Argumentative Essay On Animal Cruelty
"Americans have been keeping wild animals in captivity for entertainment purposes for more than 150 years" causing many animals to live horrible
lives in imprisonment. I believe the imprisonment of animals for human entertainment to be Animal Cruelty. Animal Cruelty is the crime of inflicting
physical pain, suffering or death on an animal. The first U.S Zoo, the Philadelphia Zoo opened in 1874. This opened a path for others to go out into
the wild and capture wild, exotic animals to show off to the public and make money. Many make this seem harmless by releasing the animals back into
the wild, causing more problems. The capturing of animals results many to become a risk to endangerment. Now, ironically, the capturing of animals is

Circuses to me, are the most cruel to animals when training for acts, animals are whipped if they make a mistake instead of being loved. Animals being
used for entertainment thwarts the animals natural behavior and instinct. In Circuses, animals are forced to do unnatural acts and get punished if they
do not do it right. Therefore, they lose their instincts as they become accustomed to the circus acts. Animals all have a natural behavior and instincts
they are born with made to survive in their habitat/environment. When animals are captured and trained to do other than what they are used to they
lose the knowledge of being able to depend on themselves and become dependent and the humans that captured them. A 26– year old orca was released
into the wild after being kept imprisoned for years to film a movie called "Free Willy". The orca was taught how to survive in his environment before
being released but was accustomed to having human companions and died a year after being released because he did not recognize a life without
humans. This shows the long–term effect of capturing a wild animal and keeping it imprisoned for a long period of time. Wild animals are meant to be
wild and stay in the wild. When animals have human companionship for a long time they become used to the idea of being around humans and doing
tricks/acts to avoid punishment.
Animals being used for entertainment violates animal rights. Animal Rights

Animal Violence And Animal Cruelty
We can learn a lot about a society and its future by the manner in which their children behave. There are severe consequences of animal abuse when
enacted or witnessed by children (Ascione & Arkow 1999). After reviewing much contradicting literature and conducting several studies with violent
criminals, researchers Christopher Hensley, Suzanne E. Tallichet, and Erik L. Dutkiewicz found that most offenders used more atrocious acts of
maltreatment as children that called for intimate physical interactions with the animals (Hensley, Tallichet, & Dutkiewicz 2011). We must be cautious
of what children are replicating from not only their families, but from the society around them because this is how animal cruelty in countries such as
Romania, is...show more content...
Romania has demonstrated extreme levels of the severe consequences of the effects of animal cruelty. This is mostly due to the lack of implementation
and enforcement of policies as well as an excess of violent–ridden environments. After contemplating all the destructive consequences that such
violence is having on humanity today, we must educate children on the horrors of animal cruelty, promote humane policies, and work as a global
community so that the cycle of violence is broken in not only Romania, but in other countries as

Why is our generation getting crueler each day? Nowadays you don't show respect to everyone or everything. You could hurt or kill someone or
something without expressing any emotions. Animals also have feelings. For example, they can feel pain. I know that when we get hurt it's the
worst feeling. Imagine how these poor animals are feeling. Anyone who approves of these cruel actions is sick. Let me tell you of a story of a
stone cold hearted monster. There was a man who I guess didn't like dogs and kicked the small little dog to death. This is the type of action that
police should be a little more alert with. Why are we not doing anything about this? Isn't this a crime? Why is this not taken more seriously? We need

pitchforks etc. These are the things circus people use to show cruelty towards the animals. The article also states that, "these training practices

Physical tortures are hidden and now going into animals being sexually abused. The use for animal entertainment is cruel because they're abused.
According to Peta, many people including factory people rape/sexually abuse animal. This is information is clear, it's saying desperate and

Animal Cruelty : Animal Rights And Human Rights
Animals are a common member of many households and society as a whole. Being the dog lover that I am, I have experienced both personally and
observed the love and compassion that many share for their animals. There are individuals that will go to the extreme to take care of their animals
because they view their existence equally superior as ours. Unfortunately there are many who look to animals for personal benefits or simply don't
consider them equally important in any manner. These different views regarding animals contribute to the controversy of whether animals genuinely
have any rights. Rights should be granted to any living creature that has the ability to suffer. Amongst the many animal right issues existing in the
world, one that I feel is most common is animal cruelty. Naturally when thinking of animal cruelty one might think of neglect or physical abuse, when
in reality animal cruelty comes in many forms. Though animal cruelty is not singled towards one species or animal, dog fighting is a terrible act that
tends to go unnoticed. These dog fights take place for numerous reasons whether it just be for entertainment purposes or profit. Resulting from these
fights, there are many injured or killed animals. Similar to us, dogs have the ability to feel pain. We don't want anyone intentionally inflicting pain upon
us so why is it fairs for animals to experience such treatment? Animals serve a purpose, whether that be companionship, protection etc. so the least we

Intro: Can you imagine having the urge to intentionally hurt or even kill your helpless little puppy? Over the years, animal abuse has increased an
unbelievable amount. I believe animal rights need to be enforced to people across the world. Animals are helpless creatures that should only be
making the world a better place. I will enforce my belief by explaining what animal cruelty are, animal abandonment laws, and how to report animal
cruelty.

