other students on this course than I had on 2 years of that course.”

facing a particular problem”
◦ “I feel like I'm being thought how to program rather than just pass exams
(I have been on many courses where they do that.)”

Quotes
18. Keep/ Continue
Doing
◦ Aim for 100% on every assignment
◦ Work constantly a little bit every day instead of a lot one of 2 days.
You will understand the content better and you will get less tired
◦ Keep up with the lectures and labs. Don't fall too far behind (more
than 1 week).
◦ The can can Misinterpretted
20. Stop Doing
◦ Assignments:
◦ Can specs be a bit clearer for assignments.
◦ Line by line referencing of code for programming assignments was very
tedious especially in the second one, it stopped me from adding to my assignment
just so I wouldn't have to rewrite the referencing
◦ Two large projects due at the same time,
◦ even with the allotted time for completion simultaneous deadlines are a lot of pressure.
◦ Socrative Quizzes:
◦ Although I like them, when a correct answer was not shown I've found it confusing,
so would like to see a full correct answer, even if descriptive and a score cannot be
given.
◦ when there wasn't a live lecture. I found them unhelpful personally when it was
based on a recorded session.
◦ Extending deadlines.
◦ Not giving feedback on assignments within the timeline promised.
◦ Materials
◦ For the last programming module there was no option for omnibus video.
◦ No omnibus editions, it makes it harder to follow the weeks lectures without the
full edition
◦ Just referring to the materials when a different explanation is necessary
◦ Bonus videos
◦ XD Maybe the class videos when they are broken up into shorter videos. It breaks
concentration (flow) when switching to next video or at least give the option to
choose the full version

21. Stop Doing
◦ The log in with git…
◦ thing throws off what I was originally clicking on, sometimes can loose track
of thought process. Say I am working on assignment and trying to find
something in week 7 in web dev, it might be there on browser, but then when
click on it, the sign in with git comes up, then it logs in in at the beginning and
have to navigate back into the item I was clicking on on week 7. I might have
to think where in week 7 I was or even if it was week 7 that I was in the first
place. Only found it annoying in assignments as the browser could be open in
tutors for long periods of time
◦ Having to go between slack and tutors to check you’ve got all
relavent course content, takes time to check through everything

22. Stop Doing
◦ Stop procrastinating
◦ leave all the work for the last minute
◦ Procrastinating. Leaving assignments until a week or two to go.
Starting is the hardest thing.

24. Start
Doing
◦ Assignments
◦ Mini assignment that would take 2 hours or 1 hour at the end of ever week?
◦ Simpler versions of assignment 3 as practice questions (to show us the layout and
format of assignments)
◦ Dedicated Q&A session to clarify questions on assignments specs.
◦ Live Zoom on the project earlier possibly in the 1st week.
◦ Slack
◦ …often assignment related questions that only the lecturers can answer. So perhaps
a quick session once people have had a chance to digest the spec and come up with
their questions.
◦ Mentoring or Group working together
◦ reflective of working environment, it would help reinforce topics.
◦ collaborative assignments
◦ Breakout rooms in Zoom for short group tasks, if Zoom will be introduced as a
lecture delivery method.
◦ Some group exercises might help, but not for marked assignments
◦ Zoom sessions
◦ More
◦ Labs - informal zoom style tutorial for half an hour, the week after they are released

25. Start
Doing
◦ Materials
◦ Ensuring all videos are available in 1080p, the testing video was in 720 and I couldnt
read the code very well.
◦ Can all material be put up in advance?
◦ Check the lab pages for typos and formatting errors
◦ Provide more sources for examples of the more complex code
◦ More examples
◦ (e.g. HashMap simple, intermediate, advanced)
◦ Another variety if Shop V5
◦ Lab videos, maybe with hints and tips in the software program we are using. Maybe
more videos in lab.
◦ Programming approach
◦ How to start the assignments as in a bit of design/UI/UX before we go into an
assignment.
◦ I would also love to see how the tutor would approach each assignment even after the
assignment just to see how they would do it from start to finish
◦ Feedback
◦ More feedback on assignments and what could be done to improve, if not possible at
individual level maybe at higher level like programming assignment 1.
◦ 'stretch' objectives
◦ For the content for each week (could be a separate tab on each lab) so that students can
dive deeper into a topic if they have the time.
2
26. Start
Doing
◦ Spend time on college work each week
◦ Do something everyday, even if it is only 30-45 min
◦ Be more proactive. Interact more on Slack. Try to do some of the extra
exercises in the labs.
