in College Essay
So far, the college experience has made me a changed person. College changed me into a better person on many occasions. I have learned to be more
responsible, when it comes down to getting work done. In college you must be responsible. I have also changed my attitude. Moving from high
school to college is a big step; if you don't change your ways for the better then you might not be successful in college. When you reach college then is
the time that you become an adult.
First off, the college life has changed me for the better. I am much more responsible in many different ways. I had to change my study habits, or should I

That's just one example, there are many more. Another reason college is a big step is because you're on your own, and you don't have nobody to tell you
what to do, you make your own decisions when it has to deal with getting up early in the morning to go to class, you have your parents or anyone to
wake you up, it's a big step, you just have to stay focus.
Third of all, you have to change your attitude toward school. You have to want to finish school; you have to think about the money you are
spending to go to school. For example you are paying for every class you take and if you fail a class then you are paying for the same class again.
College is a major step from high school. I personally wasn't ready for college, but this being my second year I understand what I have to do to
finish school. I understand more and more why education is a major issue in life, especially a college education. Entering college you have to change
your game plan to get where you want to be in life.
In conclusion, the college experience has made me a changed person. It has made me a changed person for the better. I have learned a lot, I have
learned responsibility. Without responsibility in college you will not make very far. You must get your work done, and be punctual. You must make
the right decisions, don't let peer pressure get to you, try to avoid it. Don't let college change you for the worst, take advantage of

  • 2. Community College vs University Essay examples Compare and Contrast Essay Community College vs. Universities Choosing a college means going to a new, unfamiliar world of immense possibilities. One of the hardest decisions a high school graduate face is the choice between attending a Community College or a University. Although Universities and CommunityCollege serve the same purpose, each has its differences and similarities in their learning such as the admission requirements, expenses, size, and student life. Community College are the most common type of two–year College that prepares you to continue your education, are often an affordable and convenient option. Universities you can earn Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees which is more expensive. At a University, you can...show more content... Students attending private universities pay an average tuition of $35,374. Those who attend a community college for the first two year of their education save $8,000 or more. Since most of the same financial aid including Pell grants and Stafford loans is available for any institution choice, students in the lowest income brackets can expect a larger financial aid refund from a community college than a university. Those who need a university education to meet their career goals may be able to attend a community college part time while they work and save up. Then, when they transfer to a university for their final two years, they may have saved enough that with financial aid, they can pursue their four–year degree. Community Colleges tend to have fewer students per class, which means more attention from teacher to student. This is good for students who like access to their instructors so they can ask questions and avoid getting lost in the course material. Universities are bigger than community colleges and it takes a little longer to find your way around campus. Most teenagers graduate from high school eager to leave their parents house and do grown up things. The benefit of attending a University is living on campus instead of your parent's home. Not all universities have dorms, but the majority of them do. Which you have to pay for parking, fitness center, laundry and other fees included. Both university and community colleges sponsor Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. College: Is It Worth It? Essay We are told to "go to college" by family, media, and teachers, but we are never given an explanation on why it's important for us to get a higher education. The importance of higher education is so we can obtain a career that can support our needs and wants. It's also important because it gives you an advantage when trying to get a job. Employers require a higher form of education, which is necessary for our society to advance. There aren't many jobs that accept people with a high school diploma as their highest form of education. Employers want people that know what they're doing, and so does our society. In order for people to go into the career field they want, they need to go to college to learn everything that comes with that career. ...show more content... What we get out of the college experience, we use in our day to day lives. Even the things we think aren't important or useful end up becoming helpful. The material we learn in college is fundamental when it comes jobs and life in general. We are taught to make choices. We are taught how the real world works, and how to turn our education into our way of life. "...the really significant education in thinking that we're supposed to get in a place like this isn't really about the capacity to think, but rather about the choice of what to think about." (Wallace 199). Not only do we get a lot out of getting a college degree in what we want to do, but so does our society. There are requirements for every job for a reason. Jobs need people that specialize in just that