Animal Cruelty In The Fashion Industry
Individuals who keep pace with celebrities and the fashion industry will notice a trend when it comes to Animals being worn on the runway known
as, cruelty. It comes in various forms starting with animal exploitation for fur to leather, wool, feathers, and cosmetics. "No federal humane
slaughter law or restrictions exist to protect animals and killing methods are gruesome, resulting in unbearable torment and excruciating deaths of
innocent animals who watch their fellow cage mates as they are brutally killed in front of their innocent eyes" (p. 1). It is uncanny that we as
humans are comfortable with wearing someone else's skin after they are murdered. The act of killing to wear is not necessary in this day and age,
back in prehistoric times animals were hunted for fur as they did not have any other source of warmth. Today, we no longer live in caves, live the
lifestyle of cave people or hunt as our only source of food. Hence, it is a luxury but not a necessity to wear fur which is what makes the fashion
industry even more ghastly.
Eighty–five percent of the fur industry's skins come from animals living captive in fur factory farms. These farms can hold thousands of animals, and
their farming practices are remarkably uniform around the globe. As with other intensive–confinement animal farms, the methods used in fur factory
farms are designed to maximize profits, always at the expense of the animals (p. 1).
The only species on this earth that are capable of tormenting

Essay about Animal Cruelty on Farms
It is so easy to become complacent in our sheltered world and to turn the other cheek to the violence and misery that our every life decision can
perpetrate, and that the majority of the country (mostly unknowingly) buys into. The fact is that if the horrors of the meat industry were common
knowledge, the business would decrease, and drastically at that. So, to keep the knowledge from becoming widespread, meat and animal factory farms
are content to work quietly and discreetly in the sparsely–populated back corners of the country where no one can see what is being done without
making an active effort. The problem for them is, many people have been making an active effort– as the animal cruelty cause became more
mainstream, the US saw a...show more content...
Factory farms have taken advantage of this loose definition, and have been known to give a facility of 100,000 animals a door opening to a 5x5 pen
of dirt, and then have the audacity to label the animals free range. This is almost incomprehensibly cruel– an sadly, is more of the rule than the
exception when it comes to this industry. According to most sources, chickens are the most brutally treated of all farm animals. They are packed into
wire cages that deform their feet, and are on average given a space of only 8x10 inches in which they will live out their entire lives. Their feet tangle
and grow around the wire, as they don't have enough room to move or even turn around. The wire cages are stacked, meaning that everything– old food,
waste, remains of other chickens who have died– fall through the cracks and infect other chickens, causing rampant disease. One study showed that in
factory farms nationwide, 95% of chickens had e coli, and 75% of chickens sold in stores also showed traces of e coli. Unfortunately, it is cheaper
to let a chicken die a sickly, infected death than it is to get a vet to treat them, so it is rare that disease gets taken care of. Beaks are removed at a
young age without the use of anesthesia. A chicken's beak is analogous to an elephant's trunk– it is used for eating and communication, but also for
exploring and discovering. A chicken's beak is its main link to the world

Thesis Statement For Animal Abuse
Topic: Animal Abuse
Thesis statement: The number of animal abuse cases of the United States are rising and the correlation between this crime and other forms of abuse is
becoming more and more evident.
Annotated Bibliography
Acione, Frank R., and Phil Arkrow, editors. "Child Abuse,Domestic Violence, and Animal Abuse: Linking the Circles of Compassion for Prevention
and Intervention." Purdue University Press, 1999. The crux of this novel is the correlation between those who commit animal abuse crimes and what
happens later to their life. Acione and Arkrow dedicated an entire chapter of their publication to assess their opinion backed up of a listed compiled of
research. The piece of research that the authors chose to accentuate was the story of Luke Woodham. Woodham committed a terribly vile act of animal
abuse which resulted in the sixteen–year–old boy having to go to court. To officers the case had just seemed as a teenager blowing off some steam, but
it wasn't until Woodham was asked to speak about thecrime he had committed. I shall save you the disturbing details of his statements, but the
statement was along the lines of the sounds the animals made reminded the boy of a human. In the end, what those in the court learned stunned them.
Law enforcement thought they were dealing with a simple animals abuse case but now they realize that standing before them is one that could be
compared to criminals such as Bundy and Manson.

