May is distraught at a social club after ending things with Terry. When Terry shows up looking for answers, May ignores her. Paul comforts May as she breaks down. May explains to Terry outside that Terry is dead, having died suddenly weeks ago. May brings Terry to a cemetery where Terry's grave is being dug. Terry realizes she is a ghost, as people have been ignoring her. Though startled by the revelation, Terry maintains her upbeat attitude. May invites Terry to join her at a cafe, seeking an escape and a proper conversation with Terry.

AL GREEN'S LETS STAY TOGETHER begins to play us into the film
STRAIGHT CUT FROM A BLACK SCREEN
INT. THE BACK OF THE SOCIAL CLUB--DAY
We open on an extreme close up on MAY'S eyes, glassy and wet
from tears that have trickled down her face- leaving a
distinct stain. She looks forward, but not into the camera,
pupils dilated, her left eye lid twitching slightly almost as
if she's refusing to blink. She has little to no make-up on,
only a slight layer of mascara that has made its way down her
face along with her tears. Slowly we track out to reveal her
face, below her eyes sit two dark rings (she clearly hasn't
slept well) she bites down on her cheek.
We zoom out some more and find her standing in a vastly empty
hall. Behind her, mounted on the wall, is the club's name in
a range of plastic letters. A few men in all black suits
converse in small talk. Ever so often, one or two of them
will peer over at her. Beside them stands a small flimsy fold
up table that holds a coffee machine and a couple discarded
cups.
MAY sports a tight black dress under a heavy brown, suede
jacket. Her long, black braided hair done up in butterfly
locs. In her right, trembling hand she holds a large glass of
wine. She slowly lifts the glass to her face and reluctantly
takes a sip. We hear the CREAK OF THE DOOR before panning to
the left.
INT. SOCIAL CLUB ENTRANCE--DAY
At the hall's entrance we find TERRY awkwardly making her
entrance, holding the hefty, oak door slightly a jar to
prevent it from slamming shut. An assortment of bright,
slightly torn posters are scattered around the door, all
advertisements of old events for the social club. She's
wearing an obscure band shirt, accompanied by a pair of
ripped black jeans and a tight red leather jacket. Her blonde
knotty hair pinned up in a messy bun. Her skin seems like
it's almost glowing with a sickly white, her face sunken and
skeletal. As we pan to her the backing track suddenly cuts
and upon TERRY's release the DOOR SLAMS.
INT. THE BACK OF THE SOCIAL CLUB--DAY
MAY quickly glances over in reaction to the sudden noise only
to instantly turn her head in the other direction, eyes now
wider than ever, her teeth digging deeper into her cheek to
the point that it looks like a crater has formed on the side

of her face. We see her hands trembling more than ever, the
wine running up and down the sides of the glass she holds.
TERRY's silhouette almost glides into shot next to MAY.
TERRY
(O.S.)
Bit quiet huh?
We see her shooting a shy smile to May, this is not
reciprocated.
MAY stands stiff, like TERRY was a wasp she was looking to
rid, her head still turned forward, eyes darting around the
room desperately looking for a distraction. TERRY folds her
lips together for a moment, glancing down at the floor and
then back up at MAY wearing a newly forced grin.
TERRY
You, uh, you been up to much?
An awkward silence
TERRY
Tell you what though, must have done a
right number on myself the other
night, can't remember anything these
last couple days!
No response, MAY keeps her head held in the same position,
her chest rapidly jumping up and down as her breathing gets
quicker and quicker, yet little to no sound comes out from
her.
INT. THE FRONT OF THE SOCIAL CLUB--DAY
At the opposite end of the room, a wide glass set of doors
and neighboring windows exhibit the world outside. Rows of
trees lay alongside the main road, cars quietly passing by,
the nearby church towering over the wood, overlooking the
social club ominously. Forward from the windows and doors
stands a table loaded with cheap gourmet- the food that sits
there dressed to look fancy yet are clearly composed of store
bought nibbles. A few people dressed similarly in all black,
huddle around the table, picking at the scraps, almost in
sync glimpse over in the pairs direction- looks of confusion,
sympathy and concern all directed at MAY.
TERRY
Oh brilliant! What grub you got then?
Can't think of when I last ate-

