3. THE OPPORTUNITY IN PODCASTS
There are various mental and technological barriers to overcome when beginning to
produce Podcasts. Fortunately, there are some fantastic resources provided by
Podcast experts (such as Pat Flynn and John Lee Dumas) which can serve as free
training and advice. Producing quality content is important, but you don’t have to do
it all. There is no need to waste time editing your Podcasts if you don’t have the
technological savvy, simply outsource the ‘boring stuff’.
In Podcasts lie huge opportunities, especially when building a comprehensive email
list. One of the most effective ways you can go about this is to use it as a call to
action so that people can download your flagship content. Including a verbal call to
action in your Podcast directs people to where they can discover more about your
content and business offerings. For example, at Bluewire Media, we encourage
people to check out the ‘33 Free Marketing Templates’ and our book. Podcasts
encourage people to pursue a call to action and sign up for your email community,
which is a drive back to your Podcasts.

4. PROMOTING YOUR PODCASTS
These are the essential steps in effectively promoting your Podcast:
Step 1: Email list + promote guest: alert your current email database as well as your
guest to your new Podcast. Rather than directly asking your guest to share the
Podcast, lead with generosity and promote them with your audience.
Step 2: Make it easy to share: adding a Click to Tweet button on your blog post
allows for simple sharing.
Step 3: Use a shareable image: adding images to Podcasts and Tweets make the
content more shareable.
Step 4: Distribute your content: distributing your evergreen content through Edgar
means that it will automatically schedule your posts to your social media platforms.
This frees up valuable time for you to develop your one-to-one interactions with the
people in your network.
Step 5: Include calls to action on your website: people browse your webpage to
listen to your podcast or read your blog posts. Placing a pop-up as they are leaving
offers your best content to engage them as an email recipient.

5. THE SECRET AMPLIFIER
What is the secret amplifier between a podcast, a call to action and a landing page?
It's the follow up with your guests. Not many people follow up, treat the podcast as
the first step in the relationship - you could even send a gift! Set reminders to keep in
touch with these people; comment on their blog, subscribe to their email list and
reply to an email every now and again. Staying on their radar and being consistent is
what builds your influence online.
Once you can form a partnership with them you can host webinars and share their
lead magnet with your audience. It’s all about delivering value: to your audience,
your guest, and to yourself, which results in growth and online sales.
