Why People Volunteer Work
Department of Psychology
The Course Leader: HMPYC80
University of South Africa
2013–05–30
Dear Sir/Madam
Re: Research proposal: Why do People Volunteer Work.
I am currently associated with UNISA where I am an honours student in Psychology. I have special interest in why do peoplevolunteer work due to
some volunteer work I am doing with a home called Botshabelo and an organisation called Stop Hunger SA. I have attached a proposal for further
research in this field.
The reasons for approaching you is because I will need funding which I will use to carry out study and for ethical approval for my study.
I hope to hear from you soon.

It's always important to have direction in everything you do and to have a set up framework so we aim to figure out some way of evaluating peoples
ambitions in volunteering so that only the best candidates who want to volunteer for the right reasons can give their best efforts. It is also wise to
give opportunity to people who have something to gain from it like those who are trying to exercise their expertise because they will do their best in
trying to show their skills and they also need reverences to vouch for them in their future careers.
3. Research Questions
There are only 3 research questions for this study/ proposal which are:
–why do people volunteer work?
–what motivates people to give their own time to volunteering without any form of compensation?
–what are their experiences in volunteering and what do they gain from it?
4. Literature review
A study was done by Birnbam (2012), who looked at reasons why young people do volunteer work. Birnbsm states that, for a young person, having
friends that volunteer regularly is the primary factor influencing a young person's volunteering habits. It matters more than things like wanting to help
improve his local community or working on an issue he cares about deeply," the report stated. "In fact, for

Research Proposal On Global Warming
Research Proposal The Climate changing, this has been a well–known issue. Air Pollution is killing the environment, creating damage that cannot be
reversed. Our social media will attempt to tell you different and make it out to be not as bad or serious as it really is. My research proposal will
explain what the effects we have on our beautiful little planet in a global scale, and I will point out how the internet can try and argue the facts to make
global warming a hoax. I will layout the facts and statistics about the subject matter, then explain why their argumentation is false. A good quote
for the article to start it off is one from Hawkins, "How did global warming discussions end up hinging on what's happening with polar bears,
unverifiable predictions of what will happen in a hundred years and whether people are 'climate deniers' or 'global warming cultists?' wouldn't this
be considered a scientific topic? We should be spending more time discussing the science involved?" (Hawkins). I believe that nature in part along
with humans are causing damage to the environment. Our planet is moving closer to the sun; we know that but that alone would not be the cause of
the planets warming as fast as it is. I also believe that social media is not telling it how it really is by not using the facts and evidence. I will then
bring forth the prevalence of the ice age and talk about facts disproving global warming (which is the theory that the world is slowly rising in

Cyber-Bullying: A Brief Research Proposal Essay
Introduction Internet usage in children and adolescents has been increasing in a steadily fashion in the past number of years and with the increase in
internet usage, a new form of bullying has developed – Cyber bullying. Cyber bullying can be defined as "the electronic posting of mean–spirited
messages about a person," (Merriam–Webster, 2012). This form of bullying can come through various mediums including but not limited to text
messages, emails, videos, and social networking sites. There is an overwhelming amount of information that defines cyber bullying, identifies the
demographics of bullies and victims of cyber bullying, and identifies the outcomes of cyber bullying on victims. More focus needs to be placed on
who the perpetrators...show more content...
Additionally, a large amount of cyber bullying tends to take place within social groups. Perpetrators of need not be the traditional strong, powerful
bully but could be the individual who is too shy to intimidate others in the traditional sense so they turn to the cyber world where they may remain
somewhat anonymous (Juvonen & Gross, 2008; Mishna, Cook, Gadalla, Daciuk, & Solomon, 2010; Mishna, Saini, & Solomon, 2009). One study
showed that over half of the perpetrators of cyber bullying are friends of the victim, and a further amount of perpetrations know the victim (Kowalski
& Fedina, 2011). It has been demonstrated in a number of studies that the more time an individual spends on the computer and internet, the more likely
they are to be cyber bully victims, perpetrators or both the victim and bully (Mishna, Khourg–Kassabri, Gadalla, & Daciuk, 2012; Sengupta &
Chaudhuri, 2011). The most common mediums of cyber bullying are through email, instant messages, or internet social networking sites; however,
the medium with the greatest impact on its victims is picture or video bullying (Beran & Li, 2005; Kowalski & Fedina, 2011; Slonje & Smoth,
2008). It has been suggested in the past that children who have access to social networking sites are more likely to be perpetrators or victims of cyber
bullying, however, results from one study indicates this is not the case. Alternatively, it was suggested