career field. They want us to be passionate about what we do and more importantly know exactly what we are doing. For example, hospitals have no room for mistakes because not only may it cost a life, it can also costs them money. We feel safer knowing people know how to do their jobs right. College education is necessary whenever there is a shortage in certain careers. It's important to have higher education so there can be growth and competition in our society. It takes money to make money. It does cost a lot to pay for college, but in the end it's worth it. By the end of the college process, we can have a college degree and could be getting Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay on Returning to College as an Adult Returning to College as an Adult Coming to college as an adult, we have many expectations and preconceptions of what college will or will not be. The expectations we have can influence our college life for the better or the worse. My experience since starting college has been an interesting one. People have misconceptions about college because they do not know what to expect. After doing some research, I have concluded that there are three major factors that are often misunderstood about college life. The first is the financial aspect of college. Second, is the relationship between the professors and students. Third is time management. These three factors play an important role in why people are afraid to go down the path to college. ...show more content... There are many options available from low–tuition state universities, financial aid, employer tuition reimbursement. In some cases, you can be eligible for various types of grants. Being a single mother or just shopping at a certain supermarket can make you eligible. There is a misconception about the professors (sometimes called instructors). Questions arise such as; will they make time for me when I need the extra help? How large will the class be? Will they understand that this may not be as easy for me as it is for others? These questions enter our minds and may seem discouraging at times. Through my personal experiences I have found that classroom atmospheres may not always be for everyone. However, that does not mean college life is not for everyone. You can take many alternative routes. You can take advantage of telecourses, online courses, accelerated courses and many other options that may be more suitable. My professors have been great. They come in earlier to help and return e–mails and/or phone calls promptly. You also expect to be able to accomplish your work quickly and with minimal stress, leaving more time to work and spend with your family. You expect to be able to do what you did in high school and still pass. However college, by far, is nowhere as easy as most anticipate. You have to study, unlike high school, where you could float on by with A's by seldomly attending class. College is harder than high school and therefore Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay Growing Up When I Grow Up.. "Being 'grown up' isn't as fun as the idea of growing up." –AmberGrace Seguin Remember when we were young and all we could think of was growing up and getting to do 'grownup' things? We spent our whole childhood thinking of what we would do when we finally 'grew up', and here we are, almost completely grown up and we still haven't made up our mind of what it is we will do when we grow up. We've painted this pretty little picture in our head of what it'll be like when we eventually do grow up, and when it finally comes for the picture to be taken off the wall and put into action, it's not nearly as fun as creating the painting. "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional." –Anonymous We all have the choice...show more content... "The day the child realizes that all adults are imperfect, he becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an adult; the day he forgives himself, he becomes wise." –Alden Nowlan As we continue to grow up, we learn that being grown up is not as we imagined it. We once convinced ourselves that growing up was the goal to achieve, and life would be much better once we were in fact grown up. When we in fact do grow up, we think back at our youth and laugh because we thought growing up was the most wondrous thing to accomplish, but now, more than ever, we crave for our youth; for the days we would sit in the grass and daydream of what we are to become when we grow up; and finally for the days when life was simple and we could imagine it any which way we wanted it and no one could do a thing about it. My education is very serious to me, I study daily and take part in study groups. This scholarship will allow me to better myself and help me in the future. As a member of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), the 5000 Role Models of Excellence, and Jag Mentors, I've learned to take advantage of all opportunities within my reach. Examining the mysteries of the mind, is something that really excites me. My only aspirations are to be successful in life. I've never known the world to be compliant, so I can't plan out my personal life as easy as my professional life. My goal is to be happily married with kids one day, but I have no idea how I will get there and hope for the best. I've always feared being alone, my goal is finding someone I can share a life with. The world after high school is something I'm anticipating, going to a great school, where I can be educated in a subject that I crave to know more about. My life after high school is something I hope that will be something truly amazing. I planned the outline, but the future holds many great opportunities that may come my way. I plan on being a successful psychiatrist, but have no idea the twist and turns that lie ahead. I took The Introduction to Economics in grade 12 and I received the grade of 92%. Since then I decided to develop a deep understanding of the