Locate members profile in 4 different programs, obtaining 3 hippa protected pieces of information and provide

Assess whether member qualified for non-formulary drug coverage, with information provided by doctor/patient

Followed proper protocol per drug criteria for approval or denials.
Coached new hires, allow them to shadow at my desk with live calls and have them gather hands on experience
with live calls as well, while I serve as I their backup.
Implement new changes to our policies, every Tuesday we have a meeting or each day we have a memo
indicating what changes we would have to take on immediately and what changes were coming in the near
future.
Accomplishments
I became knowledgable with our Medicare clientele. I was able to explain the complications of the initial
coverage, coverage gap, catastrophic, what percentage was covered by member and what was cover by blue
shield or Medicare.
Also, I was able to assist our new hires on our assist phone line. I had less than a year working for blue shield
and I had gathered a lot of experience in that short time, that I felt confident and requested the opportunity
to try it.
Skills Used
I've been able to correctly determined approval/denials based on the tools provided and the knowledge I
retained from training. I've been able to trust myself and asses whenever it's crucial to have a drug request
further review by a pharmacist.
Pharmacy Technician

Responsibilities
Registered new patients into our database, including insurance, medical and private information.
Correctly typed patients new prescription or assured they got correct medication when ordering refills.
Answered multiple phone calls from patients/doctors and answered questions or direct them to proper staff.
Maintained pharmacy counters, drug shelves and supplies organized and clean for easy access when
pharmacy got rushed.
Scanned every order and correct drug bottle to fill prescriptions then use a scale to count large amounts of
pills and/or hand count to double count control prescriptions.
Stayed up to date with discontinued/new drugs as well as our own system/programs were changed.
Resubmit insurance claims when patient presented new insurance information and requested vacation/lost
prescription override from insurance companies.
Ensured proper payment was giving at register once I rung up patients shopping goods and prescriptions.
Ordered out of stock medication from proper supplier to make certain patients will have no gap between
treatment.