Essay about Research Proposal on Abortion
Research Project Proposal Topic: Abortion Psychology 101 Jasmine Payne Summary of Background Research Abortion is a controversial topic that has
plagued the country for decades. Even after the 7–2 Supreme Court trial (Roe vs. Wade) made it legal for women to choose to get abortions. This
decision was based off the right of privacy coupled with the agreement between the woman and the state. Due to this decision abortion rights vary from
state to state, in fact, about 85% of United States counties do not provide abortion services. Even though, abortion is ten times safer than the actual
process of giving birth and 68,000 women died from resorting to "back–alley abortions." Knowing all this, there are still two main groups arguing

They scream at Congress to legalize abortion in all states. The thousands of women that die from back alley abortions and suicide because they have
no access to abortion clinics are unnecessary deaths. They also provide hard facts and statistics showing the legalization of abortion lowers crime
rates, is safer than natural pregnancy, and has little to no side effects (physiological or psychological) on the woman undergoing the procedure. They
want to make sure every woman has the choice, whether it is to remain abstinent, legally abort, or keep her child. Rape and incest are strong focal
points of the pro–life mission statement. No woman should be forced to go through 9 months of pregnancy if it is not her choice to do so. Both of
these groups come down to individual interests and views. Pro–life is the conservative belief that the government has the absolute decision to preserve
all human life, regardless of the circumstances. While pro–choice is the liberal view that it is the individual woman's choice on whether or not to abort
the unborn fetus. The main point of conflict is whether the unborn fetus is truly a human being and ultimately who has the choice to terminate its life.
The United States government is also having trouble choosing a side of the argument; they have to be careful with the separation of church and state. It
is unlikely there will

MBA TAKE HOME ESSAY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ON RESEARCH METHODS 1. Identify the most appropriate study design for the
research proposal you are Planning to develop. A study design is the procedure that guides a researcher on how to collect, analyze and interpret
observations. It is a logical model that guides the investigator while he navigates through the various stages of the research. Study types can be
classified severally depending on the research strategy employed. A study type can be non–interventional that is 'observational' where a researcher just
observes and analyses researchable objects or situations without intervening. Non–interventional study designs can be exploratory, descriptive or
comparative. A study can also be...show more content...
Having already identified the non–intervention study type as the most appropriate study type for my research proposal, I will also employ the use of a
descriptive study design to explore the current patterns of policies and strategies concerning employee empowerment in Merchant Bank Ghana Limited.
2. Describe the various data collection techniques and state their uses and limitations. Data Collection is a vital aspect of any type of research study.
Erroneous data collection can impact the results of a study and ultimately lead to invalid results. Data collection methods for impact evaluation vary
along a scale. At the one end of this scale are quantitative methods and at the other end of the scale are Qualitative methods for data collection.
Choosing a particular data collection method will depend on the accuracy of information they will yield and the practical considerations, such as, the
need for personnel, time, equipment and other facilities, in relation to what is available Quantitative Collection Methods Quantitative data collection
involves the use of numbers to assess information. This information can then be evaluated using statistical analysis which offers researchers the
opportunity to dig deeper into the data and look for greater meaning. The Quantitative data collection methods rely on random sampling and structured
data collection instruments that fit varied experiences

Proposal On Gender Inequality
Research Proposal
Anna Ford

SOC 210 Section 4102
Section 1
Gender Inequality has been a problem for centuries, and is still a huge problem today, which is why I am choosing to write about it. The basic
definition for gender inequality is simple. The textbook says that gender inequality "takes the form of patriarchy, or male dominance" (Ferris, Stein,
pg 246). This form of gender inequality can be explained by taking a look at some of the earliest societies. Hunting and weapon making were
needed for survival. Men were expected to do that job, because women didn't have the same physical stature as men did. What the women were
expected to do was cooking the food the men brought back home, cleaning, and bearing/taking care of the children. Patriarchy doesn't just affect
women, it affects everyone. For example, since women are seen as the emotional ones, and the ones that need to be taken care of and need protection,
if a guy gets emotional, he is told to "man up", and "quit acting like a baby". Society thinks that it is wrong for men to show emotions and cry. The
negative effects of patriarchy on women also negatively effects the men just as much.
The past societies saw men being the protectors and women being the stay at home and nurturing figures. The textbook tells us that here are two roles
in a family setting. One of those roles is the instrumental role. The instrumental role is "the position of the family member who provides the family's