Humans have been using animals for consumption ever since we have been around on the Earth. As the populations of humans rapidly increases
throughout many centuries so has the consumption levels. Just within the last few decades has the awareness for animal rights gained tons of popularity.
PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) was created in 1980 and "Focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of
animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in the clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the entertainment

There argument is that they need to make sure they are making legit food for our household pets that is also beneficial to them. They claim nutrition
research for animals is important, and most people can agree, but they also claim it is not enough to just study animals that die from natural disease.
Iams, a leading maker of dog food, also claims they purchase and test on animals specifically bred for experiments. Iams also told PETA they "Will
continue to conduct laboratory tests on animals." PETA's undercover investigation revealed dog's vocal cords severed so they would not bark and they
were confined to "dungeon–like cells." (SpoilerAlert) There are several legit reasons why animals should not be used for food production and
treated the way they are and why the laws should be strengthened. On the other hand, we have been using animals for food consumption for millions
of years and it is undoubtedly humans main source of food consumption. The pros and the cons expand across the board, but one view seems to go
with both sides: the health risks and cleanliness of the factories need to be held at a higher standard, for everyone's sake. Without the strict laws in
place, the easy accessibility poses a great risk on humans and all other forms of life.

Animal Cruelty is a problem that many ignore. People are oblivious to these animals and the negligence their owners show. Animal cruelty is an
underlying problem in today's society, and the only way to counteract these problems, is for this generation to do something about it. Many people
do not report cases of animal cruelty. Reports of animal cruelty are less common than crimes against people. This is because the cases do not go
through state agencies. The animals that come to mind when someone mentions animal cruelty is often Dogs and cats. These animals do have a
higher percent rate, with dogs at 70.1%, cats at 20.9% and all other animals at 24.1%. The percent's come from cases that people report. If people
were to fill all cases of animal cruelty, the rates would be much more different. A common form of negligence is people taking their animal to a place
far from home to just leave them there. Animal control pick up these animals everyday and send them to shelter. For the most part the animals have a
healthy portion of food and they have shelter from the environment. Most shelters are kill shelters. No–Kill shelters become less common to their
counterpart. Animals not adopted within a certain period of time undergo euthanasia. This keeps room for more animals. No–kill shelters protect the
animals and help rehabilitate them. The other 24.1% is the factory animals. The purpose of a factory animal's life is a food source. So the owners
mistreat their animals because the animals purpose is to be a food source. It is almost as if they do not matter. They deserve animal rights just as
much as the other animals do. All animals are affected by animal cruelty, even if the animal does not experience the cruelty on a personal level.
Although the ones that experience the cruelty have greater issues after the abuse. Other animals like pit bulls getting a bad name by their owners
being negligent. Pit bulls can be aggressive; they do have an aggressive nature about them. This is only when they are provoked, but these dogs are not
dangerous. If the dog is taught right than the aggression is non–existent. If the owner is negligent to the animal and abuses the dog, it often brings out
the more mean side of the dog. The

Paul McCartney once said, "if slaughterhouses had glass walls, we would all be vegetarian." There are many different forms of animal cruelty, ranging
from labs, to farms, to even circuses. People have been using animals for a long time, they have controlled them for even longer. But despite that, there
have still been some positive outcomes from this otherwise dark subject. Some people support the things that are happening to these animals. But
others make it their mission to stand up for the animals that are mistreated everyday. Animal cruelty can mean many things to many different people, it
can be a controversial topic, with many different sides and stories to it, it has a long history, much of it being good, much of it bad.
There are more types of animal cruelty then one could even imagine. Many people do not consider that what they are eating, or wearing, or using, or
enjoying came at the cost of an animal. According to Rachel Hajar, one form of animal cruelty that has been put into the spotlight in recent years is
animal testing (Alternative to Animal Testing 39). Animals are brought into labs and spend their entire lives there being tortured, used, and
experimented on. It's estimated that each year, more than 100 million animals are used for experimenting. They use all sorts of animals, including

For instance, chimpanzees that are used in famous movies like the Planet of the Apes movies will often start their career very early on in their life. As

Performing chimpanzees are taken from their mothers at a very young age. This causes tremendous emotional and psychological distress to the

However, even after they are retired, film chimpanzees have no guarantee that their way of living will be restored. Some chimpanzees are lucky and

A.How is this an ethical and moral issue? What are the different opinions about the actual issue or how to solve the issue? Animal cruelty can be
either deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal. Either way, or whether the animal is a pet, a farm animal or wildlife, the victim
can suffer terribly. Animal cruelty is an ethical and moral dilemma as there is no clear right or wrong answers that can solve all of the issues. There
are numerous opinions on how this issue can be solved, these include; –Creating more animal protection laws e.g. ban animals in circuses –Harsher

varied greatly. The 'traditional' view is that humans are made in a different image than animals. It proclaims that humans have been given 'dominion'
over nature, meaning humans can use animals in accordance to their own needs (gen 1:28). However, many Catholics disagree and believe that God
gave human 'stewardship' over the animals, which means we are put on this Earth to look after and care for God's creation (Luke 12:6). There are a
number of Catholic authorities that discourage animal abuse; The Church of England held a conference in 1988 and 1986 that was concerned with this
issue. It reinforced that 'human beings are both co–partners with the rest of creation and living bridges between Heaven and Earth, with responsibility