TERRY stops herself, looking back to an even more distraught
MAY. She bashfully tilts her head slightly to the ground.
TERRY
Sorry. I know, this, this probably
isn't the best time for me to show up-
I mean, I just, I didn't realise...
She strokes the right corner of her mouth before pinching her
chin, all the while intently staring a MAY, who still,
dismisses her.
TERRY
I just want to fix this May.
Almost suddenly MAY breaks down, though only momentarily, she
makes an audible sharp gasp followed by a quick series of
sniffs that she immediately retracts, as she tries her best
to hold it together. She clumsily wipes the tip of her nose,
catching her septum piercing before holding her hand to her
mouth, and closes her eyes.
INT. THE FRONT OF THE SOCIAL CLUB--DAY
A man from the huddled group emerges. He dons an all black,
creased suit, his shoes, loose laces-like snakes- wrapped
around his ankles. It looks as though he threw it on in a
rush, though in stark contrast his gelled, brunette hair
neatly combed and his face, clean shaven. As he turns to face
MAY, he holds a plate overflowing with finger food, sucking
the cheese dust from his thumb.
PAUL
(obnoxious shout)
May?
He holds his free hand to his mouth in case she can't hear
him. She does.
INT. THE BACK OF THE SOCIAL CLUB--DAY
MAY
Fine Paul, I'm fine!
TERRY watches as gradually MAY retains the same stone cold
stature shes been holding throughout the scene. There's a
slight pause before TERRY snipes a harsh look over to PAUL
and scoffs, turning her shaking head away in frustration.
TERRY
Yeah, right, of course. Look I'm

sorry, I'll just go.
However TERRY stays put. TERRY grits her teeth together,
holding a bitter smile.
TERRY
So, what? You're just gonna ignore me?
She shrugs her shoulders, lifting her arms up before heatedly
throwing them down to her sides
TERRY
(stumbles over her words)
Look, I get you wanna call it off and
all, an-and that's fine, but I think I
deserve an explanation! I mean like,
what did I do?
Silence.
TERRY
May?! Just please tell me!
MAY drops the glass, holding both hands, clenched in fists,
to the sides of her head, shaking vigorously. All heads in
the room turn on time as the glass hits the floor the sound
of a crisp SMASH cuts through the dead air. TERRY remains
standing, looking at MAY, waiting for an answer a look of
shock and confusion plastered on her face. PAUL jogs over
from the crowd of now concerned faces, he walks right past
TERRY, not even acknowledging her. The sound of GLASS
CRUNCHING under his feet. He looks down quickly in response
yet doesn't really react and continues to tread over it.
PAUL
May! What's happened?
He wraps his arm around her, bringing her in for a firm,
tight hug. MAY nestles herself into him, burying her head
into his chest, still shaking. She lets out a soft WHIMPER.
the crowd behind them slowly retreat, we now see no one but
the three of them in shot.
TERRY
(desperate shout)
She won't talk to me! Paul, please- I
just want to make up!
PAUL doesn't respond, he gently rubs his hand along MAY'S
back, head now burrowed within MAY'S hair.

PAUL
(calming)
It's alright, it's alright.
TERRY
Why are you both ignoring me? May
please just talk to me! I just- I have
to talk to you.
MAY
(mumbling under her breath)
Get out of my head, get out of my
head...
PAUL pulls his head up, tilting it down in MAY's direction,
bending down to her level. TERRY watches him, breathing
stiffly, she subtly shakes her head in dismay.
PAUL
May?
TERRY
May?!
TERRY goes out to reach her
MAY
(screech)
Just leave me alone!
She wriggles out of his hug and pushes herself past PAUL, and
speedily walks around TERRY to the door, she doesn't look
back, grasping her jacket, clutching it tightly together over
her chest.
EXT. OUTSIDE THE SOCIAL CLUB DOORS-- DAY
we follow her out, the door SLAMS behind her and the sound of
CARS PASSING BY and a GALE OF WIND emerge as she wonders
outside. TERRY follows shortly behind her.
TERRY
May? May?!
MAY stops dead in her tracks.
MAY
(to herself- out of breath)
what kind of sick-
she takes a deep breath, slowly turning back to TERRY who

stands there, arms wide at her sides, looking to MAY with
utter desperation. They stand, roughly 7 feet apart, staring
at one another.
MAY
What do you want from me?
TERRY beams slightly.
TERRY
A talk. Just a chat May.
MAY smiles, but it's not a happy smile, she turns her head to
side, trying to shake the tears building up in her eyes. She
sighs deeply
MAY
This just isn't fair, Terry.
TERRY
What is?
MAY
This! This is really not cool man.
TERRY scoffs, wiping the tip of her nose with the rim of her
sleeve
TERRY
Not exactly my idea of a walk in the
park either. I mean, like, you just
left me there, for, I mean no offence,
but for Paul...Paul! I mean I didn't
even do nothing!
She pauses for a moment to look back through the doors
windows at PAUL stood, hand at the back of his head, looking
around aimlessly, prior to being approached by a small set of
people inquiring about what just happened. She looks back to
MAY, biting her lip
TERRY
But, I mean, we have to try and at
least patch it up. Like, I don't want
to loose you because of something
stupid, I just want to know what I can
do.
MAY pushes her tongue to the front of her mouth, shaking her
head still, before looking back to TERRY