economy, therefore, I was enrolled in The Vancouver School of Economics (VSE). Studying in VSE required us to deliver a great number of presentations, which has enhanced my confidence and communication skills. Also, this program has promoted leadership skills and teamwork skills which have prepared me well for further study. In my opinion, learning Economics in more than one countries would be helpful with my academic knowledge and a good image for future occupations. It was this idea that motivated me in my current application for the exchange program at University College London in The United Kingdom. The United Kingdom is a country full of cultural diversity, where ancient buildings sit alongside contemporary architecture. The UK is also famous for academics, it is one of the most popular countries to go for earning a high–quality education. The UK institutions rank among the best in the world. • 8. Reflective Essay on College Writing Reflective Essay on College Writing This semester was my very first semester as a college student. Being the first, it was probably the semester I would learn the most in. I learned the expectations for writing that I will have to live up to for the next four years of my college career. Though my high school teachers were usually demanding because I was in the Honors English section throughout high school, writing in college has still ?raised the bar? for me. Also, in high school, we would have weeks to pick a topic, create a thesis, outline the paper, write the paper, and then revise the paper. In college, the timerestraints are not quite as lenient. I?ve had to learn to manage my time and be more productive with what free moments I...show more content... I definitely learned a great deal from our discussions about this book. I really did not like it at all until the class sat down and analyzed the many levels Conrad addressed in his story. I thought the endless paradoxes in the book, once brought to light, were actually very interesting. My favorite section, however, was the poetry unit. I really enjoyed the poem ?The Blues? by Billy Collins the most because of my respect for music. I think Collins really makes a point in his poem about just how important music is and how it allows people who are very different to connect on many levels. I also loved ?Love Calls Us to the Things of This World? by Richard Wilbur. The imagery in this poem was absolutely amazing, and I adored how he made the ordinary things seem mystical with his words. I loved how the laundry became angels. If only we could look at the world from that point of view more often, it would be a much happier place. The criticisms in college have even been somewhat enjoyable and interesting to read. I think I began to like the stories and poems we read in class more and more as we discussed them and looked at different authorities? opinions. • 9. High School vs. College Essay examples High School vs. College A very important part of life is education. In order to acquire a satisfying education, one should complete high school prior to college. College and high school have two different levels of education, but both are trying to further student's knowledge. As recent high school graduates and college freshman's many can clarify similarities and differences between the two. Some obvious similarities are that both have assignments, classrooms, and students. Although college and high school have many differences three of the main ones are the teachers, classes, and responsibilities. Teachers and college professors are one main difference. Teachers in high school often write notes on an overhead and tell you the ...show more content... Classes are the second main reason high school differs from college. Classes in high school generally consist of no more that 25 students. Counselors usually arrange your schedule the way they think is best for you. You are not responsible for knowing what it takes to graduate. Usually the school year is 26 weeks long; classes may have to be taken the whole year in order to get credit for them. You are graded on most assignments done in class. In college some classes may have from 75–100 students. It is your responsibility to enroll in the classes that are required for your major, plus a week for final exams. The year is divided into two 14 week semesters; most classes need to be taken the complete semester in order to get credit. College professors tend to grade students on tests and major papers. Responsibility has a lot to do when it comes to high school and college. When you attend high school you are provided textbooks for each class. Your time is usually structured by others (parents and/or teachers). Many parents are there to wake you up in the morning before school starts. In high school you are required to go to school everyday. You often read or hear presentations once in order to learn what you need to know. Students are expected to read short stories at home which will be re–taught in class. When in college you must pay for each textbook necessary for class. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. The Dreaded English Class The dreaded English 102. Could this be my final English course in my career as a student? I don't know for sure. I still need to decide what my major will be in. There is something that I know for sure, that is, needing to take this class to move on. I am not certain how my time in this class will go, but I plan to work hard to get the best grade that I can. Hence, I have decided to get this out of the way now, I look to fine–tune my writing skills, and I expect this course to help me understand my writing style. To start, I chose this class because I knew that eventually I would need to complete it. What better time to do it, than right now? I had recently completed a math course this past semester, so I did not want to take another stressful class that I find to not be my strongest subject right after. My brother and