The Problem: Animal Cruelty
Animal cruelty could involve beating, shooting or stabbing animals, or setting them on fire. Neglect is often a problem because people buy pets
then forget about them. Neglect is not giving an animal necessary food, water, shelter or vet care. Because their misery is often prolonged, animals
who die of neglect can suffer just as much as animals who are mistreated on purpose. Neglect and abandonment are the most common forms of pet
animal abuse in the United States. Each year 10,000 bull dogs die in bullfighting. Mice represent the largest increase in research with their numbers
going from 1.2 million to nearly 1.9 million in that period. Other animals also saw increases. For example, other animals increased from 7,292 to
11,167, though the change was not statistically significant. Furthermore, it has been estimated that there are 900 to 2,000 new cases every year of
animal hoarding in the US, with 250,000 animals falling victim. Also, over 115 million animals including dogs, cats, horses, monkeys, birds, and a
bunch of other animals are killed in laboratory experiments conducted by men and women worldwide for chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing
every year. Regardless of how trivial or painful animal experiments may be, none are prohibited by law. Also, it is amazing that experiments can be
done on any animal because the animals have no way of defending themselves or giving consent, humans can just do whatever they please.
The Solution: Human Cruelty Therefore, the solution to stop animals from being mistreated and experimented on, we should turn to
experimenting on humans and mistreating them purposefully. For instance, all of the homeless people we see on the side of the roads daily. They
should be picked up and taken to a special island or place and have all kinds of different experiments on them. So we can try and find a cure for
cancer and overload the homeless people we pick up of the roads and inject different types of drugs. If we inject all kinds of different drugs into them,
we will be able to see the side effects and reactions to the drugs. Also, we should be targeting homeless single adults have much higher rates of serious
mental illness, addiction

