17. 1. Share ground rules. Do warm up exercise.
2. Write the initial topic/question on flip chart so everyone can see it.
3. Brainstorm brainstorming questions– no solutions or no preambles. Capture.
Redirect any responses that suggest answers.
4. Select one or two questions for the brainstorm.
5. Generate ideas (Group structured or unstructured or individual/share).
6. Enforce the ground rules. Capture the ideas. (Scribe or sticky notes)
7. Clarify. Cluster similar ideas. SCAMPER.
8. Close the session. Get feedback on which ideas should be looked at further.

• Let ideas marinate for a few days before you bring
them together to make any decisions.
• Send out a summary of the ideas generated
• Follow up meeting using evaluation/decision-making
facilitation

prevent people from blasting others’ ideas. Creating a
positive culture of brainstorming. If people think their
ideas will be shredded, they might not want to contribute
in future sessions.