some friends have mentioned that this course isn't as bad as it is said to be. That is what pushed me to sign up and attempt to complete this course. Being a part time student and working full time is a lot to balance on ones plate. I have learned that from experience. I formally was a full time student and worked part time, but the roles tend to reverse once you find yourself struggling to pay bills. Seeing that this class isn't as costly as a math course, and isn't as time restraining either. This course will give me more time at work and more time to study. This sums up the reasons I chose to complete English 102. I hope to gain more writing experience in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Essay on Reasons for Returning to College Returning back to school was a very natural decision for me. It seemed to be the next logical step in my personal and career goals. My ultimate goal is to be happy and healthy and be a good provider and role model. With that set aside for now, my next goal is to be financially stable and able to provide for my family in ways that my family was not able to provide for me. I definitely expect to work for what I want and earn every bit of it. The most recent motivator was that my company was willing to contribute a huge chunk of the yearly tuition, therefore removing some financial burden. This makes me feel like they truly care about my future and they really want to see me succeed. I have several personal reasons for returning to school....show more content... I am also attracted to the idea of being a life long learner. I feel there is always more to gain and learning never ends. Whether it?s in the classroom, at home, or in social situations, everyone has something to offer to me to expand my knowledge base. At the university, I hope to learn new theories and practices that I?ve never thought about that I can apply to my daily life. My classmates will tell of their experiences that may be forever imprinted into my memory. My instructors have a wealth of knowledge that I am eager to absorb. I feel that knowledge and information are the most powerful tools to possess and use in everyday situations. At this point in my life, I am content with where I am now, but I know there is more out there. If I do not concentrate on my goals that I am mentally and physically capable to accomplish, my self esteem tends to suffer. It is important to obtain my goals in order to be fully content in my personal life. I thrive on a good challenge. For example, if an assigned task is too easy, I tend to get bored and undervalue myself as a whole. I wonder why this person assigned this task to me; do they think I am not capable of a more difficult task? I expect my courses at the university to challenge me in ways I have never been challenged before. The last reason I am returning to school is because I want to be a role model for my son. • 13. My College Experience Essay examples My College Experience Throughout my lifetime I have listened to people reflect back on their college experiences and explain how college is supposed to be "the best experience of your life." The summer after my senior year I use to try and imagine what my first semester was going to be like based on what I had heard people talk about in the past. After my first semester at NC State I realized that I couldn't fully understand what college was like until I experienced it for myself. My first couple of weeks at Ohio State was rough and really tested my strength (mental and physical). I faced challenges and obstacles that I had never heard about in those past college experience conversations. All of a sudden there was no one to get me out of...show more content... I can remember missing 8:05 classes because I stayed out too late the night before. In high school the teacher would constantly remind the students when certain assignments were due, but this was not the case in college. I learned that the hard way my first semester. Sometimes I forgot to turn in an assignment because I didn't properly read my syllabus and my professor never mentioned it. These were all new problems that could have easily let escalate without taking the proper actions. For the most part I was doing fairly well but a few of my grades began to plummet. I was losing the confidence in myself and started to wonder if going to college had been the best decision. The time had come for me to grow up and become an adult even I didn't feel the time was right. I immediately began attending tutoring sessions, working with peers and also keeping a daily to–do list. These factors were the eventually led to drastic improvement and success. After my first semester I learned how better manage my time, take advantage of campus resources and also how to organize myself better. These struggles also taught me that sometimes I try and rush through things instead of taking my time. I realized that one of my strong points is being able to really do well when my back is against the wall. Although I was unhappy while facing obstacles I am happy I experienced them. • 14. Suicide among college students Essay example SUICIDE AMONG COLLEGE STUDENTS Suicide has become a critical, national problem and the extent of this is mind–boggling. Suicides have been proven to be one of the leading causes of death among college students. According to Webters dictionary "suicide is the act killing oneself on purpose". It derived from the Latin sui, meaning "self", and caedere, which means "to kill". But this is just a definition, because an actual suicide holds different meanings to people such as tragic, shocking, a relief, a cry for help, a shame, heroic, the right choice, punishment, revenge, protest, anger, a mistake, desperate, hurtful and many more. But why do people, like college students who have...show more content... Another theory that Jamison linked to suicide is the feeling of pressure to succeed. Suicide rates are higher in colleges and