2. The Present of Be
Sentences have a subject and a verb.
The present of be has three forms: Am, is are.
Use the verb be before nouns, adjectives, or
prepositional phrases.
Some Examples:
- My father is from Venezuela.
- I am a teacher.
- He is a singer.
- They are friends.
3. BE + NOT
We use be + not to make negatives statements.
We use contractions in speaking and informal
writing.
I’m not
She is not
They are not

She is not a good person.
They are not friends.
