My Dreams For College
Every kid dreams of college. Then as your go throughout school, family, friends, sports and other things just get in the way of life, college becomes a
just a little worry. As your grow and move up in school, high school hit you in the face. First, you're a freshman, then a sophomore, then a junior, and
then finally a senior. I never truly believed when people would tell me that high school goes by fast, but it does and it did. When I was a freshman
college crossed my mind and then it left. Fast forward to junior year and senior year the thought of college was around the corner. Everything I did to
prepare for college was very last minute. How was I prepared for college? My dream for college slowly faded.
Around the time of my junior year high school my father lost his job, and things when downhill from there. All four of my siblings attended a
private school, Parkview Adventist Academy in Oklahoma, City. Any parent who knows how private school works knows that it costs a lot of money
just for a student to go there. Well imagine four kids attending private school. So money got tight and we were barely meeting every month tuition.
We eventually found a sponsor and that helped us a little. My senior of high school my God a job, and finishing out high school was looking
promising again. But now it was the start of applying and looking for which college college to attend. My two options for college were Southwestern
Adventist University and Oakwood Adventist University. It took

High School vs. College Essay examples
High School vs. College A very important part of life is education. In order to acquire a satisfying education, one should complete high school prior to
college. College and high school have two different levels of education, but both are trying to further student's knowledge. As recent high school
graduates and college freshman's many can clarify similarities and differences between the two. Some obvious similarities are that both have
assignments, classrooms, and students. Although college and high school have many differences three of the main ones are the teachers, classes, and
responsibilities. Teachers and college professors are one main difference. Teachers in high school often write notes on an overhead and tell you the

Classes are the second main reason high school differs from college. Classes in high school generally consist of no more that 25 students.
Counselors usually arrange your schedule the way they think is best for you. You are not responsible for knowing what it takes to graduate. Usually
the school year is 26 weeks long; classes may have to be taken the whole year in order to get credit for them. You are graded on most assignments done
in class. In college some classes may have from 75–100 students. It is your responsibility to enroll in the classes that are required for your major, plus
a week for final exams. The year is divided into two 14 week semesters; most classes need to be taken the complete semester in order to get credit.
College professors tend to grade students on tests and major papers. Responsibility has a lot to do when it comes to high school and college. When
you attend high school you are provided textbooks for each class. Your time is usually structured by others (parents and/or teachers). Many parents
are there to wake you up in the morning before school starts. In high school you are required to go to school everyday. You often read or hear
presentations once in order to learn what you need to know. Students are expected to read short stories at home which will be re–taught in class. When
in college you must pay for each textbook necessary for class.

Tell us why you chose to apply to the University of Central Oklahoma.
I chose the University of Central Oklahoma because not only does it have one of the best Nursing programs, but campus, staff, and the students are
exceptional! Also, the ratio of students to staff is reasonable, and the size of campus the attending students is just perfect. I also love that senior
students and staff members are so eager to help incoming students find the right path and plan to success, and for those who want to get involved, like
myself, there is an endless amount of clubs and student organizations that I could join. Another reason is that the university is located in an area where
a variety of stores are easily accessible– and is a fair distance away...show more content...
My story, what I am interested in, how I go about overcoming obstacles, and how I lead others will add to the educational mix of the UCO
community because each and every student come from a different background and has their own set of ideals. Though we may all have similar goals
in life, how we each get there is different and unique. Being unique, though it may be minor, has a huge impact on your relationships with the people
you encounter. Having different ideas, perspectives, and interests can be used as conversation starters and enables for other individuals to learn from
each, and become more open minded, and open door to conversations that they never thought they would or will have.
Please list, in order of importance to you, any educational, professional, civic, religious, political, athletic or community organizations in which you
have been active. Briefly describe your activities within the organizations.

