A mailing list is an incredibly powerful marketing
tool for your speaker business. It gives you an
opportunity to engage with your audience as well as
potential event planners, which often leads to more
speaking gigs. The more people you can reach, the
more speaking opportunities that are likely to come
your way. That’s why you need to make sure you’re
taking steps to grow your mailing list.
To help you accomplish this
goal, below are three effective
methods you can use to get
more people to sign up for
your mailing list.
Utilize social media1.
Social media is a wonderful tool for growing your email
list. Social media platforms give you so many creative
ways to engage with your audience and get them to
sign up for your content. Before you get too far,
however, make sure you choose the platform that
your target audience is most likely to be using.
Once you’ve determined which social
media platforms to focus your energy on,
be sure to put a link in your profile that
will direct people right to your opt-in
page. The page could include a brief
introduction of who you are then have a
sign-up for a free cheat sheet, template,
or other giveaway.
There are a number of other ways to
use social media to grow your list, as
well, such as paid advertisements to
promote your content, adding a call-
to-action in your post, and hosting
giveaways.

When you’re finished speaking at an
event, one of the first things many of
your audience members will do is visit
your website. If your message really
resonated with people, they will want
to learn more about you and hear
more of what you have to say.
This is why it’s important to make your mail
opt-in easy to find on your website, either
put it in the sidebar or footer on your
homepage. 
It’s also a good idea to mention your mailing
list at the end of your speech. This way
people know exactly where to go if they
want to hear more from you.
