 Who is their target audience- Teenagers
 Have they gained any awards or recognitions- No
 Choose a record label (could be that of your
chosen artist/band or another) and produce a
fact file about them, include:
 Who owns/runs the company
 When were they started
 What artists do they sign
 What genre of music do they focus on
 Do they have a motto or statement
 Any of interesting or relevant information
 Write a report detailing what all the job roles of a
typical record label are, include:
 CEO/President/Owner of a Record Label
 Vice President
 Business Affairs/Accounting
 Legal
 A&R
 Artist development
 Marketing
 Online/New Media
 Art Department
 Publicity/Promotions
 Sales
The role of the CEO is to manage their companies with a mix of business
skills and skills particular to the music industry.
This is similar to the vice president who also serves as signed artists' liaison
to the other departments at the label, making sure that arrangements are
made for the recording of albums and that all accounting issues are handled
in a timely manner.
The accountant looks after the money generated by the label.
The legal manager makes sure that everything done by the label obeys the
law.
The A&R is the division of a record label that is responsible for talent
scouting and the artistic and commercial development of the
recording artist.
Marketing Representative's main responsibility is to develop strategies and
tactics to market and sell the record label's albums.
The media team run the social media and handle the press issues. Promotion
spread the word on artists upcoming events so they gain publicity.
Sales get people to buy merchandise and albums released by people signed
for the record label.
