Effectiveness of main product and ancillary tasks combination
1. Q2- How effective is the
combination of your main product
and ancillary tasks?
2. Q2
My main product that I created was my music video and my two ancillary
tasks are my magazine advert and digipak. The combination of my media
product and ancillary tasks is very effective as the link between the three
makes them look quite professional. The three products contain black and
white footage of the artist, so that the audience knows who the products are
by. I used this image [11] as the artist’s face can be seen clearly so that the
audience can identify products created by the artist from the image.
3. Q2
When creating my ancillary tasks, I used the font ‘Satisfaction’ for the album
title and artist’s name, I also used this font for the magazine advert; this was
done to create consistency between the products and to form a brand
identity of the artist as the font could be seen as a ‘logo’ for the products and
will be associated with the products. Furthermore, the actor which I used in
my music video is the same person that I have used for the images in my
ancillary tasks in order to create consistency as the person will be associated
with the products. In order to make my music video, digipak and magazine
advert link together, I have used the same colour scheme throughout. For
example, I have used black and white images for my digipak and magazine
advert, as well as black and white writing to connect the three. Furthermore,
during the editing process of my music video, I made my video black and
white to link it to the ancillary tasks and make it seem more emotional.
4. Q2
The theme of my products are quite negative as the song I have used in my
music video is quite sad, I have portrayed this by using black and white
images and video footage in my products as it seems more emotional and
dramatic. I could add a scene into my music video which would be in colour to
show that she is finally happy again and the mood has shifted from negative
to positive.
5. Q2
It is important to have an effective combination of the products so that it
looks professional and it makes the audience want to find out more about the
product before they buy it. My overall house style is black and white, which
makes my artist look sad and depressed and helps the audience to empathise
with her. I took my inspiration from the digipak and magazine advert from
Adele’s album ‘21’ as it shows black and white images of the artist looking
unhappy and moody, which makes people want to empathise with her. [12]
The text style throughout my ancillary tasks remains the same. On my digipak
my album title, artist name and tracklist all use the font ‘Satisfaction’ in white
and on my magazine advert I use the same font for the artist name and album
title to keep consistency in all of my products.
