Employed as Production Engineering Manager, responsible for the implementation of
systematic procedures for documenting and tracking manufacturing operations, instructing
and supervising assembly, procurement and the work of suppliers, ordering and tracking of
machine parts and spares. Mechanical and electrical assembly and testing of reactors.
Sourcing new suppliers for parts, streamlining the number of suppliers reducing the cost of
components and company overheads.
Customer support for installation, commissioning, maintenance and trials, tracking and
recording equipment faults. Writing of operating manuals and assembly procedures.
Management of individual projects to ensure delivery on time and to specification.
Integration with design team advising on best practice and manufacturing methods,
specification and procurement of peripheral items, such as pressure vessels, pumps, valves
pipework and fittings.
Providing support for marketing, administration and accounts, including checking and
approval of invoices, allocation of project codes. Co-ordinating equipment and logistics
provision for customers and exhibitions.
Due to the size of the company and the limited experience of the employees, I took on a
number of roles not in my job description that would normally have been the responsibility of
a single individual, these included;
Facilities Management – Organising, recording and monitoring of utilities and factory
maintenance, co-ordination with suppliers and contractors. Arranging servicing and
calibration of equipment, Pat testing, monitoring fire and security arrangements.
Quality Manager – I wrote, implemented and administered the Quality Management System
and achieved accreditation to ISO9001 in 2014.
H&S Manager – writing, implementing and administering the H&S Management System in
line with OHAS standard 18001, ensuring site risk and COSHH assessments where carried
out and safe systems of work introduced. Providing staff with H&S information and
performing regular toolbox talks.
Environmental Manager – introducing an EMS, monitoring environmental aspects on site,
recording and monitoring of hazardous waste and emissions. Performing workplace
inspections, identifying potential problems and areas where money could be saved.
2. 2010 to Apr 2013 Starkstrom
Employed as Service Sales and Technical Support Engineer, tasked with increasing the
service turnover on ppm contracts whilst maintaining current business at a high standard.
Expanding into areas not yet tapped by Starkstrom, through my experience of IPS/UPS
systems and Medical devices.
- Developing further relationships with hospital engineers and FM companies to offer quality
and reliability through the service team.
- Continuing my work with architects and consulting engineers supporting the sales team in
designing systems for the critical care areas of the hospital.
- Attending site meetings with NHS staff and project engineers, demonstrating systems,
explaining construction methods and installation techniques.

2008 to Nov 2010 Brandon Medical
Employed as Service and Installation Manager, tasked with increasing the service turnover
on ppm contracts whilst maintaining current business at a high standard. Expanding into
areas not yet tapped by Brandon Medical, through my experience of IPS/UPS systems.
- Developing further relationships with hospital engineers and FM companies to offer quality
and reliability through the service team. Continuing my work with architects and consulting
engineers supporting the sales team in designing systems for the critical care areas of the
hospital
- Involved in numerous PFI projects throughout the UK, responsible for scheduling labour and
materials for installation within construction sites and hospital environments. Ensuring
works are carried out to program and cost, supervising sub-contract labour, commissioning
and test engineers.
- Attending site meetings with NHS staff and project engineers, demonstrating systems,
explaining construction methods and installation techniques. Co-ordination meetings with
other service providers i.e. Medical gases, electrics, data and nurse call.
2003 to July 2008 Jemini Services (UK) Ltd (Director)
Set up Jemini Services as a sales and marketing company for medical equipment working
with major manufacturers in the fields of electrical power supplies, medical gas pipeline
systems, operating and examination lights and ceiling pendants for operating rooms,
Intensive care areas and general wards.
- Developing relationships with hospital engineers and M&E contracting companies to offer
quality equipment and service for hospitals.
- We were involved in numerous projects in the north of England including DTC’s and PFI
bids, mainly as a sub-contractor (suppliers of IPS/UPS systems)
- We provided manufactured materials and components for numerous clients and projects,
including structural steelwork and other fabrications
- Also providing installation, commissioning and maintenance services for operating theatres
and critical care areas, involving project management and materials logistics
2001 to March 2003 Dräger Medical (Architectural Systems)
Appointed as business development manager in July 2002, reporting to both regional and
national sales directors, I was responsible for:-
- Establishing leads and co-ordinating with account managers.
- Qualifying leads by inclusion of site visits/surveys, pre-contract meetings and written
quotations.
- Establishing targets and reporting at sales meetings.
- Developing project specifications into manufactured product co-ordinated with UK and
German projecting departments.
Appointed as Contract Manager in February 2001, reporting to the Projects Director, I was
responsible for, Pre-contract meeting and design clarification, site survey and contractor
liaison
- Co-ordinate manufacturing detail drawings with Dräger (Germany) and customer design
approval, completing all relevant quality documentation and purchase orders.
- Programme and instruct sub-contract labour on mechanical and electrical installation of
equipment on site, produce post installation testing and handover documentation for
customer approval.
3. 1999 to 2001 Dräger Medical (Gas Management Systems)
Appointed as Product Manager in September 99, for this medical gas equipment
manufacturer reporting to the General Manager, I was responsible for:-
- Design and development of the current product range and the introduction of new products
through direct liaison with customers, design engineer and manufacturing employees.
- Marketing and promotion of the company and products through advertising and
merchandising, including product data sheets.
- Updating product literature, including technical files for each product, in line with current
manufacturing and testing techniques to provide the users with correct and presentable
instructions.
- Produced bills of materials, assembly and test instructions for the manufacturing personnel.
Working with and maintaining the company quality assurance system to ISO9001.
Developed a user interface for drawing and manufacturing information on microsoft access.
- Marketing and product training presentations in house and abroad, involving customers and
Dräger partnership companies.
1998 to 1999 JAB Design (Architectural, Civil and Building Services design consultants)
Reporting to the Managing Director and as Business Support Manager, I was responsible
for:
- Supervising permanent and contract non-technical support staff
- The design and Implementation of the Quality Management System in line with ISO9001,
accredited 17/2/99. Ensuring that design and management is carried out effectively and
efficiently whilst maintaining traceability, this included internal quality audits.
- Network, peripheral and computer support for 20 users, on Microsoft NT version 4.0. This
included initiating backup routines using Cheyanne Arcserve, solving software/hardware
problems and training staff to use Microsoft Office 97 Professional.

Reporting to the Technical Director as Drawing Office Manager, I was responsible for: -
- Supervising permanent and contract drawing/reprographic staff
- Undertaking design draughting, bill of materials' maintenance and all reprographic work;
including the printing of drawings and instruction manuals and the collation of
documentation to meet customer requirements
- Scheduling, monitoring and prioritising workloads
- Controlling, maintaining and securing the CAD system (AutoCAD rev 12) and drawing
register with regular server back-ups
- Creating work instructions, test procedures and engineering specifications
