Personal Statement
I was a production manager with over 35 years experience in many disciplines within
manufacturing, occupational health & safety & mechanical engineering. After the
change in the pension rules in 2015 I decided to pursue my ambition of working
totally in the health & safety & environmental sector. I am confident man manager
with a firm belief in people empowerment & team working. I have an excellent
knowledge of finite capacity planning together with good problem solving skills.
These broad based transferable skills, together with a wealth of engineering
experience, have meant that I have had high levels of achievement in whatever job
disciplines I have undertaken.
Over the past 6 years I have undergone considerable training, covering the majority
of aspects within the health & safety industry, as I wish to specialise in this field. I am
currently considering doing my Initial Professional Development (IPD) with IOSH, to
achieve CMIOSH as well as ensuring my CPD is updated on a regular basis. I have
recently completed the NEBOSH Environmental Certificate to compliment my health
& safety knowledge.

achieve very good team performance. I have a good working knowledge of all the
usual Microsoft packages enabling the creation, development & streamlining of
manufacturing, health & safety, environmental & quality systems. I am dependable,
reliable & have a persistent approach to analysing & solving problems, I am
proficient in occupational health & safety best practices & legislation as well as a
number of other disciplines gained from a manufacturing background
2. Experience
Over 30 years experience in manufacturing, engineering, occupational health
& safety, procurement, sales & quality systems.
Background in a wide range of electronic, electro-mechanical & mechanical
manufacturing businesses.
Implementation of modern manufacturing techniques covering all aspects of
electronic & electro mechanical manufacturing.
Compiled & submitted MOD tenders for the supply of sonar equipment to
the Royal Navy.
Planning & implementing factory moves & designing new factory layouts on
three occasions.
Accountability in defining, maintaining & improving designated KPI’s,
including writing reports to board level.
Writing policies, procedures & implementation of HSG65 / ISO18001 based
occupational health & safety management system & ISO 9001 quality

deliver training & toolbox talks on manual handling, fire awareness, DSE
(Display Screen Equipment) & noise induced hearing loss.

Achievements
Designed & implemented a health & safety management system based on
HSG 65 / ISO18001 for Brandenburg UK Ltd. Developed a proactive health &
safety culture within the company by ensuring all concerned parties
understood the positive reasons for H & S.
As manufacturing manager at Brandenburg UK Ltd reduced assembly time by
12% through continuous improvement processes by promoting operator led
initiatives.
As production manager for Astec Europe Ltd planned & executed 3 successful
factory relocations whilst maintaining customer order deadlines.
As press shop manager for Brandenburg UK purchased & planned the
installation of new capital equipment valued in excess of £100k on several
occasions.
3. As manufacturing manager for Brandenburg UK Ltd increased stock turns by
28% reducing inventory by £50k using supplier Kanban, consignment stocking
& implementing the use of Preactor finite capacity planning.
As press shop manager for Brandenburg UK Ltd grew press shop sub contract
sales from £50k per annum to £404k per annum within two years.
As manufacturing manager at Brandenburg UK Ltd put in place recycling
scheme which reduced waste sent to landfill by 70%.
Career History
January 2015-
Self-employed Health & Safety Consultant (after deciding to become self-employed
in Dec 2014 following the new pension provisions)
I currently have an ongoing contact, on a one day per week basis with a West
Midland client to provide all their health & safety requirements. I am currently
reviewing construction phase plan documentation as well as ensuring CDM
regulations are complied with as part of a new extension to the factory project.
I have provided services to a West Midland health & safety consultancy for a
contract in the automotive industry, July 2015 – Dec. 2015 (3 days / week). The work
completed covered 3 sites including an office complex & consisted of ISO18001 audit
preparation, carrying out job specific risk assessments, DSE risk assessments, noise
risk assessments, pregnancy risk assessments, COSHH risk assessments, method
statements/SSOW (RAMS), fire risk assessments & completed site safety audits. I
devised & delivered training events covering fire awareness, manual handling, DSE &
the consequences of noise at work. I have advised & carried out RIDDOR reporting &
many other aspects of assisting companies in complying with health & safety legal &
moral requirements. I also reviewed & updated the company’s environmental
aspects & impacts register as well as carrying out environmental site audits.

Brandenburg UK Ltd – Manufacturing Manager/ Health & Safety Officer, managing a
workforce of 50+ people, reporting to Managing Director. This role covered all
aspects of managing the manufacturing workforce to deliver orders in a cost
effective timely manner. The role also included managing the factory infrastructure
& responsibility for health & safety over 2 sites.