What is the Impact of Stress on University Students Academic Performance?
1. EXPLANATION OF RESEARCH TOPIC
1.1 Purposes of Research Topic
Newth (2011) claims that modern day stress seems to be more widespread than ever causing interference with human intellect, emotional and
interpersonal functioning. Therefore; I suggest that students will encounter stress and it will impact their academic performance. In this fast pace and
performance driven society each organization needs well performing people. The only way we will know what people require to become productive
and less stressed is to explore topics as my research question. The topic...show more content...
Which collects the health statistics of students from universities all around the world every second year, reported that 40.2 percent of Santa Clara
University students identified that stress affected their individual academic performance during the last 12 months of their studies (Temple,2011).
Temple (2011) reported a survey conducted in 2004 that assessed the overall well–being of 47,202 undergraduates nationwide. The findings were that
32.4 percent of students recognized stress as the main obstacle to their academic performance. This was said to be above the common cold,
depression, death of a relative, sexual assault and eating disorders. Stress is "once considered as the nation's number one health epidemic; prolonged
stress can lead to ulcers, heart disease, stroke, major depression and to a shorter life span" (Temple, 2011).
Based on these findings from research done previously I feel that this study is important. Firstly, we need to understand what causes the stressors and
how it affects the individual. For example, if you have an entire university with stressed students, not being productive, not performing well
academically perhaps thinking of dropping out of university because of the overwhelming anxiety; it can be detrimental to the institution in terms of
status and students in terms of individual realisation. Secondly, we soon have to formulate effective and efficient stress management guidelines as we

Crime Research Proposal
RESEARCH PROPOSAL EXAMPLE 4. THIS PERSON RECEIVED A "9.8" INTRODUCTION Micheal Gottfredson and Travis Hirschi's general
theory of crime purports to be able to predict all crime at all time and that a person's level of self–control is determined and unchangeable by age eight.
This researcher saw this theory as an awfully broad statement and an extremely pessimistic view of human nature. By this logic, a person with a low
score on the selfcontrol construct would be almost guaranteed to commit crime given the appropriate opportunity and little can be done to change that
behavior. This researcher proposes that self–control can be learned and bolstered later in life through extensive behavior modification programs that
work to curb the...show more content...
Self–control theory enthusiasts claim that the characteristics of those with self–restraint are not well–matched with the elements that characterize
criminal and deviants acts (Gibbs et al 1998), consequently this researcher hypothesizes that increasing self–control and restraint through behavior
modification will make criminal sexual opportunity less appealing and therefore decrease recidivism.
Dr. Lane, Research Proposal Ex 4, Spring 2001, page 2
LITERATURE REVIEW The general theory of crime is relatively new and controversial theory in the realm ofcriminology. Micheal Gottfredson and
Travis Hirschi published A General Theory of Crime in 1990 and it went on to become the second most cited book in the entire 1990s (Pratt and
Cullen, 2000). Their theory is based on the argument, not unlike Hirschi's social bonding theory that criminal activity is gratifying and the key to
understanding participation in crime is discovering what prevents people from breaking the law. They contend that committing crime and other
analogous behaviors (drinking, gambling, drug use, reckless driving, and unsafe sexual practices) start manifesting in conduct problems early in life.
The term "low self–control" is used to describe the enduring "criminality" or "criminal propensity" that increases the likelihood that individuals will be
unable to resist the easy, immediate

Mental Health Proposal
What health issue is being addressed by this expo?
Mental health has always been identified as one of the main areas for action in the National Health Priority Areas (National Health and Medical
Research Council 2016), and depression is one of the most prevalent chronic conditions amongst the young Australians (Australian Institute of Health
and Welfare 2017). Depression is a debilitating condition that substantially impairs individuals' ability to function and cope with their daily life due
to the experience of negative feelings (NHMRC 2016). Also, depression and suicidality have a close correlation as eighty percent of reported suicide
incident was due to the burden of depression (World Health Organization 2017), and suicide is the second leading cause of death in youths in Australia
(Reddy 2010). Moreover, depression can be inherited in a family through either biological or psychological way (Rahman et al. 2008); hence, youths
who have the family with depression history tend to be more vulnerable and have a higher chance to get depression comparing with children from
healthy family (Rice 2010). Therefore, this expo is set up for raising community awareness in the burden of depression and reducing the growth of
emotional and developmental dysfunction in youths and their families through providing a comprehensive research study in related the health problem
and proven intervention strategies.

