Lutes, C., L. Lund, J. Lowe and K. Hallberg “Petroleum Vapor Intrusion Strategies at UST and non-UST Sites Under 2015 EPA and 2014 ITRC Guides” Oral presentation at the 26th Annual International Conference on Soil, Water, Energy and Air, March 2016, San Diego.
ITRC guidance is similar to the EPA LUST guidance, but is applicable to a wider range of sites.
We would like to be able to use the PVI guide approach at all sites where it is appropriate.
ITRC doesn’t use the “clean soil” term but basically defines a difference between the “vapor source” which can be soil and everything else.
In NC and CA we have seen cases where UST sites that were closed with high residual contamination. Allowable gross contamination levels can be fairly high.
