2. Contact sheet I choose this image because I like the fact Terry’s jacket is
the main focus- it will have a bolder colour and therefore
bring more attention to the poster. I also like how strong
the grip is on one another and adds to this tragic, intense
tone for the teaser.
This image I will not be using as the composition looks a
little forced- initially I thought that having both jackets in
view would showcase the relationship between the
characters better, however there's little to no pay off with it
and would (due to the landscape angle) be cut off
awkwardly too
I'll be using this image due to the darker light thanks to the
camera un-focusing slightly, it gives the photo a dreary but
intimate atmosphere with perfectly conveys the tone of the
film. I personally like the blocking here more than the other
photos too. It's quite a difficult shot to take with the two
models for a long period of time so there would be shots of
them laughing or one smiling and the other one not, however
this shot seems to have both completely straight faced,
again, relay the serious/ sad style of the film.
3. Contact sheet I deicide to avoid using this photo as even though it is keeping
with the serious mood of the film, with the models keeping a
straight face, the blockings a little off as the pair aren’t as close
as I would of liked them to be. It just lacks a little intimacy
between the characters (that the other photo that I have
chosen emulated)
I chose this picture to use for my landscape as this was the most
polished out of the set taken for the landscape poster. I decided
to go with may still wearing a jacket to represent the fact she’s
still clinging onto the past, whilst Terry is missing hers implying
she has moved on and isn’t weighed down by their history
together. Both have straight faces and having May’s model eyes
closed whilst the model of Terry glares into the camera perfectly
captures the ‘she knows something we don’t’ narrative. Having
an empty white wall backdrop more so adds to the ghostly theme
and fit under the solid fill convention from drama posters that I
wanted to utilize.
Again I didn’t go for this photo as it looked a little awkward- at
first I thought in editing I could paint both figures a solid black as
a call back to the ‘one in the same’ motif I was initially going for,
but on second thought, I think having only the model of may
wear the jacket adds deeper meaning to the poster as a whole.
5. Technical information
Equipment used to take the photography- Canon
EOS 4000D / tripod
Technical aspects-
Lighting: white balance manual (no flash)
Focus: (autofocus)
ISO Aperture Shutter Speed
3200 F/16 30mm 1/15 sec.
I intended to create a photo with a high aperture in order to make the photo lighter. For this image I wanted the two models to be
the focus of the photo so I framed them in the middle – having them central adds a layer of intimacy whilst more-so (by having an
empty backdrop) adds layer of isolation that conveys the films mysterious/ uneasy tone.
I believe I achieved the meaning I wanted to convey through my photo as the composition and use of lighting- the hard light helped
define the shadows and highlights on the two subjects and the focus on both subjects is clear too. This helps emulate the ghostly,
isolated theme of the film whilst is keeping to the narrative of the two character's (they are the focus of the film and the photo). By
having this be the final poster released (with the twos faces on show) hopefully, it help to get the audience excited for the movie
being released as they've watched the mystery slowly unravel over the months of distribution for the teaser and theatrical and now
can go watch the film being fully invested in the characters they barely know , it will also contain the release date.
(My ISO setting was set to auto when I did this shoot which is why it is so high)

I believe I achieved the meaning I wanted to convey with my photo, by having the photo come out darker it creates a foreboding
and serious tone that helps sets the film as a serious, heavy watch. The focus on the pairs faces helped the photo come out
more immersive.

I believe I achieved the meaning I wanted to convey with my photo, the lighting reflects well on both jackets allowing for highlights
and shadows to give the objects some depth, the focus more so is clear on the two