A Research Proposal On Big Data
Research Proposal The research proposal can be developed from the topic of big data to match up the demands of enormous data flow in the
dynamic world. Data visualization tools at significant cost can help up in analytics of big data and can form an innovative research proposal for
analysis and extensive research. The real time data and the use of techniques of big data in this domain can form an excellent topic of research
calling for formulating methodologies and strategies to tap the untapped potential of this field and to experiment more in the field of research.
Since, real time processing acts as a game changer in big data the research developed would be to have an insight into real time analytics and
streaming data to analyze the flow and to evaluate it using certain tools and techniques. This is one of the greatest challenge that is acting as a key
barrier in widespread adoption and pervasive use of the tools fostering for development and progress in this field of study. The real time of the big
data analytics would require some of the unique features and special computing powers and potentials (Gantz, 2012). Tools have to made specially
advanced so as to incorporate process terms in real time (Chen, 2012). Every business oriented organization should be transformed into information
centric (Kaisler, 2013) to focus upon the real time data analysis in terms of both input and output. However, there are some of the risks associated with

Research Proposal On Student Suicide
Produce a Professional Proposal
In 1997, after receiving a phone call I was made aware that my cousin shot and killed himself. In 2013, I learned that a former student at the age of
18 years old was found unresponsive in his dorm room after committing suicide. These two tragedies happened over a decade apart, but both affected
me in similar ways. As an educator, it became my responsibility to fix the problem ofsuicide, that is attacking so many of our students today. The
purpose of this assignment is to develop and explain a professional proposal for a student suicide prevention program.
Proposal Audience This student suicide prevention program proposal is intended to be viewed by the school administration. High school administration
team would consist of Principal, Assistant Principals and Counselors and college administration team would consist of President, Vice Presidents and
/or Deans.
Defining the Problem The problem that will be addressed in this proposal is the growing number of student suicide cases and the thoughts of
committing suicide by students. Suicide is the second leading cause of deaths among people age 15–24 (Garraza et al. 2015). That statistic makes it
imperative for all educators to develop a solution to this epidemic.
A Proposed Solution to the Problem The solution to the proposed problem is the developing and implementing of a school–wide student suicide
prevention program that is led by the administration and staff. A suicide prevention program in

Do you know the similarities and differences between a funding proposal and a research proposal? According to the website learnerassociates.net
/proposal, writing a funding proposal was created to help empower people to be successful in gaining funds for projects that provide worthwhile social
service. Aresearch proposal considers your overall topic ideas, your research question, your research process, and your sources and scaffolds what the
next steps will be for the project. There are similarities and differences between writing a funding proposal and a research proposal.
A research proposal is most often written by scholars seeking grant funding for a research project or it's the first step in getting approval to write a
doctoral dissertation. Even if this is just a course assignment, the introduction is the initial pitch of an idea or a thorough examination of the
significance of a research problem. After reading the introduction, readers should not only understand what is being proposed. Most proposals do not
include an abstract before the introduction. Background and Significance, this section can be melded into your introduction or you can create a
separate section to help with the organization and narrative flow of your proposal. This is where you explain the context of your proposal and describe
in detail why it's important. Approach writing this section with the thought that you can't assume your readers will know as much about the research
problem as you do. Note

Part 1: The Differences between Formal Research and a Business Proposal Formal research and business proposals may focus on researching the
same problems and seek similar information, but they have different "overall goals, sections, purposes and uses" (Jane, 2011). Understanding the
differences between the two can help a person be more effective in writing either a formal research proposal or a business proposal. For a research
proposal, the goals tend to focus on "finding specific information or data that can help the business make better decisions, whether it is for the
budget, market or customers" (Jane, 2011). The research proposal has different sections than a normal business proposal. The research proposal
normally begins with an abstract and is in APA format (PRISM, Unk.). Moreover, the ideas in a research proposal tend to be based on other research
and draws its information from other scholarly literature, preferably studies that have been subject o peer review(PRISM, Unk.). It has an
introduction and a conclusion. The problem in a research project is carefully famed, "as a potential contribution to scholarly research" (PRISM, Unk.).
Furthermore, the research question is going to be stated in a way that is conducive to research and allows for the easy identification of the independent
and dependent variables (PRISM, Unk.). It also generally has a methods section, which is not usually part of a business proposal. The methods section
will be qualitative,

Research Proposal : Gender Equality
Research Proposal: Gender Equality in America
For my research project, I would like to show the evolution of gender equality that has occurred in American society in the workplace. The disparity
of status and privileges between men and women has existed since the end of the World War II. Although America has made progress concerning the
acceptance of social issues such as same sex relationship and marriage, people are still unwilling to acknowledge that gender inequality is still rampant
among our society. Gender equality hasn't been achieved yet, particularly in corporate America that has an insignificant number of women in the
upper ranks; fewer women occupy a post of chief executive officer, chief financial officer, or any other leading positions. For my research question
I will be asking: "How is America making progress on gender equity?" Fundamentally, I believe that women are still misrepresented, and are still
facing many challenges in the workplace, especially in the business world. The gender stereotypes play a considerable role in the way the society sees
women as leaders. However, it will be judicious to consider the small but noticeable changes that have been made over the past years concerning
gender equality in the American workplace.
The research on the evolution of gender equality is related to my success, because as a women business major, it is my responsibility to be aware of
the issues women face in the business world, dominated by men.
My purpose