universities where there is a greater population, which causes an increase in competition for jobs, grades, getting ones desired major and in school sports. The pressure to achieve academically can be intense when lot of money on education is on the line, when the pressure is on of performing well enough for acceptance in certain degree programs, law school or medical school because during college years a person's potential career is at risk. Also, in today's society, the family can be quite different from the stereotypical family of the 1950's where the father went to work and the mom stayed at home. Today, with single parent families and families where both parents may be working full time the child is the one who is getting left out. The thought of suicide just doesn't come when a person goes to college but it develops throughout the years and then the act itself of suicide. I think great stress is put upon youth today starting in early childhood that contribute to strain and depression in latter years. Most enter daycare at an early age and continue into preschool. When intermediate school starts, they are in the early–morning and after–school programs. Children left to their own devices at an early age develop sensations of loneliness. Many go home to an empty house with no Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 16. Examples Of Academic Reflection During the whole process of designing the IMC plan for HP Sprocket in this semester, I have earned valuable experience about teamwork, and I have learned lessons not only from class, but also from the whole working process. First of all, I have to admit that this group is one of the best groups I've ever had, I used to think that only failed experience helps people learn and grow. However, this time in a well–organised group, I found that I was wrong, positive experience contributes as well. This essay will reflect what I have learned, and it will be mainly divided into two parts: academic reflection and experiential reflection. Academic Reflection In an IMC plan, separate segment needs to cooperate with each other through organisational communications in order to ensure that audiences can receive a same key message from different channels (Ots and Nyilasy 2015, 134–135). Personally, I feel it is perfectly understandable as a first–time IMC practitioner. In this group work, because we do not have much time to discuss the "Big Idea" at the very beginning, we decided to divide the work first and then combine them together to find out the "Big Idea". However, I found that I cannot come up with useful strategies without effectively communicating with my teammates about our goal for this plan. After we have finished our first draft and uploaded it to Google Drive, we all agreed that this is a weak plan, because the messages we try to deliver in each piece do not have much in common. As Percy (2013, 2–3) pointed out, both the key and the goal of IMC planning are "to deliver a consistent message". This made me think we might be wrong at the aiming stage. In this scenario, assigning work without figuring out the requirement of an IMC plan is the problem of our group, and I need to learn that figuring out the main requirements and setting a clear goal are essential steps for innovative projects like an IMC plan. Because they can improve both individual's task performance and group's working efficiency (Hoegl and Parboteeah 2003, 4). There may have certain groups that can perform well without cooperating tightly, like a calculation group, but IMC group is definitely not one of them. Which reminds me that in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Failure In College Essay Failure is a part of everyone's daily lives; however, depending on the person you are you can choose to embrace it or keep it locked up inside of you. I am a person that embraces failure and can overcome challenges that come my way. My GPA stands at a 3.5. When people see that type of score a lot of the times they think to themselves that the student never encounters difficulties with any subject in school. Although that may be the case , my story is different. As the oldest child in my family living in a mexican cultured home, having nobody to ask for help due to the fact that my parents had not much educational background and were spanish speakers, was never easy. During high school I stayed on track with every assignment, I studied hard for every test, and trust me when I say this I struggled at times, sometimes more on certain subjects, however I made sure I tried my hardest to understand every subject and if I needed help I would take the time to go ask my teachers for help. Although in high school some challenges did approach me, I did not let myself down and I was determined to do anything in my hands to accomplish getting good grades. All the hard work and determination paid off and I ended up getting most A's and some B's. In conclusion the main lesson I learned from this experience is that everyone deserves a second chance. I wanted to change my mentality and I wanted to do better at school, therefore I determined myself to make these changes. Even though it did take a lot of work, the results were worth so much more. Throughout my high school years and my future college years I will always maintain school as my top priority and I will always keep in mind that it's not about the mistakes you make, but how you react to Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I have learned to be more responsible, when it comes down to getting work done. In college you must be responsible. I have also changed my attitude. Third of all, you have to change your attitude toward school. You have to want to finish school; you have to think about the money you are spending to go to school. For example you are paying for every class you take and if you fail a class then you are paying for the same class again. College is a major step from high school.