Animal Cruelty: A Crime Against Compassion

  • 1. Argumentative Essay On Animal Cruelty "Americans have been keeping wild animals in captivity for entertainment purposes for more than 150 years" causing many animals to live horrible lives in imprisonment. I believe the imprisonment of animals for human entertainment to be Animal Cruelty. Animal Cruelty is the crime of inflicting physical pain, suffering or death on an animal. The first U.S Zoo, the Philadelphia Zoo opened in 1874. This opened a path for others to go out into the wild and capture wild, exotic animals to show off to the public and make money. Many make this seem harmless by releasing the animals back into the wild, causing more problems. The capturing of animals results many to become a risk to endangerment. Now, ironically, the capturing of animals is ...show more content... Circuses to me, are the most cruel to animals when training for acts, animals are whipped if they make a mistake instead of being loved. Animals being used for entertainment thwarts the animals natural behavior and instinct. In Circuses, animals are forced to do unnatural acts and get punished if they do not do it right. Therefore, they lose their instincts as they become accustomed to the circus acts. Animals all have a natural behavior and instincts they are born with made to survive in their habitat/environment. When animals are captured and trained to do other than what they are used to they lose the knowledge of being able to depend on themselves and become dependent and the humans that captured them. A 26– year old orca was released into the wild after being kept imprisoned for years to film a movie called "Free Willy". The orca was taught how to survive in his environment before being released but was accustomed to having human companions and died a year after being released because he did not recognize a life without humans. This shows the long–term effect of capturing a wild animal and keeping it imprisoned for a long period of time. Wild animals are meant to be wild and stay in the wild. When animals have human companionship for a long time they become used to the idea of being around humans and doing tricks/acts to avoid punishment. Animals being used for entertainment violates animal rights. Animal Rights Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Animal Violence And Animal Cruelty We can learn a lot about a society and its future by the manner in which their children behave. There are severe consequences of animal abuse when enacted or witnessed by children (Ascione & Arkow 1999). After reviewing much contradicting literature and conducting several studies with violent criminals, researchers Christopher Hensley, Suzanne E. Tallichet, and Erik L. Dutkiewicz found that most offenders used more atrocious acts of maltreatment as children that called for intimate physical interactions with the animals (Hensley, Tallichet, & Dutkiewicz 2011). We must be cautious of what children are replicating from not only their families, but from the society around them because this is how animal cruelty in countries such as Romania, is...show more content... Romania has demonstrated extreme levels of the severe consequences of the effects of animal cruelty. This is mostly due to the lack of implementation and enforcement of policies as well as an excess of violent–ridden environments. After contemplating all the destructive consequences that such violence is having on humanity today, we must educate children on the horrors of animal cruelty, promote humane policies, and work as a global community so that the cycle of violence is broken in not only Romania, but in other countries as Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay On Animal Cruelty Why is our generation getting crueler each day? Nowadays you don't show respect to everyone or everything. You could hurt or kill someone or something without expressing any emotions. Animals also have feelings. For example, they can feel pain. I know that when we get hurt it's the worst feeling. Imagine how these poor animals are feeling. Anyone who approves of these cruel actions is sick. Let me tell you of a story of a stone cold hearted monster. There was a man who I guess didn't like dogs and kicked the small little dog to death. This is the type of action that police should be a little more alert with. Why are we not doing anything about this? Isn't this a crime? Why is this not taken more seriously? We need to find more ways on how...show more content... This means that animals aren't meant to perform. This demonstrates how animals are abused, now we will see how tortures are hidden. The use for animal entertainment is cruel because they're abused. According to The Last Chance for Animals Organization the weapons used in circus are bats, pitchforks etc. These are the things circus people use to show cruelty towards the animals. The article also states that, "these training practices generally will be hidden from public view"(Peta 1). This is saying what happens off stage are not shown on stage meaning, tortures towards animals. Physical tortures are hidden and now going into animals being sexually abused. The use for animal entertainment is cruel because they're abused. According to Peta, many people including factory people rape/sexually abuse animal. This is information is clear, it's saying desperate and disgusting people do their wanted perverted action on animals and not just farm animals. There is a story where this man raped a bird, now thats's just sick. The article also states that "cruel twisted, perverted and this kind of sexual violence happens everyday on factory farms" (Peta). This is saying that people who must not be right in the head, get on these animals and rape them. People think sexually abusing animals is alright, but it's not. We will see how animals are isolated from the world. The use for animal entertainment is cruel because animals are imprisoned. According to the Humane Society Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Animal Cruelty : Animal Rights And Human Rights Animals are a common member of many households and society as a whole. Being the dog lover that I am, I have experienced both personally and observed the love and compassion that many share