Why People Volunteer Work

  • 1. Why People Volunteer Work Department of Psychology The Course Leader: HMPYC80 University of South Africa 2013–05–30 Dear Sir/Madam Re: Research proposal: Why do People Volunteer Work. I am currently associated with UNISA where I am an honours student in Psychology. I have special interest in why do peoplevolunteer work due to some volunteer work I am doing with a home called Botshabelo and an organisation called Stop Hunger SA. I have attached a proposal for further research in this field. The reasons for approaching you is because I will need funding which I will use to carry out study and for ethical approval for my study. I hope to hear from you soon. It is also wise to give opportunity to people who have something to gain from it like those who are trying to exercise their expertise because they will do their best in trying to show their skills and they also need reverences to vouch for them in their future careers. 3. Research Questions There are only 3 research questions for this study/ proposal which are: –why do people volunteer work? –what motivates people to give their own time to volunteering without any form of compensation? –what are their experiences in volunteering and what do they gain from it? 4. Literature review A study was done by Birnbam (2012), who looked at reasons why young people do volunteer work. Birnbsm states that, for a young person, having friends that volunteer regularly is the primary factor influencing a young person's volunteering habits. It matters more than things like wanting to help improve his local community or working on an issue he cares about deeply," the report stated. "In fact, for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Research Proposal On Global Warming Research Proposal The Climate changing, this has been a well–known issue. Air Pollution is killing the environment, creating damage that cannot be reversed. Our social media will attempt to tell you different and make it out to be not as bad or serious as it really is. My research proposal will explain what the effects we have on our beautiful little planet in a global scale, and I will point out how the internet can try and argue the facts to make global warming a hoax. I will layout the facts and statistics about the subject matter, then explain why their argumentation is false. A good quote for the article to start it off is one from Hawkins, "How did global warming discussions end up hinging on what's happening with polar bears, unverifiable predictions of what will happen in a hundred years and whether people are 'climate deniers' or 'global warming cultists?' wouldn't this be considered a scientific topic? We should be spending more time discussing the science involved?" (Hawkins). I believe that nature in part along with humans are causing damage to the environment. Our planet is moving closer to the sun; we know that but that alone would not be the cause of the planets warming as fast as it is. I also believe that social media is not telling it how it really is by not using the facts and evidence. I will then bring forth the prevalence of the ice age and talk about facts disproving global warming (which is the theory that the world is slowly rising in temperature Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Cyber-Bullying: A Brief Research Proposal Essay Introduction Internet usage in children and adolescents has been increasing in a steadily fashion in the past number of years and with the increase in internet usage, a new form of bullying has developed – Cyber bullying. Cyber bullying can be defined as "the electronic posting of mean–spirited messages about a person," (Merriam–Webster, 2012). This form of bullying can come through various mediums including but not limited to text messages, emails, videos, and social networking sites. There is an overwhelming amount of information that defines cyber bullying, identifies the demographics of bullies and victims of cyber bullying, and identifies the outcomes of cyber bullying on victims. More focus needs to be placed on who the perpetrators...show more content... Additionally, a large amount of cyber bullying tends to take place within social groups. Perpetrators of need not be the traditional strong, powerful bully but could be the individual who is too shy to intimidate others in the traditional sense so they turn to the cyber world where they may remain somewhat anonymous (Juvonen & Gross, 2008; Mishna, Cook, Gadalla, Daciuk, & Solomon, 2010; Mishna, Saini, & Solomon, 2009). One study showed that over half of the perpetrators of cyber bullying are friends of the victim, and a further amount of perpetrations know the victim (Kowalski & Fedina, 2011). It has been demonstrated in a number of studies that the more time an individual spends on the computer and internet, the more likely they are to be cyber bully victims, perpetrators or both the victim and bully (Mishna, Khourg–Kassabri, Gadalla, & Daciuk, 2012; Sengupta & Chaudhuri, 2011). The most common mediums of cyber bullying are through email, instant messages, or internet social networking sites; however, the medium with the greatest impact on its victims is picture or video bullying (Beran & Li, 2005; Kowalski & Fedina, 2011; Slonje & Smoth, 2008). It has been suggested in the past that children who have access to social networking sites are more likely to be perpetrators or victims of cyber bullying, however, results from one study indicates this is not the case. • 5. Essay about Research Proposal on Abortion Research Project Proposal Topic: Abortion Psychology 101 Jasmine Payne Summary of Background Research Abortion is a controversial topic that has plagued the country for decades. Even after the 7–2 Supreme Court trial (Roe vs. Wade) made it legal for women to choose to get abortions. This decision was based off the right of privacy coupled with the agreement between the woman and the state. Due to this decision abortion rights vary from state to state, in fact, about 85% of United States counties do not provide abortion services. Even though, abortion is ten times safer than the actual process of giving birth and 68,000 women died from resorting to "back–alley abortions." Knowing all this, there are still two main groups arguing ...show more content... They scream at Congress to legalize abortion in all states. The thousands of women that die from back alley abortions and suicide because they have no access to abortion clinics are unnecessary deaths. They also provide hard facts and statistics showing the legalization of abortion lowers crime rates, is safer than natural pregnancy, and has little to no side effects (physiological or psychological) on the woman undergoing the procedure. They want to make sure every woman has the choice, whether it is to remain abstinent, legally abort, or keep her