The document discusses the distribution and production companies used for a low budget thriller film. For distribution, the filmmakers created their own company called THOR Distribution due to copyright issues and the low budget. For production, they used Candi Studios, a smaller independent company funded by the city, as they were pleased to collaborate on the low budget film. These two companies were best suited for the low budget thriller. The film was given a cinematic release at The Screen in Angel, Islington and will have a 250 DVD release alongside an internet release on Vimeo.
2. DISTRUBUTION Our initial plan when we first
pitched our thriller openings we
wanted to use a well known and
branded distributor like ‘
Paramount Pictures’ owned by
media conglomerate, Viacom.
Paramount Pictures are a major
company who have distributed
over six thousand movies like
‘Shutter Island’ , ‘Saving private
ryan’ , ‘ The godfather and
many other great movies.
BUT, For copy right reasons and
or movie only being a low
budget film we created and
used our own ‘THOR Distribution’
company.
3. PRODUCTION The production company we
used was ‘ Candi studios’ a
smaller independent company
funded by the city and Islington
media department. Candi
studios is on a local industry level
and being the we were on a low
budget we were pleased to
collaborate with them.
We display the ‘Candi studios’
ident at the start of our thriller
opening. As a small
independent company we
choose them as in the past they
have produced and distributed
several low budget films.
4. These two companies are best for our thriller as it’s a low
budget film. If we had a much more lengthy time period
we could have made our thriller on a British cinema industry
level. This would have required us to pitch our ideas to
either private investors, Film4, The BBC, Film culture founders
or regional bodies like film London to help us for the
production, distribution and funding to our thriller opening
film. We could also use well known events to our
advantage such as the BFI London film festival and any
other local events which will help notify people and attract
viewers. This is a very beneficial way to distribute new up
and coming films in Britain.
Even though we didn’t go through that
process and produced a fantastic thriller
opening on a low budget successfully we
were able to get a cinematic release on
Monday 25 the @ ‘The Screen’ In Angel,
Islington, we also have a 250 DVD Release
alongside an internet release on ‘Vimeo’
which we will be promoting and sharing on
social networking sites to get views..