for their animals. There are individuals that will go to the extreme to take care of their animals because they view their existence equally superior as ours. Unfortunately there are many who look to animals for personal benefits or simply don't consider them equally important in any manner. These different views regarding animals contribute to the controversy of whether animals genuinely have any rights. Rights should be granted to any living creature that has the ability to suffer. Amongst the many animal right issues existing in the world, one that I feel is most common is animal cruelty. Naturally when thinking of animal cruelty one might think of neglect or physical abuse, when in reality animal cruelty comes in many forms. Though animal cruelty is not singled towards one species or animal, dog fighting is a terrible act that tends to go unnoticed. These dog fights take place for numerous reasons whether it just be for entertainment purposes or profit. Resulting from these fights, there are many injured or killed animals. Similar to us, dogs have the ability to feel pain. We don't want anyone intentionally inflicting pain upon us so why is it fairs for animals to experience such treatment? Animals serve a purpose, whether that be companionship, protection etc. so the least we Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Animal Cruelty Essay examples Intro: Can you imagine having the urge to intentionally hurt or even kill your helpless little puppy? Over the years, animal abuse has increased an unbelievable amount. I believe animal rights need to be enforced to people across the world. Animals are helpless creatures that should only be making the world a better place. I will enforce my belief by explaining what animal cruelty are, animal abandonment laws, and how to report animal cruelty. Transition: First, I am going to talk about the different types of animal cruelty. I. When people hear the two words animal cruelty, many think this just includes hitting a dog. But these two words have so many different meanings. II. Animal cruelty is broken down into two main...show more content... vi. Hoarders have hundreds of animals living in their home living in filth including garbage and layers of feces. vii. Hoarders feel that they love the animals, but they are blind to the fact they are not caring for them responsibly. viii. Dead animals are found in the freezer, laying around the house, and embedded in the carpet. e. Another form of animal cruelty is animal fighting. ix. People specifically breed animals to train and fight each other within an enclosed pit or ring for the benefit of individuals who place bets on the animal they believe will win. x. Fights are extremely brutal, with animals fighting to death. f. Animal experimentation is also considered to be animal cruelty. xi. According to Peta,People for the ethical treatment of animals, 75,000 dogs are tormented in U.S laboratories every year. xii. Dogs are a favored species in toxicology studies. Large doses of a test substance like a household product or pesticide are pumped into animal's bodies, slowly poisoning them. xiii. The dogs were killed, and the damage to their heart tissue was studied. xiv. In a violent experimentation at the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Animal Cruelty In The Fashion Industry Individuals who keep pace with celebrities and the fashion industry will notice a trend when it comes to Animals being worn on the runway known as, cruelty. It comes in various forms starting with animal exploitation for fur to leather, wool, feathers, and cosmetics. "No federal humane slaughter law or restrictions exist to protect animals and killing methods are gruesome, resulting in unbearable torment and excruciating deaths of innocent animals who watch their fellow cage mates as they are brutally killed in front of their innocent eyes" (p. 1). It is uncanny that we as humans are comfortable with wearing someone else's skin after they are murdered. The act of killing to wear is not necessary in this day and age, back in prehistoric times animals were hunted for fur as they did not have any other source of warmth. Today, we no longer live in caves, live the lifestyle of cave people or hunt as our only source of food. Hence, it is a luxury but not a necessity to wear fur which is what makes the fashion industry even more ghastly. Eighty–five percent of the fur industry's skins come from animals living captive in fur factory farms. These farms can hold thousands of animals, and their farming practices are remarkably uniform around the globe. As with other intensive–confinement animal farms, the methods used in fur factory farms are designed to maximize profits, always at the expense of the animals (p. 1). The only species on this earth that are capable of tormenting Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Essay about Animal Cruelty on Farms It is so easy to become complacent in our sheltered world and to turn the other cheek to the violence and misery that our every life decision can perpetrate, and that the majority of the country (mostly unknowingly) buys into. The fact is that if the horrors of the meat industry were common knowledge, the business would decrease, and drastically at that. So, to keep the knowledge from becoming widespread, meat and animal factory farms are content to work quietly and discreetly in the sparsely–populated back corners of the country where no one can see what is being done without making an active effort. The problem for them is, many people have been making an active effort– as the animal cruelty cause became more mainstream, the US saw a...show more content... Factory farms have taken advantage of this loose definition, and have been known to give a facility of 100,000 animals a door opening to a 5x5 pen of dirt, and then have the audacity to label the animals free range. This is almost incomprehensibly cruel– an sadly, is more of the rule than the exception when it comes to this industry. According to most sources, chickens are the most brutally treated of all farm animals. They are packed into wire cages that deform their feet, and are on average given a space of only 8x10 inches in which they will live out their entire lives. Their feet tangle and grow