child. Rape and incest are strong focal points of the pro–life mission statement. No woman should be forced to go through 9 months of pregnancy if it is not her choice to do so. Both of these groups come down to individual interests and views. Pro–life is the conservative belief that the government has the absolute decision to preserve all human life, regardless of the circumstances. While pro–choice is the liberal view that it is the individual woman's choice on whether or not to abort the unborn fetus. The main point of conflict is whether the unborn fetus is truly a human being and ultimately who has the choice to terminate its life. The United States government is also having trouble choosing a side of the argument; they have to be careful with the separation of church and state. It is unlikely there will Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Mba MBA TAKE HOME ESSAY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ON RESEARCH METHODS 1. Identify the most appropriate study design for the research proposal you are Planning to develop. A study design is the procedure that guides a researcher on how to collect, analyze and interpret observations. It is a logical model that guides the investigator while he navigates through the various stages of the research. Study types can be classified severally depending on the research strategy employed. A study type can be non–interventional that is 'observational' where a researcher just observes and analyses researchable objects or situations without intervening. Non–interventional study designs can be exploratory, descriptive or comparative. A study can also be...show more content... Having already identified the non–intervention study type as the most appropriate study type for my research proposal, I will also employ the use of a descriptive study design to explore the current patterns of policies and strategies concerning employee empowerment in Merchant Bank Ghana Limited. 2. Describe the various data collection techniques and state their uses and limitations. Data Collection is a vital aspect of any type of research study. Erroneous data collection can impact the results of a study and ultimately lead to invalid results. Data collection methods for impact evaluation vary along a scale. At the one end of this scale are quantitative methods and at the other end of the scale are Qualitative methods for data collection. Choosing a particular data collection method will depend on the accuracy of information they will yield and the practical considerations, such as, the need for personnel, time, equipment and other facilities, in relation to what is available Quantitative Collection Methods Quantitative data collection involves the use of numbers to assess information. This information can then be evaluated using statistical analysis which offers researchers the opportunity to dig deeper into the data and look for greater meaning. The Quantitative data collection methods rely on random sampling and structured data collection instruments that fit varied experiences Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Proposal On Gender Inequality Research Proposal Anna Ford 10/4/2017 SOC 210 Section 4102 Section 1 Gender Inequality has been a problem for centuries, and is still a huge problem today, which is why I am choosing to write about it. The basic definition for gender inequality is simple. The textbook says that gender inequality "takes the form of patriarchy, or male dominance" (Ferris, Stein, pg 246). This form of gender inequality can be explained by taking a look at some of the earliest societies. Hunting and weapon making were needed for survival. Men were expected to do that job, because women didn't have the same physical stature as men did. What the women were expected to do was cooking the food the men brought back home, cleaning, and bearing/taking care of the children. Patriarchy doesn't just affect women, it affects everyone. For example, since women are seen as the emotional ones, and the ones that need to be taken care of and need protection, if a guy gets emotional, he is told to "man up", and "quit acting like a baby". Society thinks that it is wrong for men to show emotions and cry. The negative effects of patriarchy on women also negatively effects the men just as much. The past societies saw men being the protectors and women being the stay at home and nurturing figures. The textbook tells us that here are two roles in a family setting. One of those roles is the instrumental role. The instrumental role is "the position of the family member who provides the family's Material support and is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Nicole Kada Philip Broster Business Communications 27 April 2012 Research Proposal What is the Impact of Stress on University Students Academic Performance? 1. EXPLANATION OF RESEARCH TOPIC 1.1 Purposes of Research Topic Newth (2011) claims that modern day stress seems to be more widespread than ever causing interference with human intellect, emotional and interpersonal functioning. Therefore; I suggest that students will encounter stress and it will impact their academic performance. In this fast pace and performance driven society each organization needs well performing people. The only way we will know what people require to become productive and less stressed is to explore topics as my research question. The topic...show more content... Which collects the health statistics of students from universities all around the world every second year, reported that 40.2 percent of Santa Clara University students identified that stress affected their individual academic performance during the last 12 months of their studies (Temple,2011). Temple (2011) reported a survey conducted in 2004 that assessed the overall well–being of 47,202 undergraduates nationwide. The findings were that 32.4 percent of students recognized stress as the main obstacle to their academic performance. This was said to be above the common cold, depression, death of a relative, sexual assault and eating disorders. Stress is "once considered as the nation's number one health epidemic; prolonged stress can lead to ulcers, heart disease, stroke, major depression and to a shorter life span" (Temple, 2011). Based on these findings from research done previously I feel that this study is important. Firstly, we need to understand what causes the stressors and how it affects the individual. For example, if you have an entire university with stressed students, not being productive, not performing well academically perhaps thinking of dropping out of university because of the overwhelming anxiety; it can be detrimental to the institution in terms of status and students in terms of individual realisation. Secondly, we soon have to formulate effective and efficient stress management guidelines as we

