Experience: I have 25 years experience of working within the construction industry, mostly at
Site Foreman/Site Manager level. During this time I have gained a wide range of experience
and knowledge relating to the industry. The roles and variety of contracts I have undertaken
have required me to fully manage and deliver schemes/jobs in accordance with programmes
and standards from site set up to site clearance ensuring the highest level of health and safety
is maintained at all times. I have been responsible for the securing and co-ordination of
significant numbers of sub contractors simultaneously ensuring that they are engaged at the
appropriate times of the programme in line with other tradesmen and that sufficient
resources are deployed where required. I have been responsible for assessing the materials
and machinery/equipment required ensuring that they are ordered and delivered to site when
required. I am able to read drawings to ensure that specifications and standards are met and
where there have been practical difficulties in implementing the required specifications I
have liaised with the design consultants to overcome the issues, often offering suggested
solutions based on my knowledge and experience. I have been required to regularly meet and
liaise with clients, design team consultants, statutory assessors such as Building Control,
Planning Inspectors, Health & Safety Inspectors etc with regards to progress against
programmes, on site issues, compliance with statutory regulations etc. I have also
undertaken the snagging of jobs when complete and ensured that any snags identified are
addressed immediately. I have experience of managing a directly employed team of multi-
professionals including recruitment and termination, on site induction, performance and time
management, processing of timesheets etc. In addition I have been responsible for obtaining
sub contractor quotations and ensuring invoices are validated in accordance with work
carried out and processed in accordance with company procedures.
I have experience of working on new build projects as well as large scale
refurbishments in relation to housing developments, NHS environments, retail and leisure
developments and highways. I have been required to work on contracts which are
unoccupied as well as working around areas that require general public access to be
maintained and have experience of working in environments that have been occupied. On all
occasions, I have undertaken risk assessments and method statements to ensure the safety of
everyone both within and around the site boundaries is maintained at all times.
During one of the contracts I managed, a substantial level of asbestos was
identified which impacted on the ability to safely continue with the job. I co-ordinated the
activity associated with the disposal of the asbestos in conjunction with Asbestos Specialists
ensuring that the safety of the manpower on site was maintained at all times. This involved a
review of the programme and tasks to determine which jobs would not be affected by the
disposal work and therefore could be brought forward so as not to delay the delivery of the
scheme.
The contract to convert domestic houses to student accommodation
involved 81 conversions in total across three major cities, with me managing in the region of
15 conversions at any given time from enabling works through to development works
through to snagging and handover. Each property required a conversion to 7 bedroom
accommodation with communal areas with each property having a delivery programme of
12-16 weeks. This was an extremely busy contract requiring continuous assessment of the
progress and readjustment of manpower and materials accordingly.
More recently I have been working as Site Manager overseeing social
housing refurbishments which include refurbishment of bathrooms and kitchens and re-
3. wires. I have responsibility for the day to day management of a work stream including sub
contractors. I am responsible for managing the whole delivery of works on my stream
including pre-starts, weekly programming of works, daily site activities and handovers. I
respond promptly and professionally to issues and problems raised by the tenants and
consider myself to have excellent customer service skills in this regard. Overall, this role
requires a high level of organisational skills as often co-ordination of the day to day work is
spread across a large geographical area. I work closely with the Quality Control Inspectors to
ensure that works are completed to the highest standard and that properties are ready for
handover. I am responsible for completing a range of paperwork in a timely manner to
support the work being carried out. I am also responsible for ensuring all sites within my
remit are fully compliant at all times with Health and Safety Standards and generally score
maximum marks in the regular Health and Safety monitoring assessments undertaken across
my sites.
Key Skills: I consider myself to have a disciplined mind that gives clarity under pressure and am able to
respond accordingly to new and demanding situations. I am confident in making decisions
where appropriate and have the ability to react and adapt to situations quickly and
appropriately. I work extremely well under pressure and enjoy working in high pressure
demanding situations. I am able to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team as well
as on my own initiative. I have a very high regard to health and safety and take pride in
ensuring the highest of standards are maintained on the sites for which I am responsible. I
have well developed communication skills with an ability to communicate with individuals at
all levels and from all backgrounds. I am able to set and achieve deadlines. I have a good all
round knowledge and understanding of trades and have a trade background in carpentry. I
consider myself to be conscientious and dedicated and strive to deliver all my jobs within the
timescales set and to the highest of standards, very often undertaking on site tasks myself in
order to meet deadlines. I consider myself to be a loyal, committed and hard working
individual who gives 100% to any job I undertake.
Additional Information: I hold a full UK driving license.
Hobbies: I enjoy undertaking DIY, reading and keeping fit.
