Over the years, I've had the opportunity to help this small school near General Viejo, Perez Zeledon, Costa Rica. A friend of mine, Adriana, is a teacher there and her children attend this school. As you may know, many months it rains in Costa Rica but when the Sun shines, it is hot. So to keep the children active and safe from the elements, this project came to life. This school is in a rural area of under privileged students. The White Oak Rotary Club of Pennsylvania initiated this International project, raising the funds needed to construct a new playground and purchase computers for the school. White Oak partnered with the Rotary Club in San Jose Costa Rica to manage and finance this project. With their guidance, the construction took new form from an intended basic playground to as you see it here, more of a community center with a new fence provided by the Education Ministry and new roofing over the walkway to the dining hall. This part of the project is near completion and once it is complete both clubs will continue with their assistance in pursuing the computers for the school of about 45 students. The scheduled inauguration is to be around February of 2015 when their school year begins again.