THIS PERSON RECEIVED A "9.8" INTRODUCTION Micheal Gottfredson and Travis Hirschi's general theory of crime purports to be able to predict all crime at all time and that a person's level of self–control is determined and unchangeable by age eight. This researcher saw this theory as an awfully broad statement and an extremely pessimistic view of human nature. By this logic, a person with a low score on the selfcontrol construct would be almost guaranteed to commit crime given the appropriate opportunity and little can be done to change that behavior. This researcher proposes that self–control can be learned and bolstered later in life through extensive behavior modification programs that work to curb the...show more content... Self–control theory enthusiasts claim that the characteristics of those with self–restraint are not well–matched with the elements that characterize criminal and deviants acts (Gibbs et al 1998), consequently this researcher hypothesizes that increasing self–control and restraint through behavior modification will make criminal sexual opportunity less appealing and therefore decrease recidivism. Dr. Lane, Research Proposal Ex 4, Spring 2001, page 2 LITERATURE REVIEW The general theory of crime is relatively new and controversial theory in the realm ofcriminology. Micheal Gottfredson and Travis Hirschi published A General Theory of Crime in 1990 and it went on to become the second most cited book in the entire 1990s (Pratt and Cullen, 2000). Their theory is based on the argument, not unlike Hirschi's social bonding theory that criminal activity is gratifying and the key to understanding participation in crime is discovering what prevents people from breaking the law. They contend that committing crime and other analogous behaviors (drinking, gambling, drug use, reckless driving, and unsafe sexual practices) start manifesting in conduct problems early in life. The term "low self–control" is used to describe the enduring "criminality" or "criminal propensity" that increases the likelihood that individuals will be unable to resist the easy, immediate Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 15. Mental Health Proposal What health issue is being addressed by this expo? Mental health has always been identified as one of the main areas for action in the National Health Priority Areas (National Health and Medical Research Council 2016), and depression is one of the most prevalent chronic conditions amongst the young Australians (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 2017). Depression is a debilitating condition that substantially impairs individuals' ability to function and cope with their daily life due to the experience of negative feelings (NHMRC 2016). Also, depression and suicidality have a close correlation as eighty percent of reported suicide incident was due to the burden of depression (World Health Organization 2017), and suicide is the second leading cause of death in youths in Australia (Reddy 2010). Moreover, depression can be inherited in a family through either biological or psychological way (Rahman et al. 2008); hence, youths who have the family with depression history tend to be more vulnerable and have a higher chance to get depression comparing with children from healthy family (Rice 2010). Therefore, this expo is set up for raising community awareness in the burden of depression and reducing the growth of emotional and developmental dysfunction in youths and their families through providing a comprehensive research study in related the health problem and proven intervention strategies. In 2013, I learned that a former student at the age of 18 years old was found unresponsive in his dorm room after committing suicide. These two tragedies happened over a decade apart, but both affected me in similar ways. As an educator, it became my responsibility to fix the problem ofsuicide, that is attacking so many of our students today. The purpose of this assignment is to develop and explain a professional proposal for a student suicide prevention program. • 20. Research Proposal Research Proposal: It addresses a particular project: academic or scientific research. It also contains extensive literature reviews and must offer convincing support of need for the research study being proposed. Doctoral dissertations begin with research proposal; the proposal must be accepted by a panel of experts (usually professors) before the actual research can begin. In addition to providing rationale for the proposed research, the proposal must describe a detailed methodology for conducting the research––a methodology consistent with requirements of the professional or academic field. Other than that, it is a document written by a researcher that provides a detailed description of the proposed program. It is like an outline...show more content... All research is part of a larger scholarly enterprise and candidates shouldbe able to argue for the value and positioning of their work. CHAPTER II * Research Design: Describe the overall research design by building upon and drawing examples from your review of the literature. Be specific about the methodological approaches you plan to undertake to collect information, about the techniques you will use to analyze it, and about tests of external validity to which you commit yourself [i.e., the trustworthiness by which you