• Mass audience of or mass media means 1 The
mass media are diversified media technologies that
are intended to reach a large audience by mass
communication. The technologies through which this
communication takes place varies.
3. A niche audience
• A niche audience means a very small number of
consumer/user with in a specific product sector who
have custom need for a product. This therefore
means that only small amounts of people with
interests into this type of film will go watch and not
great amounts of people will understand it. For
example the peep show is a niche audience as it
has very taboo humour.
4. Horror Film Audiences
• Most horror films have a niche audience. This is
because they are watched by people with a demand
for horror films and people who mainly have a great
interest. For example in society not a great amount
of people watch horror movies all the time unless
they have a great interest.
5. Comedy Horror
• Comedy horror is mainly watched by men aged 15-
40. I would say this is a mass target audience as all
males find would find this film popular as their
personal life situations can relate to all men. This is
because they use very stupid and witty humour to
engage the audience and stereotypically men are
more attracted to this. For example shaun of the
dead is mainly directed at men as it shows a man
trying to win his ex girlfriend back and this can relate
to most men and they feel great sympathy for him.
6. Vampire Horror
• Vampire horror is a niche target audience. This is
because in most vampire horrors like Dracula and
Twilight and also from dusk till dawn all portray a
love storey. This closes down the genre much more
as it almost makes it a romantic horror which most
people do not find amusing and it takes a certain
type of person to have a passion for these films.
7. Possession Horror
• These films have a niche target audience. This is
because they are extremely scary and spooky
therefore most people do not want to see them as
they are too traumatic. Films like the exorcist has
had great affects on some people thats why people
of today usually stay away from them unless they
have a keen interest or are not afraid.