around the wire, as they don't have enough room to move or even turn around. The wire cages are stacked, meaning that everything– old food, waste, remains of other chickens who have died– fall through the cracks and infect other chickens, causing rampant disease. One study showed that in factory farms nationwide, 95% of chickens had e coli, and 75% of chickens sold in stores also showed traces of e coli. Unfortunately, it is cheaper to let a chicken die a sickly, infected death than it is to get a vet to treat them, so it is rare that disease gets taken care of. Beaks are removed at a young age without the use of anesthesia. A chicken's beak is analogous to an elephant's trunk– it is used for eating and communication, but also for exploring and discovering. A chicken's beak is its main link to the world Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Thesis Statement For Animal Abuse Topic: Animal Abuse Thesis statement: The number of animal abuse cases of the United States are rising and the correlation between this crime and other forms of abuse is becoming more and more evident. Annotated Bibliography Acione, Frank R., and Phil Arkrow, editors. "Child Abuse,Domestic Violence, and Animal Abuse: Linking the Circles of Compassion for Prevention and Intervention." Purdue University Press, 1999. The crux of this novel is the correlation between those who commit animal abuse crimes and what happens later to their life. Acione and Arkrow dedicated an entire chapter of their publication to assess their opinion backed up of a listed compiled of research. The piece of research that the authors chose to accentuate was the story of Luke Woodham. Woodham committed a terribly vile act of animal abuse which resulted in the sixteen–year–old boy having to go to court. To officers the case had just seemed as a teenager blowing off some steam, but it wasn't until Woodham was asked to speak about thecrime he had committed. I shall save you the disturbing details of his statements, but the statement was along the lines of the sounds the animals made reminded the boy of a human. In the end, what those in the court learned stunned them. Law enforcement thought they were dealing with a simple animals abuse case but now they realize that standing before them is one that could be compared to criminals such as Bundy and Manson. As the populations of humans rapidly increases throughout many centuries so has the consumption levels. Just within the last few decades has the awareness for animal rights gained tons of popularity. PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) was created in 1980 and "Focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in the clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the entertainment industry." They claim nutrition research for animals is important, and most people can agree, but they also claim it is not enough to just study animals that die from natural disease. Iams, a leading maker of dog food, also claims they purchase and test on animals specifically bred for experiments. Iams also told PETA they "Will continue to conduct laboratory tests on animals." PETA's undercover investigation revealed dog's vocal cords severed so they would not bark and they were confined to "dungeon–like cells." (SpoilerAlert) There are several legit reasons why animals should not be used for food production and treated the way they are and why the laws should be strengthened. On the other hand, we have been using animals for food consumption for millions of years and it is undoubtedly humans main source of food consumption. The pros and the cons expand across the board, but one view seems to go with both sides: the health risks and cleanliness of the factories need to be held at a higher standard, for everyone's sake. Without the strict laws in place, the easy accessibility poses a great risk on humans and all other forms of life. Works Cited Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 11. Persuasive Essay On Animal Cruelty Animal Cruelty is a problem that many ignore. People are oblivious to these animals and the negligence their owners show. Animal cruelty is an underlying problem in today's society, and the only way to counteract these problems, is for this generation to do something about it. Many people do not report cases of animal cruelty. Reports of animal cruelty are less common than crimes against people. This is because the cases do not go through state agencies. The animals that come to mind when someone mentions animal cruelty is often Dogs and cats. These animals do have a higher percent rate, with dogs at 70.1%, cats at 20.9% and all other animals at 24.1%. The percent's come from cases that people report. If people were to fill all cases of animal cruelty, the rates would be much more different. A common form of negligence is people taking their animal to a place far from home to just leave them there. Animal control pick up these animals everyday and send them to shelter. For the most part the animals have a healthy portion of food and they have shelter from the environment. Most shelters are kill shelters. No–Kill shelters become less common to their counterpart. Animals not adopted within a certain period of time undergo euthanasia. This keeps room for more animals. No–kill shelters protect the animals and help rehabilitate them. The other 24.1% is the factory animals. The purpose of a factory animal's life is a food source. So the owners mistreat their animals because the animals purpose is to be a food source. It is almost as if they do not matter. They deserve animal rights just as much as the other animals do. All animals are affected by animal cruelty, even if the animal does not experience the cruelty on a personal level. Although the ones that experience the cruelty have greater issues after the abuse. Other animals like pit bulls getting a bad name by their owners being negligent. Pit bulls can be aggressive; they do have an aggressive nature about them. This is only when they are provoked, but these dogs are not dangerous. If the dog is taught right than the aggression is non–existent. If the owner is negligent to the animal and abuses the dog, it often brings out the more mean side of the dog. The Get more content on HelpWriting.net

