EVALUTION OF CLOSE UP SHOTS:
These are some of the extreme close up shots we captured, with influence
taken from the opening to ‘orange is the new black’. We used a special lens to
capture these shots. We also used a tripod to steady the camera to ensure that
it stayed focused on the eyes and did not wobble onto other facial features. I
like this shot, a lot especially to be used as an intermediate shot during our
music video.
This is an screenshot from the opening of orange is the new black, which
gave us our influence of the close up shots. Here we can see that although
our footage demonstrates a close up shot, the footage in orange in the
new black is a more extreme close up shot, further empahasing the eyes
rather than more facial features. I think in general though our footage is
representative of this. However, we did not want to replicate it, so the
slightly less close up shot, works well for us.
OTHER SHOTS:
This medium close up shot is of our main singer and model
‘Jasmine’. I like this shot a lot as it not only emphasised our
brand by demonstrating our main model, but it also gives
scope to add cool effects on after effects because of the white
space surrounding it. I also feel because of the close up nature
of the shot, it enables us to focus in on the facial code, creating
a mood within our video, which is quite a slow tempo’ed song.
In addition the fact that Jasmine is not looking at the camera
gives a more candid effect, creating a less formal
representation.
This is a extreme close up shot, of the lake taken during
the hours of 11:30am-1pm at south Norwood lakes park. I
really like this shot, as I feel it inspires thoughtful,
emotional feelings among viewers, conformative of the
slow beat of our song. I also feel as if the nature effect will
be conformative of the outdoor nature of the indie pop
genre. In addition, there is a section of our song that has a
slow beat, and I feel that this shot could be useful as an
intermediate shot at this point of the video. Overall I am
very happy with this shot, and have been commended for
the camera work shown here.
OVERALL CONCLUSION:
In conclusion:
Overall I am happy with the shots taken throughout our first two shooting days.
I feel like we have captured some good footage that can be put into our music
video. This will aid us during the production process, as our song is a long 4
minutes duration and therefore will need lots of footage to fill it.
Overall I think both our selection of models and nature captures are very good,
and will work well with the genre of song, providing it is accompanied with the
appropriate effects, such as slow motion to match the slow speed of our song.
