CSS Technical Support Manager:
Managing a department of five engineers, focusing on providing technical support to 8 Sulzer Service
Centres and CSS activities in the UK, Norway and the Middle East.
My department had numerous responsibilities:
Implementing hydraulic and mechanical improvements and upgrades of pumps and related equipment -
both Sulzer and Third Party original manufacture equipment.
Investigating and resolving failures of pumps and related equipment.
Managing sub-contractor issues, inspecting, expediting and attending Factory Acceptance Tests.
Investigating and resolving corrosion and erosion issues.
Investigating and resolving vibration, noise and bearing issues.
Providing technical support for global CSS Sales activities.
Providing technical training to customers concerning operation and maintenance of Sulzer pumps and
related equipment.
Aside from managing the flow of the departmental workload, I had overall responsibility for ensuring that the
technical solutions provided by the department protected the interests of both the client and Sulzer, and
were cost effective.
In order to achieve this my role involved extensive liaison with clients and suppliers, and I frequently
travelled to meet with clients, conduct on-site surveys and investigations, and co-ordinate and expedite
suppliers and sub-contractors, and inspect equipment provided by them.
Prior positions held at Sulzer Pumps include:
Special Projects Engineer:
Providing technical support to the in-house test facility, monitoring and analysing vibration, bearing
temperatures and thrust readings and resolving any problems and queries concerning the mechanical
aspects of pumps and associated equipment under test.
Conducting tests to establish pump hydraulic performance, and issuing any necessary modifications
required to achieve correct pump performance.
Resolving site problems and post commissioning technical queries. In this role I travelled to numerous
power stations, onshore and offshore oil installations and clients workshops in the UK, Middle and Far East,
USA, and Norwegian and British sectors of the North Sea.
Conducting Sound Pressure and Sound Intensity tests. Providing noise estimates during tendering and
designing and costing any required attenuation measures.

Providing technical support for the Sales Department, selecting pumps, performing pre-order design work
and producing Performance Curves and General Assembly Drawings.

PERSONAL INTERESTS AND ACTIVITIES
I devote most of my spare time to my family - playing sports and enjoying leisure time with the children.
My wife is Korean born, and thus I am learning the Korean language.