MAY
There's not much you do.
can
She goes to walk on, but stops as TERRY shouts out
TERRY
Well, if you can't tell me, show me!
Show me what i did, or what i can do,
just- please May.
MAY momentarily looks to the ground, she presses her lips
together, then back around at TERRY, tears now running down
her cheeks.
MAY
Okay.
SMASH CUT
EXT. LOCAL CEMETERY-- DAY
We find the pair overlooking a newly dug grave from a far, in
a relatively quiet graveyard. The church previously seen
towering from a distance is now a mere few feet away. It has
an grand arch, lined by rich, detailed engravings.
Surrounding it stands a field of gravestones, ranging in
shape and sizes. One in particular has a few men working on
it in bright, orange hivis vests, fitting the stone into the
ground, smoothing at the uneven earth that lies in front of
it. MAY looks over at TERRY who has her eyes fixed on the
grave. There's a moment of silence between the two, the sound
of a BLOWING WIND still haunting them.
TERRY
(numbly)
Okay.
For once, in a very long time, she found herself with nothing
to say. MAY looks at her intently, she ponders for a moment,
eyes still glassy with tears.
MAY
Are you real?
TERRY shrugs, eyes still stuck over at the men working, her
face cold, she looks angry and sad all at once. MAY presses
her tongue to the roof of her mouth, her mouth twist and
turns as she fights to talk.
MAY
Please say something.

TERRY
Is there anything to say?
She turns to MAY, her face paler than ever, glaring at her
with a firm stare.
MAY
I guess not.
TERRY
How did I-
MAY
I don't know...no one knows. It just
kinda happened so suddenly, you know?
TERRY
Maybe I'm not real. I feel pretty real
though.
Dead air suddenly falls upon the pair once again. One of the
construction workers of TERRY's grave, turns to them- he
holds his hand up friendly to MAY, she reciprocates. TERRY
watches as, once again, she's unnoticed.
TERRY
I guess that should of been a dead
give away.
She tilts her head towards the men working on her grave.
MAY
You wouldn't of thought to come here
anyway Ter.
As soon as the words leave her mouth, MAY'S taken a back a
little, she freezes up, remembering she's talking to someone
whose been dead for weeks.
TERRY
(with enthusiasm)
No, not the grave, the people. I've
been going around for days with people
just ignoring me- I mean, I guess I
just thought it was people being dicks
but then, like with you and Paul, I
just- I don't know.
She looks back to the grave, she sighs deeply, now seemingly
content with what's she's just been told. MAY smiles to
herself, only TERRY could bounce back from news like this so
9. 9.

quickly.
MAY
Why'd you come find me in the first
place? It's not exactly like I deserve
to be found.
TERRY
I didn't really think about it. You
had me blocked on almost everything,
you know? It's not like I could reach
you before now. I guess, I don't know,
I just saw you, and it's like, my legs
knew what I was doing before my brain
did.
MAY
Feeling pretty real then?
TERRY
Only when I'm around you.
An awkward pause rises, the pair stay put, both looking
forward emotionless. TERRY grinds her teeth together,
regretting having said that, she turns back to MAY
TERRY
May-
MAY
I-I'm pretty hungry, you?
TERRY
I don't think I'm allowed to be, am I?
MAY
Allowed? I mean, well, do you feel it?
TERRY
Not particularly, no.
MAY
Wouldn't stop you from joining me at
Blair's would it?
TERRY looks stunned by this, eyebrows raised in almost
delight yet the rest of her face stays blank.
TERRY
Blair's cafe? Didn't think you were in
that sort of mood, it's bit, full on
10. 10.

ain't it?
MAY
(acidly)
The only thing full on about Blair's
is that bloody neon yellow wallpaper
they've got. Honestly, feels like I'm
having my lunch inside a bloody
Stabilo highlighter... But I think I
need that right now.
TERRY
Eating in a highlighter?
MAY
(scoff)
No Terry-
MAY'S eyes travels off for a second
MAY
-an escape.
TERRY
And you want me there with you?
MAY
Wouldn't of said anything if I didn't.
TERRY
For a chat? Not like this, like a
proper one
MAY
If you want.
TERRY
Alright.