• 14. Persuasive Essay On Animal Cruelty Animal Cruelty Paul McCartney once said, "if slaughterhouses had glass walls, we would all be vegetarian." There are many different forms of animal cruelty, ranging from labs, to farms, to even circuses. People have been using animals for a long time, they have controlled them for even longer. But despite that, there have still been some positive outcomes from this otherwise dark subject. Some people support the things that are happening to these animals. But others make it their mission to stand up for the animals that are mistreated everyday. Animal cruelty can mean many things to many different people, it can be a controversial topic, with many different sides and stories to it, it has a long history, much of it being good, much of it bad. There are more types of animal cruelty then one could even imagine. Many people do not consider that what they are eating, or wearing, or using, or enjoying came at the cost of an animal. According to Rachel Hajar, one form of animal cruelty that has been put into the spotlight in recent years is animal testing (Alternative to Animal Testing 39). Animals are brought into labs and spend their entire lives there being tortured, used, and experimented on. It's estimated that each year, more than 100 million animals are used for experimenting. They use all sorts of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, monkeys, fish, and more. They are forced to live in cages, confined, and isolated. As you read these, another innocent animal is being abused, neglected, or being harmed in some other way. Animal cruelty is wrong and happening all over the world although one may not notice. Animals in zoos and circuses are abused. They are used for testing, although there are many other alternatives. Companies use them for their leather and fur products. Circuses force them to do tricks and keep them in cages. There are millions of animals abused worldwide even though you may not notice it. Signs of abuse range from a pet not getting the needed water or food, to being physically beaten and abandoned. People neglect animals all the time. Some signs of animal...show more content... Deer, elk skin, pig skin, lambs, horses, goats, and the famous alligators and crocodiles are just a few of the animals used for these products. Although, the animals are not alive when they are skinned down still does not make it okay. The animals are put to sleep in order for them to do this. Also, it probably wouldn't work if they were alive because the animals would try to run. Believe it or not, cats and dogs are used for their skin in Asia for products that are sold to the United States (Is It True That Some). The clothing company Gucci announced they would stop selling fur products in 2018. This is huge news. All fur and leather products coming from animals fur and/or skin should be banned worldwide. Zoos are terrible places for animals that do not belong in cages. Zoos include roadside zoos, petting zoos, and smaller animal exhibits. The animals they have are meant to be out in the wild not locked up in cages. The areas are not big enough for them to be animals. They are held in captivity with nowhere to go because if they try to break out, they are going to get shot down. Animals are not meant for entertainment. If you want to see an animal there are many websites with live cameras in order to see it. Also, if you want to see animals the animals should have a free range area and the people ride around in cars to look. The people should take the chances of getting beaten, eaten, trampled, etc. Zoos make money off poor animals who have no choice Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Argumentative Essay On Animal Cruelty Over the years that animals have been used for entertainment purposes, in most cases it was likely to engage the audience to learn about a specific animal and help grow love and care for that animal. Today, animals are seen doing show stopping tricks whether it be on TV, in circuses, or in theme parks. However, are we unintentionally exploiting these animals to situations that they should not have to deal with? Specifically, when in come to cases of wild animals that follow their primal instinct to survive in their selective habitats. Many institutions that hold orcas claim to be preserving the orcas but this statement can be challenged because orcas in captivity have added on health issues to deal with than wild orcas. Consequently, the animals' quality of life is reduced to following trainer demands in fear of the repercussion. For instance, chimpanzees that are used in famous movies like the Planet of the Apes movies will often start their career very early on in their life. As a consequence these animals are subject to physical and mental abuse. Performing chimpanzees are taken from their mothers at a very young age. This causes tremendous emotional and psychological distress to the mother as well as to the infant. Trainers frequently use fear and physical discipline to control their apes and the degree of force increases as the apes grow. This continues until they're about 8 years old and too dangerous to work with. However, even after they are retired, film chimpanzees have no guarantee that their way of living will be restored. Some chimpanzees are lucky and placed in sanctuaries where they will be able to enjoy the rest of their lives roaming a large enclosure while others do not share the same fate and end up breeding for the next generation of film chimpanzees or in poorly Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. A.How is this an ethical and moral issue? What are the different opinions about the actual issue or how to solve the issue? Animal cruelty can be either deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal. Either way, or whether the animal is a pet, a farm animal or wildlife, the victim can suffer terribly. Animal cruelty is an ethical and moral dilemma as there is no clear right or wrong answers that can solve all of the issues. There are numerous opinions on how this issue can be solved, these include; –Creating more animal protection laws e.g. ban animals in circuses –Harsher fines for animal abusers –Educate people on why animal cruelty is a problem ANIMAL ABUSE– CATHOLIC Catholic views on animal abuse is varied greatly. The 'traditional' view is that humans are made in a different image than animals. It proclaims that humans have been given 'dominion' over nature, meaning humans can use animals in accordance to their own needs (gen 1:28). However, many Catholics disagree and believe that God gave human 'stewardship' over the animals, which means we are put on this Earth to look after and care for God's creation (Luke 12:6). There are a number of Catholic authorities that discourage animal abuse; The Church of England held a conference in 1988 and 1986 that was concerned with this issue. It reinforced that 'human beings are both co–partners with the rest of creation and living bridges between Heaven and Earth, with responsibility to make Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Animal Cruelty Essay Animals around the world are being taken out of their natural habitats, being breaded and fed antibiotics. Cruelty among the animals range from puppy mills, zoos, factory farms, and many more. People who hurt animals may not even know they're doing harm to them, but animals are dying all around us. According to DГ©sirГ©e Achollo of People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), families that adopt rabbits, goldfish, and hermit crabs don't take good enough care of the animals and the animals end up in the garbage (February 2010 n.p). DГ©sirГ©e Achollo of PETA states that they take very little care of these animals and many of them are forced into crammed cages (February 2010 n.p). She found that when baby tigers outgrow their cuteness they are dumped at roadside zoos or left to languish in crammed cages. Along with cute baby tigers being poorly taken care of, puppies around the world are dealing with brutality. What exactly is a puppy mill? It's a dog breeding operation that doesn't consider genetic quality. These puppies are sold to pet shops at as young as eight weeks old. Since they're breaded they're prone to congenital and hereditary conditions, such as heart and kidney failure, deafness, eye problems, blood disorders and many more. According to ASPCA the puppies live in overcrowded and unsanitary areas with no care, food, water and socialization (197). They're kept in cages with wiring floors that hurts the puppy's paws and legs. The breeder dogs at the mills live either outside or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Animal Cruelty Essay The Problem: Animal Cruelty Animal cruelty could involve beating, shooting or stabbing animals, or setting them on fire. Neglect is often a problem because people buy pets then forget about them. Neglect is not giving an animal necessary food, water, shelter or vet care. Because their misery is often prolonged, animals who die of neglect can suffer just as much as animals who are mistreated on purpose. Neglect and abandonment are the most common forms of pet animal abuse in the United States. Each year 10,000 bull dogs die in bullfighting. Mice represent the largest increase in research with their numbers going from 1.2 million to nearly 1.9 million in that period. Other animals also saw increases. For example, other animals increased from 7,292 to 11,167, though the change was not statistically significant. Furthermore, it has been estimated that there are 900 to 2,000 new cases every year of animal hoarding in the US, with 250,000 animals falling victim. Also, over 115 million animals including dogs, cats, horses, monkeys, birds, and a bunch of other animals are killed in laboratory experiments conducted by men and women worldwide for chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing every year. Regardless of how trivial or painful animal experiments may be, none are prohibited by law. Also, it is amazing that experiments can be done on any animal because the animals have no way of defending themselves or giving consent, humans can just do whatever they please. The Solution: Human Cruelty Therefore, the solution to stop animals from being mistreated and experimented on, we should turn to experimenting on humans and mistreating them purposefully. For instance, all of the homeless people we see on the side of the roads daily. They should be picked up and taken to a special island or place and have all kinds of different experiments on them. So we can try and find a cure for cancer and overload the homeless people we pick up of the roads and inject different types of drugs. If we inject all kinds of different drugs into them, we will be able to see the side effects and reactions to the drugs. Also, we should be targeting homeless single adults have much higher rates of serious mental illness, addiction Get more content on HelpWriting.net
