2014 REDF Farber Intern
REDF creates jobs and employment
opportunities for people facing the
greatest barriers to work.
As a Farber intern, I explored how REDF
could utilize impact investing as a
sustainable way for the organization to
further its mission of employing people
with barriers to work while addressing
the capital needs of social enterprises
and SMEs
Ultimately, I developed an innovative
impact investing strategy for REDF that
would (1) lend to and syndicate
investments in social enterprises and (2)
lend to SMEs at concessionary rates in
exchange for hiring from the target
population. In addition, I established a
full implementation plan for the
investment fund including budget,
timeline, and partnership opportunities

for empowering clinicians and managers to

pharmacy and maternal/child health

surveyors, who accredit hospitals every
three years to be able to receive

Summer Project
The advent of Health Reform has created new
challenges for public hospitals, which now
must compete with private systems for
patients. My project was to begin the
development of a hospital-wide strategy to
monitor and improve the patient experience,
as reported through surveys and filings with
the patient advocate.
