11. Purpose for Drama Structures
• Dramatic Action increases the suspense of the story through the
actions of the characters and events
• Acts break the play up into sections, may change settings or time.
Scenes are the smaller sections inside of an act that build suspense,
provide comic relief, a break from the tension.
• The purpose of a plays structure is to beak up the story into smaller
parts and to allow for setting changes.