Non-Traditional Students Essay example
With today's changing world and the economy the way it is, it is not uncommon for people of all ages to enter the college setting. In fact, two–thirds of
students entering the college setting are classified non–traditional (Brown, 2007). Bill (2003) found that there was an 11% increase of non–traditional
student enrollment from 1991–1998 displaying 35% in 91 and 46% in 1998. These numbers have since increased according to Jacobson & Harris
(2008) showing that half to 75% of undergraduates consist of the non–traditional student sitting the reasons for reentering the college setting to be

counselor that the choice that has been made suits his career options. He may need assurance that he correctly using the internet to research
occupations of interest. The traditional student on the other hand may find it beneficial to be a part of peer counseling programs or internships.
Question # 2 Career Counseling can be beneficial to everyone that seeks employment. However, when seeking advice and assistance on something as
important as a career, people should know the credentials of the counselor. Many individuals that pursue career counseling follow a variety of code of
ethics and ethical guidelines according to Brown (2007). With this being said, it is important that career counseling practice should be regulated.
According to Porter, Gildon, & Zgliczynski (2000), people claiming to be counselors is a serious problem in the state of California because no
formal standards are set for appropriate licensure except for that of a marriage counselor. This lack of standards and credentials causes many
problems for those seeking advice and assistance with a particular problem. More importantly, the public is not protected even if they take a case to
court and the "counselor" is found guilty. What is to be taken away? He can continue to practice because he does not have a certificate to begin with.

Personal Growth in College Essay
So far, the college experience has made me a changed person. College changed me into a better person on many occasions. I have learned to be more
responsible, when it comes down to getting work done. In college you must be responsible. I have also changed my attitude. Moving from high
school to college is a big step; if you don't change your ways for the better then you might not be successful in college. When you reach college then is
the time that you become an adult.
First off, the college life has changed me for the better. I am much more responsible in many different ways. I had to change my study habits, or should I
say I have to get study habits. I high school I never studied, because everything came so easy to me and I could just...show more content...
That's just one example, there are many more. Another reason college is a big step is because you're on your own, and you don't have nobody to tell you
what to do, you make your own decisions when it has to deal with getting up early in the morning to go to class, you have your parents or anyone to
wake you up, it's a big step, you just have to stay focus.
Third of all, you have to change your attitude toward school. You have to want to finish school; you have to think about the money you are
spending to go to school. For example you are paying for every class you take and if you fail a class then you are paying for the same class again.
College is a major step from high school. I personally wasn't ready for college, but this being my second year I understand what I have to do to
finish school. I understand more and more why education is a major issue in life, especially a college education. Entering college you have to change
your game plan to get where you want to be in life.
In conclusion, the college experience has made me a changed person. It has made me a changed person for the better. I have learned a lot, I have
learned responsibility. Without responsibility in college you will not make very far. You must get your work done, and be punctual. You must make
the right decisions, don't let peer pressure get to you, try to avoid it. Don't let college change you for the worst, take advantage of

My College Experience Essay examples
My College Experience
Throughout my lifetime I have listened to people reflect back on their college experiences and explain how college is supposed to be "the best
experience of your life." The summer after my senior year I use to try and imagine what my first semester was going to be like based on what I had
heard people talk about in the past. After my first semester at NC State I realized that I couldn't fully understand what college was like until I
experienced it for myself. My first couple of weeks at Ohio State was rough and really tested my strength (mental and physical). I faced challenges
and obstacles that I had never heard about in those past college experience conversations. All of a sudden there was no one to get me out of...show more

I can remember missing 8:05 classes because I stayed out too late the night before. In high school the teacher would constantly remind the students
when certain assignments were due, but this was not the case in college. I learned that the hard way my first semester. Sometimes I forgot to turn in
an assignment because I didn't properly read my syllabus and my professor never mentioned it. These were all new problems that could have easily
let escalate without taking the proper actions. For the most part I was doing fairly well but a few of my grades began to plummet. I was losing the
confidence in myself and started to wonder if going to college had been the best decision. The time had come for me to grow up and become an adult
even I didn't feel the time was right. I immediately began attending tutoring sessions, working with peers and also keeping a daily to–do list. These
factors were the eventually led to drastic improvement and success. After my first semester I learned how better manage my time, take advantage of
campus resources and also how to organize myself better. These struggles also taught me that sometimes I try and rush through things instead of
taking my time. I realized that one of my strong points is being able to really do well when my back is against the wall. Although I was unhappy
while facing obstacles I am happy I experienced them. I believe this experience was the reason for my
