• The possession sub genre is about people
who's body have been taken over by a spirit.
These spirits control the body of the person
and act in an unruly manor.
• Examples of Possession films: The exorcist,
the last exorcism, the last exorcism of emily
rose, the devil inside, the possession.

4. What did you learn from
researching your sub genre
• The location of possession films are normally
set in a house for example the polergyst and
the exorcism are based around the house of
where the family live in. These isolated
locations show that there is no escape.
• Usually we see the presence of a priest or
someone who can talk to the dead who are
called mediums or clairvoyants. These people
try and talk to the spirit and get rid of them.

• Priests being present helping the people that have
been possessed.
• Entrapment of people in a house or another
locations.
• Use of ouija boards
• family torture as they are affecting everyone that
cares about the person who has been possessed.
• Strange powers like turning your head and fully
rotating it.
6. What will be your character
types or social groups.
• In our opening title sequence it will be
symbolic and we will not be showing the faces
of each character just the hands moving
around a ouija board.
• We have done this as it creates a narrative
enigma as to what the characters are going to
be like.
7. Plot/Storyline
• Ouija board lit up by low key lighting by candles.
• 3 people sitting around the ouija board with their hands on the centre.
• The storey focuses on the 3 people doing the ouija board and flashes forward in time to show
their reactions further on in the movie to create narrative enigmas.
• Character 1 ( liam ) will be shown to kill people and mostly be based around killing others
because he is possessed and based around blood.
• Character 2 ( Jordan) will be focused around a spirit getting inside him and hurting himself from
the outside and being very concerned. This will be shown through body bruises.
• Character 3 ( Vinnie ) will be shown to self harm himself and not being in control of his body at
all.
• The video is non linear so we will constantly be switching back to shots to the ouija board
making it symbolic going backwards and forwards in time.

conventions
• we will enforce conventions for example the
use of the family home as a setting as it
represents that they are trapped.
• The use of a ouija board
• A misty/smokey room
• the use of a cross in the background to
represent the spirits.

• We will create narrative enigmas by not
revealing the identity of each character.
• Not revealing why their are flashback as it will
make the reader think why have people
previously acted like this.
• We will create a narrative enigma by the word
that is spelled out on the ouija board.
10. How will you represent the
characters
• There will be outlines of their heads and we can tell that
there will be three boys around the ouija board.
• As we are hiding their identity they will be represented in a
mysterious way.
• This will create enigmas for the audience as they will want
to find out what they look like and what type of person
they are therefore they will be more hooked for the rest of
the movie.
11. Our first inspirational film is?
• Our first inspirational film is exorcist.
• This is because it was the first and most
original possession film therefore it created
most of the conventions.
• The conventions that are used are the
entrapment of the girl in the bed
• The priest coming and trying to get the spirit
out of the women.
12. Our second inspirational film
is?
• Our second inspirational is ouija.
• This is because they have the use of a ouija
board which is an ancient way of reaching out
to spirits and is used in this film.
• We decided to use this as it is extremely
scary and there are ancient myths of them
actually working and spirits coming alive.
13. Our third inspirational film is?
• Our third inspirational film is The Devil Inside.
• This is because it they challenge the
conventions of the nuns trying to get rid of the
spirit but the spirit possesses the nuns.
• The film is extremely spooky and makes
people feel scared as there is no protection
as the enforcers have already been taken
over by the antagonist.
14. USP
• Our unique selling point is the ouja board as there are many
ancient horror storey based around them and a great amount
of people have tried them in England and can relate to a lot of
young people wanting to try it and a lot of older people looking
back on when they have done it in their youth years.