can generalize from your study to other people, places or times]. * Locate and Population: This might include the field site description, a description of the instruments you will use, and particularly the data that you anticipate collecting. You may need to comment on site and resource accessibility in the time frame and budget that you have available, to demonstrate feasibility, but the emphasis in this section should be to fully describe specifically what data you will be using in your study. Part of the purpose of doing this is to detect flaws in the plan before they become problems in the research. * Data Gathering Procedure: This section must be well–written and logically organized because you are not actually Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 22. Do you know the similarities and differences between a funding proposal and a research proposal? According to the website learnerassociates.net /proposal, writing a funding proposal was created to help empower people to be successful in gaining funds for projects that provide worthwhile social service. Aresearch proposal considers your overall topic ideas, your research question, your research process, and your sources and scaffolds what the next steps will be for the project. There are similarities and differences between writing a funding proposal and a research proposal. A research proposal is most often written by scholars seeking grant funding for a research project or it's the first step in getting approval to write a doctoral dissertation. Even if this is just a course assignment, the introduction is the initial pitch of an idea or a thorough examination of the significance of a research problem. After reading the introduction, readers should not only understand what is being proposed. Most proposals do not include an abstract before the introduction. Background and Significance, this section can be melded into your introduction or you can create a separate section to help with the organization and narrative flow of your proposal. This is where you explain the context of your proposal and describe in detail why it's important. Approach writing this section with the thought that you can't assume your readers will know as much about the research problem as you do. Note Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 23. Part 1: The Differences between Formal Research and a Business Proposal Formal research and business proposals may focus on researching the same problems and seek similar information, but they have different "overall goals, sections, purposes and uses" (Jane, 2011). Understanding the differences between the two can help a person be more effective in writing either a formal research proposal or a business proposal. For a research proposal, the goals tend to focus on "finding specific information or data that can help the business make better decisions, whether it is for the budget, market or customers" (Jane, 2011). The research proposal has different sections than a normal business proposal. The research proposal normally begins with an abstract and is in APA format (PRISM, Unk.). Moreover, the ideas in a research proposal tend to be based on other research and draws its information from other scholarly literature, preferably studies that have been subject o peer review(PRISM, Unk.). It has an introduction and a conclusion. The problem in a research project is carefully famed, "as a potential contribution to scholarly research" (PRISM, Unk.). Furthermore, the research question is going to be stated in a way that is conducive to research and allows for the easy identification of the independent and dependent variables (PRISM, Unk.). It also generally has a methods section, which is not usually part of a business proposal. The methods section will be qualitative, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 24. Research Proposal : Gender Equality Research Proposal: Gender Equality in America For my research project, I would like to show the evolution of gender equality that has occurred in American society in the workplace. The disparity of status and privileges between men and women has existed since the end of the World War II. Although America has made progress concerning the acceptance of social issues such as same sex relationship and marriage, people are still unwilling to acknowledge that gender inequality is still rampant among our society. Gender equality hasn't been achieved yet, particularly in corporate America that has an insignificant number of women in the upper ranks; fewer women occupy a post of chief executive officer, chief financial officer, or any other leading positions. For my research question I will be asking: "How is America making progress on gender equity?" Fundamentally, I believe that women are still misrepresented, and are still facing many challenges in the workplace, especially in the business world. The gender stereotypes play a considerable role in the way the society sees women as leaders. However, it will be judicious to consider the small but noticeable changes that have been made over the past years concerning gender equality in the American workplace. The research on the evolution of gender equality is related to my success, because as a women business major, it is my responsibility to be aware of the issues women face in the business world, dominated by men.
