American Horror Story
American Horror Story is an American anthology horror television series airing on Fox Extended
(FX) network created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. It stars actors such as Evan
Peters and Sarah Paulson.
The critically and commercially acclimaied FX show has six season so far, with the seventh
season coming up on October 2017 while the eight season have started production and will air in 2018.
The ninth season has also been decided to be produced and is schedule to be aired on 2019.
The show is known as an anthology series, where each season has its own self-contained
miniseries with different set of settings, backgrounds, and characters to the other seasons. Most of the
plots for each season are inspired by true events, such as witch hunt and the 2016 United States
election.
The first season, subtitled, Murder House, sets in Los Angeles, California in 2016, and is about
a family that moves into a haunted house where ghosts of anyone who has ever died whilst living in
that house.
The second season, subtitled, Asylum, takes place in Massachusetts, during the year of 1964
and centers on the stories of the patients and staffs of Briarcliff Mental Institution that treats people with
mental disorder and is for the criminally insane, such as a sadistic scientist, Dr. Arthur Arden, (played
by Ajmes Cromwell) and accused serial killer, Kit Walker (played by Evan Pteres).
The third season, subtitled Coven, takes place in New Orleans, Louisiana, during the year of
2013 and follows a coven of witches who survived the Salem Witch Trials, but has to face off against
those who wish to destroy them again. Madison Montgomery (played by Emma Roberts) and Queenie
(played by Gabourey Sidibe) along with several other witches creates a rivalry against the voodoo
practicitioners of New Orleans, as well as the Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau (played by Angela Bassett).
The fourth season, subtitled Freak Show, takes place in Jupiter, Florida, during the year of 1952
when the era of television is beginning to reign high above sideshow acts such as circuses and freak
shows. The season is primarily about a struggling freak show led by Elsa Mars (played by Jessica
Lange) with other so-called monsters such as conjoined twins, Bette and Dot Tattle (played by Sarah
Paulson) and a boy with syndactyly, Jimmy Darling (played by Evan Peters). However, characters such
as Stanley (played by Denis O’Hare) and Maggie Esmerelda (played by Emma Roberts) wants to kill
other characters for money.

The fifth season, subtitled Hotel, takes place in Los Angelels, California in 2015, in a retro Hotel
Cortez. This hotel is known to be haunted because of the fact that it was actually built to become a
torture chamber for the guests by the founder James Patrick March (played by Evan Peters). People
who live in the hotel consists of a former drug addict turned vampire lover of Elizabeth, Donovan (played
by Matt Bomer) and others. An 111 year old vampire, Elizabeth Johnson (played by Lady Gaga) is the
warden of the hotel and Iris (played by Kathy Bates) is the front desk clerk and manager. The major
themes of this season included addiction, insanity, and forgiveness.
The sixth season, subtitled Roanoke, takes place in North Carolina during the year of 2016 and
is about paranormal events that take place at an isolated farmhouse. The family members appear on
a documentary called My Roanoke Nightmare and recounts the series of supernatural events that
happened to them in 2014 after Shelby (played by Lily Rabe) and her husband, Matt Miller (played by
Andre Holland) relocated from Los Angeles to North Carolina after a miscarriage.
