This is a supporting statement of my experience I believe I have valuable years of
experience in both facilities administration that are being wasted. Whilst I am in my
present employment. When I took early retirement from the Supreme Court. After a
short time I was missing the work enormously. I need to get back to the job I am most
comfortable with. “As a former highly-self-motivated and results orientated civil service
E.O. manager within facilities and health and safety, I have a proven track record of
providing exemplary levels of service to a broad range of customers, including VIPs and
high-profile individuals”. The experience and contributions I can bring to this position are
as follows.
Personal attributes:
I am a conscientious, competent self-starter. Able to prioritise my duties, Very
interactive with my customers (a go-to person) for many various requirements problem
solving coordinating with other professionals to achieve a best management and budget
outcome. I have mentored my team members for over 10 years. Multitasked with day to
day facilities management. Being pro-active as and where required. Able to respond to
changing task, if a more important issue arises.
Management of staff:
I have had previous experience in managing teams of up to 12 people and the
responsibly of interviewing for new personnel. Completion of appraisals and objective
setting. Mentoring experience.
Experience & Dedication:
Having worked for the previous fourteen years in various civil service departments. All
within Westminster I have undertaken varying facilities positions within leading
departments such as The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, the Privy Council and
the Cabinet Office Assisting the Accommodations Director – Building Manager of The
Supreme Court with the initial refurbishment setup and the official opening by H.M.
Queen Elizabeth in October of 2010.
Making Judgments & Meeting Target and Deadlines:
Dealing with the damage to the Court caused by the London riots. Being the first on
scene. Making certain that the court building was ready for business on the same day. A
multi tusker I am able to work on my own or within a team initiative making decisions
and judgment’s as and when required.
Budgets:
Forecasting strategic projecting of accruing the department costs its profits and losses.
Security and Profile:
I have also worked in Downing Street for nine years. The security experience I gained
working within a high profiled area gave me a good understanding for working in the
Supreme Court. I am very integral with the keeping confidential information to myself.
Having previously been in highly confidential and security conscience civil service
departments this has been a necessary need. Also in the court I worked closely with the
security department.
Coordination:
Working as the point of contact for all helpdesk needs. As well as ad-hoc requests. All of
these placements have enabled me to develop not only specific to facilities and health
and safety industry experience, but also a valuable and transferable skill for a fast -paced
sector.
2. Health and Safety:
As a FICO and coordinator for both first aiders and fire wardens inclusive of regular
training and meetings. With the Supreme Court. Having spent time with British Red
Cross as a first aider gave me a good ground for this area.
Communication:
Confident communicating high ranking officials Law Lords, Ministry Officials, senior
management.
Also having an extremely good working and communicative relationship with suppliers
and contractors. Obtaining quotes for various building maintenance projects delivered
within budget guidelines. Also issuing work permits, method statements, risk
assessments, security passes. Working very closely with the chief executive and other
board members on site security manager on various building security issues. Serving on
committees for heritage coordination, building defects with our contractors, architects,
building agents and other service agents.
Regular building inspections with the maintenance supervisor drawing up snag lists for
remedial works and health and safety issues. Dealing with staff issues, requirements and
DSE assessments. Organizing various planned maintenance tasks for hard and soft
services. Together with ad-hoc various planned maintenance tasks.
Purchasing & Negotiating:
Requisition of court forms and additional printing. Furniture and stationary requirements.
Negotiating best prices with suppliers. Completion of purchase orders.
Record Keeping:
Keeping of various KPI’s and other building records.
Planning:
I am a problem solver, a methodical team player. Taking bookings for meeting rooms
and refreshments, where required. Assisting the HR director with their administration
needs.
PC Awareness:
I have worked with MS Office and Excel and Power point to a reasonable standard. I
have also been responsible for designing HR forms / Facility forms in the court and
various forms of design in other civil service departments. Together with work completed
on the JCPC web pages. I was responsible for putting together a presentation for the
Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (JCPC) on power point. Also the scanning of over
